Dishonesty and poor service
I rented a vehicle from Hertz hatfield. Firstly was given a Renault Clio which the next morning wouldnt start and the petrol needle was going up and down from empty to full the whole time. They then gave me a VW polo, I was in a hurry to swop vehicles but checked the cars body and all seemed fine. I never thought of getting on my knees and looking under the car and neither did the agent, On returning the car another agent went straight to the passenger side and bent down and said there is a scratch under the car. I was asked to sign papers being told dont worry its small you wont be charged. A few days later i received my deposit back as the car was full etc thinking all was settled. about two weeks later i wake up to R1500 being deducted from my bank account from Hertz. I called hertz and they said that no one was available. I then called again the monday and got asked to send an email which no one replied to. Another day later i called again and got someones personal email address which another day later i saw got forwarded to another lady which i then got an out of office and then i got an invoice from hertz for R3000 Damages for a small scratch after already taking my deposit. Firstly i did not damage this vehicle and how did the agent know to go straight to the passenger side and bend down and look for a scratch under the car but never did that before giving it to me? The same night i got the polo i received speeding messages for the renault and on recieveing the polo the lady asked if i thought the renault would make it to mpumalanga as her colleague was taking it there which i assume is why i received messages speeding in that area. The colleague funny enough was the same man that did the drop off inspection and bent under the car meaning in my mind he drives the vehicles as he pleases and could be the cause to damage im being charged for. The service i have received has been disgusting and a formal case is being opened by my attorney against Hertz. I have always used Avis and never have i had one issue now i use Hertz and this is the service i receive. DO NOT USE HERTZ THEY ARE DISHONEST
