What does Alexander Forbes assist with excatly when it comes to the trust fund of a child. I am unemployed mother and my son is allocated R8k for the year. R4k was paid January for stationary and some was used to buy some of summer uniform. Now in May I requested money for winter clothes and was told money wil pay for his school fees. Which is fine, but is he not entitled to get clothes? His fees is 950pm transport 800pm. How far does 4000 or even 8000 stretch? All they see is a money hungry mother who wants to abuse his son funds. So what is the adhoc request for basically if you cannot ask for clothes? Last year they did not want to pay for school fees, transport, clothes. I had to involve umbudsman. Why should everything be a struggle?
When my husband died 2015 I decided to keep the money with Alexander Forbes. Since 2016 he(my son) is receiving annual payment in January each year and never requested for additional payments. Oct 2022 I was retrenched and 2023 June I asked additional amount for clothing and it was declined. 2024 they paid R7000 to cover the year. R7000 is for school fees, clothing, transport and everything else. I requested additional amount to pay for school fees and winter uniform, again it was declined. I took it to the ambudsman and the matter was sorted. This year 2025 no payment was made. Schools are reopening next week and my son does not have stationary, busfare, summer uniform or school fees. The entire week they never responded to my call back. When I emailed their advisor she also did not help me.
My references is MONGS_01 My husband passed in May 2015 and I made the decision to keep my son's monies with them and not take it out. Every year they paid me interest and I took care of my son's needs as I was employed. 2022 I was retrenched and I still took care of my child, never asked for their assistance. 2023 October I asked for funds for summer lothes and explained that I was unemployed. They paid me and adviced that I changed to be paid/ get assistance monthly which I did in December 2023. Jan 2024 they still paid the yearly amount of R7900 and when I enquired I was told to pay for school fees, stationary, transport and summer uniform and provide proof and they would pay the rest. I did as I was instructed but now 1st Feb I'm suppose to pay for transport for Feb I'm told there's is no more funds available for 2024. My child school fees alone is R9900 pa and I told the administrator and she told me to take my child out of the school to one that is going to be less expensive. Who's money is this, my son's or Alexander Forbes? Who gave them the right to detect where to take my son? If I gave them the schools account number to pay and they still refuse. When I want to transfer the money to another institution they tell me I cannot I will misuse the funds because of the fact that I am unemployed. Why am I fosed to stay when I am not happy with the service? I made the decision to keep the money with them now I'm not allowed to change my mind and take his money elsewhere? Today the transport money is due and nothing was deposited in my account. Nobody is taking responsibility for my case. All I want is for his school fees, transport to be paid and money for his lunch even if it will affect the capital amount. This is his money and he will go to the school he will get the best education and not what Alexander Forbes wants
My grandson was born October 2023. There was complications during birth so he is still in hospital. The problem I have is the attitude that the nurse gives the patients. When you are in hospital obviously you are not well. You need help and mostly answers as to what's wrong , what is the cause and how you will be helped. Dora Nginza is a public hospital so we that cannot afford private hospitals go there and would love to also be treated like we matter. If you don't know someone working there than you are treated like the nurses are doing you a favor.. My grandson is in high care and when we ask about the progress of his health the nurse response was "can't you see he is in the incubator meaning that he I recovering" All I wanted was to know what made him land there, what cause of action you are taking to help him, is it helping , if not what will be the next step. If you aren't sure tell me to ask Dr for the information and not the attitude. 9 out of 10 nurses that we dealt with have this "I don't care" attitude. If you are lucky enough to know or being referred to someone then attitude changes. In my line of work I deal with people all the time and I know about empathy. Nurses in public hospital need to be taught people skills. We are all important please treat us all with respect.
