Excellent, friendly service at Standard Bank, Walmer Park, Port Elizabeth this morning.. I needed to update and merge my ID details. Most friendly, helpful people attended to me. As an older person, I am always grateful when I'm treated with patience and kindness. Well done to Walmer Park management and staff.
I haven't had business dealings with Standard Bank for well over 25 years except for a burial policy taken out probably about 30 years ago. Out of the blue, I get a call to visit the Walmer Park Branch to do a Rica (?) update.. Three days after the call, on Thursday 30th May, despite being ill, I visited the bank with all my documents and after nearly an hour of finger prints and signatures and I guess verification checks I'm told all is in order. Imagine my surprise when 2 weeks later I get a message to visit the bank to update my details. I immediately responded with a letter giving the date of my visit and the name of the person who attended to me. Imagine my shock and dismay to receive yet another call from the same person today requesting me to visit the bank to update my details. It transpires that Standard Bank has not updated my Identity details from what they originally had on file pre - new dispensation. Please can I visit the bank to make sure the ""00' at the end of my ID number has been merged with the "01" of my ID number. I am nearly 80 years old, an insulin dependent diabetic with stage four Parkinson's disease. This entire episode has really upset me. I can't just 'visit'' the bank yet again as I have difficulty walking, and also have difficulty understanding what exactly is going on because of the cognitive Parkinson's.. To me this is elder abuse at its worst !!! If there is anyone at Standard Bank with some compassion, please assist me.
I have a query on my account. I cannot get past their music to speak to someone in accounts. I have sent numerous messages without success. I waited for over 2 days to get a response to one message - during this time my service was suspended. Fortunately I have now taken out a contract with a different service provider. I have requested account cancellation but I need to pay 2 months fees for July and August despite using no data.

I placed an order with ASAP PnP just after 09.30 this morning for ice cream plus other items. At 12:35 the driver arrived ((it is about a 10 minute ride from Walmer Park to my address). First delivery promised 10.30 to 11; changed 11.00 to 11.30; changed 11.30 to 12.00, then 1200 to 12.30, then 12.30 to 13.00. As the ice cream was completely melted, I refused to take delivery of the entire order. The driver offerd me a long story about being off air. The site however shows order delivered. This is nor correct. As I telephoned and wrote for assistance without success, I expect a credit for the entire order. I have photographs as proof if so required..
I recently added a new vehicle to my insurance. I am receiving constant requests to upload photos of the vehicle for "inspection". I have uploaded and have a receipt from Santam that all was OK and received. Is this now to be a daily requirement? Santam service has always been so good.. What has changed?
