I am dissatisfied with the service I received at the Stellenbosch Nelse branch on 23 January 2025 at 12:55 pm. I have been a loyal Standard Bank customer for 10 years, and I have always been satisfied with the service. However, my recent experience has left me disappointed and frustrated. I visited the branch seeking financial assistance to cover my school registration fees and those of my brother, who lost his bursary. I have never taken a loan before, and my credit score is good. I was hoping to receive guidance on the best option for my situation (whether an overdraft, credit card, or personal loan). The staff member who attended to me did not ask any fact-finding questions and instead focused on the negatives of taking loans. When I asked for advice on what would be best for my situation, he stated that he was not allowed to provide financial advice and that I needed to consult a financial advisor. I found this response unfair and unhelpful. At the very least, I expected a comparison of the different options and guidance on which would be most suitable given my circumstances. I also asked whether I needed to consult a financial advisor before coming to the branch, because I was concerned that a financial advisor would not be able to explain Standard Bank’s products and recommend the best option without prior information. I felt the staff member was uninterested in assisting me, and I left without receiving any help. Additionally, I would like to raise a serious concern about unequal treatment. I have observed that white customers often receive a higher level of service and support, while black customers receive minimal assistance. While I cannot base my complaint on one experience alone, the treatment I received reinforces this concern and makes me feel that the branch does not treat all customers equally.
ChatGPT said: Hi, I’m really disappointed with Standard Bank. I’ve been charged R100 plus R13 as an honouring fee, but according to the information available online, this fee only applies when a debit order is processed without sufficient funds in the account. At no point did my account have insufficient funds. I regularly transfer money from my virtual card to my main account to make purchases, so it doesn’t make sense for this charge to be app****. It’s especially frustrating at this time of the month, and I haven’t been informed why the deduction occurred. I’m requesting a refund for this charge — otherwise, I’ll consider closing my account. Standard Bank’s fees are already unreasonably high.
I hate this medical aid. I hate you! You have left me in debt. Officially owing the hospital R6000. That time I’ve been paying on time and yall never settled my bill. What a disgrace!!!!
What a disgraceful service received at Netcare. It’s all about money and health is not prioritised. I’m being charged by 4 entities yet the visit was made to the hospital. No explanation whatsoever. Dr Zukani didn’t provide any examination on my last visit, only told me there’s nothing he can do I need to wait for the results. I went home still in pain, guess what he claimed that. I was referred to ultrasound, which I paid for cash. They bloods were taken and I didn’t get any feedback on that, urine samples where taken and no feedback on that. Only feedback was from ultrasound sound. Before I relocated, I called the hospital to check how much is outstanding because of the back and forth between the hospital and medical aid, I was told I owe 90c. Now that I have relocated I keep getting message saying I’m owing R1830 for bloods, R1300 for the hospital, R680 for the doctor. I’m angry

Bad experience for a first time medical aid. Totally changed my mind of medical aids in general. Went to the hospital and now I have this huge bill I have to settle. I paid for my own ultrasound, medical aid didn’t pay!!!!! Now I have to pay the hospital R1300, pay R1830 for blood sample. Why do I pay every month if the medical aid doesn’t help with settling the bills… disgrace!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am cancelling……
I am very disappointed with Standard Bank. I lost 300 that no one can account for. What’s the point of keeping our monies in our banks yet the transactions just keep happening without our permission. On Saturday when I opened my app I was on a negative -318. I had to transfer R500 from my savings so that I can purchase whatever I wanted which was R220. I was then left with 181 and transferred R300 ontop so that I can purchase this item. All in all I moved R800 from my savings and when I do the calculations I honestly don’t know where that 318 disappeared to. When I call the customer services, they are not really helpful. It’s really sad, we can’t trust banks nowadays. If it wasn’t for the salary I get at work, I would just withdraw all my money and keep it at home because these bank and stores are doing as they please with our funds. Now the agent is saying my account was never on a negative, why then did I see -318, and when I transferred 500 from my saving it went down to 181. This is frustrating. I want my money!!!!!!! This is honestly sad, ended up transferring 800 from my savings account for an item costing 220. Standard Bank used to be a very good bank. Started banking with them from 2016 when I was a student. Now it’s the worst.
I don't know how this business is sitting on 800 + good reviews. In all honestly it is kaark. They ****med 200 + people. No one is taking accountability, we are being sent from pillar to post. Sad part is we can't even open a case because we are told that the company is under liquidation. They sell furniture but won't deliver. They will say sell something to you and tell you you have to wait for 2 weeks as they have to order the item from their warehouse. 2 weeks becomes a month, a month becomes a year. When you wake up its been 3 years. They are not responding to any of the negative comments, that alone should tell you that they don't care. Save your money and go buy elsewhere.
Moved to Midrand from Pretoria and honestly stressed and depressed. Why is Protea electricity prices so ridiculous. December 25 I was at home in Eastern cape and decided to top up my account with R500, mind you I was at home for the whole of December meaning no one was using the services as my apartment was empty. When I came back I was on a -84. This made me so much angry. This month I have topped up more than 700 but my credit is on R20 today. I don’t cook, I don’t use the geyser. My life is a misery ever since I moved to Midrand. There’s loadshedding and I don’t understand why do we pay so much and why so much is deducted Mina nje R30+ is deducted on my account everyday
Tjo ay you guys like risking our lives. How do you allow a bus that is low on power to transport more than 80 people travelling for more than 8 hours I’m headed to Durban from Pretoria, currently in bus no 906. We are stuck in the middle of nowhere, driver says the bus has no power and he called and awaiting for feedback. Even if we find a mechanic, the trip home will be very scary. I pray to the almighty that we make it home safe and sound 😩😩😩😩 Tjo ay Intercape you are risking our lives honestly !!!!! Was was this bus approved to leave the station if not in good condition😢😢😢😢
