Is been two weeks now my query it hasn't been resolved, they can't even call you to resolve your complaints, their turn around to respond to emails is ridiculous. Why there is not service at Smart uma?

I have held an active Scratch and Dent policy with FNB since 2023 and have consistently paid R99 per month without submitting a single claim over the past three years. On 22 January 2026, I submitted my first claim. As instructed, I provided the required photos via WhatsApp. I was later contacted and asked to submit more detailed images because the assessor “could not see any damage,” which already indicates how minor the damages were. I then supp**** additional photos with all affected areas clearly circled. After waiting approximately two weeks with no update, I followed up via email and WhatsApp. Only then was I informed that the repair cost had been quoted at R48,000, and because the policy covers only R3,000 per claim, my claim was rejected. Despite this, I was also told that no repairs would be authorised up to the R3,000 limit due to “accumulation of damage,” even though all damage occurred during the period I was actively paying for the policy. To verify the reasonableness of the quoted amount, I contacted independent repair shops. I was advised that stone chip repairs typically cost R150–R200 per chip, and minor dents R400–R500 each. Based on these standard industry prices, the total repair cost for my vehicle should not exceed R3,000. It is evident that the body shop used by SmartUMA has significantly inflated their pricing, making it impossible for customers to benefit from the policy. It is unacceptable that customers are not provided with multiple quotes or allowed to obtain independent quotations. I requested a copy of the quotation used to justify the rejection and received no response. The repair partner appears to be inflating costs to avoid honouring legitimate claims. Given this experience, I have lost confidence in the value and integrity of this policy. I cancelled my plan effective 16 February 2026. FNB should really consider using SmartUMA as the underwriter.

I purchased a maintenance/insurance plan after being informed on the sales call that it covered chips - which i thought was windscreen chips, but when I later submitted a claim, I was told it only covers paint chips — not window chips. I then cancelled the policy. Only at cancellation stage did I discover that this was not a simple monthly insurance premium. The full lump sum of the maintenance plan had been added to my vehicle finance agreement. I never received or signed an amended finance agreement authorising this. Here is what happened financially: I was charged R4,950 for the maintenance plan. I was charged R1,364.77 for “unearned finance charges” (never explained to me at point of sale). Upon cancellation, a further R4,654.55 was deducted as a cancellation fee. I was refunded R3,448.05. Total cost to me: R7,521.27 — despite only having the cover since August. It is unreasonable that cancelling a R4,950 plan results in costs almost double the value of the plan. I have requested: A full itemised reconciliation, The contractual clauses authorising these deductions, Their final written position on the dispute. More than five business days later, I have received no response. I have now raised the complaint with the ombudsman. This experience raises serious concerns about: Transparency at point of sale, Disclosure of financial implications, Capitalisation into finance agreements without clear written consent, The fairness of cancellation penalties. I have escalated the matter further and would caution others to fully understand how these products are structured before agreeing to them.

I have had enough with this company with my dent & scratch account. Their system fails numerous times to debit money from account for months , when I ask to find out what happened, they decide the day to double debit without asking th3 client if they can debit or to check there is enough funds in the account. I need the CEO of this complete call and explain this nonsense. Anna - Marie Van den Bergh she is not helpful at all

Had an active scratch and dent policy with FNB since 2020. I was paying R100pm and never made a single claim for the past 5 years. Im deciding to sell my vehicle and wanted to get the stone chips and 2 small dents repaired so I called FNB to get the repair done. I went through the process and sent photos on Whatsapp as requested. They called back and wanted more detailed photos because they couldnt see any damage on the car (thats how minor the damages were). I circled everything for them and waited approximately 1 week for them to make a decision. I was told that the total cost to repair is R12000, they only cover R3000 per claim, which I was aware of, but they also refused to do any repairs whatsoever. They did not even want to do R3000 worth of repairs because "its an accumulation of damage". All the damage occurred during the period I was paying for my policy. In essence, I gave FNB and Smartuma roughly R6000 and got nothing at all for my money. I called around and it seems the average cost for stone chips repair is R150 per chip, and the dents can be repaired for R400 each from an independent body/paint shop. The total repair cost for my vehicle shouldn't be more than R2500. The body shop has heavily inflated their prices so that they can refuse claims. For R12000, you can forget about paint chips and just vinyl wrap your entire vehicle. This policy is a total **** and its unacceptable that they dont provide multiple quotes or allow customers to get quotes from independent body shops. Whoever they work with are simply making up repair prices. Safe to say that I will never purchase another scratch and dent policy for any of my other vehicles. Cancelled my plan immediately.

Motorite scratch and dent is a ****. Logged a claim on 28/01/25 , received no update within a week , had to call in for an update which was that the quote department Smart is still processing. Then another 2 weeks later escalated to my insurance company as the scratch and dent is included in my insurance premium. Followed up today and was advised that the claim has been canceled. Poor customer service from Motorite, they do not provide any feedback but take your monthly premiums for a service that they don't provide. Had this policy for 6 years as well as a Motorite warranty and service plan for my vehicle. Stay away from Motorite. The only reason I gave a one Star is because you have to select a rating to write a review otherwise it's a zero star rating
