Active since Mar 2022
Had an active scratch and dent policy with FNB since 2020. I was paying R100pm and never made a single claim for the past 5 years. Im deciding to sell my vehicle and wanted to get the stone chips and 2 small dents repaired so I called FNB to get the repair done. I went through the process and sent photos on Whatsapp as requested. They called back and wanted more detailed photos because they couldnt see any damage on the car (thats how minor the damages were). I circled everything for them and waited approximately 1 week for them to make a decision. I was told that the total cost to repair is R12000, they only cover R3000 per claim, which I was aware of, but they also refused to do any repairs whatsoever. They did not even want to do R3000 worth of repairs because "its an accumulation of damage". All the damage occurred during the period I was paying for my policy. In essence, I gave FNB and Smartuma roughly R6000 and got nothing at all for my money. I called around and it seems the average cost for stone chips repair is R150 per chip, and the dents can be repaired for R400 each from an independent body/paint shop. The total repair cost for my vehicle shouldn't be more than R2500. The body shop has heavily inflated their prices so that they can refuse claims. For R12000, you can forget about paint chips and just vinyl wrap your entire vehicle. This policy is a total **** and its unacceptable that they dont provide multiple quotes or allow customers to get quotes from independent body shops. Whoever they work with are simply making up repair prices. Safe to say that I will never purchase another scratch and dent policy for any of my other vehicles. Cancelled my plan immediately.
Offers an easy experience to get what you need. Website is convenient and easy to use but the issues are never ending once you need support. I waited over 10 months for feedback on a suspected faulty item. My inverter exhibited issues from day one and finally was decommissioned when the unit popped and tripped my breakers. Asking for assistance goes unnoticed. Emails are ignored and generally, their support is atrocious. They make excuses to not issue new units under warranty. I eventually had to contact the supplier directly to get assistance. Will never buy from them again.
Do not do business with this company! Thomas will take your money and run! Ordered 5 tyres and kept on getting delayed shipments. Assured I would receive my item and nothing was ever done until I called a private investigator and my lawyer. He then got someone to fetch the tyres from a local shop and get them delivered. I had given him a deadline otherwise I was going to file a police report, get my lawyers involved and contact the private investigator. I had to go to the extent of contacting Ozow Payments to hold the money and only then did Thomas bother getting my tyres delivered. The private investigator has told me that Thomas has been doing this for years.
First time ordering from weable.co.za and I was very pleased with their service. They were helpful over the phone and prices were lower than most other stores. Their pricing is not always updated for certain items so you have to wait for confirmation. In my case, the item was a bit more expensive than their listed pricing due to global shortages but they were still cheaper than everyone else. Order to shipment was the same day. I have never had a package delivered so quickly before!
Im going to start off by saying that i received my tyres after constantly having dates and times changed by Thomas Rundle. When requesting a refund, i got a response "i can cancel the order but the refund can only be done the following business day". The fact that he can cancel the order could only mean that he never even begun processing the order in the first place. To those who have not received their tyres, I highly suggest you contact SAPS, your lawyer and bank . I had given Thomas one more day to deliver on his promises or I would take legal action and that seemed to have done the trick. When I ran a trace for Thomas Rundle, it appears he has been director of 11 companies, most with "Barden" in the name and all to do with tyres. The first mention of Barden Tyre Services was in 1972, however, I am unsure how Mr Thomas was director of the company when his ID shows his birth in 1983. He is most likely purchasing an off the shelf company to make it seem like he has been in business for decades. His reviews on his website are very strange. All have the same complaints regarding late deliveries but all have 5 stars. Either he has faked them to assure customers who have been waiting will eventually get their tyres OR he has asked real customers to leave 5-star reviews once they deliver the tyres. He has politely asked me to do the same by leaving a positive review. Just because I have my items, does not mean im going to leave 5 stars, especially considering how many people never received their products or a refund. All i can say is to never do business with Thomas, tyres.co.za or Barden Tyres. If you have made a purchase, do not waste time, try to get your money back immediately. How he has been running this scam for decades is beyond me. If enough people report or get their lawyers and banks involved, Im sure he will face some sort of prosecution.
