Standard Bank is at it again with me. They first messed up our bond agreement and now they are rendering a terrible service to us with their insurance! Three weeks ago we got hit by the rain in Stanger, KZN, and I called them on the 19th of October to ask for help (claim). They sent a builder the following day and an engineer on the 23rd (Monday). After that, there has not been any kind of communication from them since the 19th. I am the one who has to call them. I called earlier this week and they told me that the internal inspector’s report is still outstanding and that they’ll get to it before Friday (today) and call me to tell me what’s gonna happen. No one called me, and when I called earlier today they’re telling me that the internal inspector has not done his work! So now I have to wait more, with no one talking to me! The rain is continuing to fall in KZN (you can check the forecast), and the damage is continuing. What am I supposed to do right now?! The forecast is showing rain again in a couple of days, and I’m supposed to keep waiting for the inspector to finish being busy on the road (as they said) while my house gets washed away! ITS BEEN THREE WEEKS, GOING ON FOUR!!! How much longer must I wait?!!!
I took a bond/Home loan with Standard Bank that was approved early last year (2021). In the documents that I signed, it states that the first repayment will go off in 45 days after the registration of the bond. This should have been done around April or May last year, but they did not do the debits up till now. So now, someone named Jocelyn Naidoo called me to say I have to pay over R 64 000 interim interest. When I asked her why they didn't debit the money in due time, she said it's because they were doing me a favor because they thought I was renting somewhere else, so they didn't want to overwhelm me while the building was in progress! First of all, I did not ask for any favors of the kind. Second, they did not discuss it with me! AND, if that were true, then why did I accumulate so much money in interest, while they are doing me a favor? If they were doing me a favor by "saving me" around R 5000 for renting, then how am I supposed to afford over R 64 000? If they had started the repayments in time, I wouldn't be having over R 64 000 to pay out of no where. Now they are trying to put pressure on my wife and I to agree on a deal that would have us paying a higher installment then we agreed upon. We just think it's not fair on us to pay for their employee's mistakes/incompetence , and the whole thing just seems dodgy. Someone had to activate the debits, and they didn't!
