All these reviews are accurate. This is not disgruntled customers, these are legit reviews. My experience has been probably the worst online experience of my life. This is a Temu/Shein type company fronting as a local business. When the order goes wrong - and it will go wrong - then you end up dealing with a company called Auro MilanO https://aura-milano.it/ and they that's where the experience gets even worse. Issues I had, they shipped a product too large. I tried to return, and they said no rather let them ship a second product and just chip in EUR9, and then that product was wrong again... and now I'm stuck tryng to speak to their customer support to sort it out, and every email from them feels like you starting the conversation again from scratch! There is no continuity in the conversation and feels like each time it's a different person, with no context! TERRIBLE.
Home Affairs is in a sad state of affairs… its broken. The Wynberg branch (and most likely all branches) is so poorly run and managed, it’s laughable. The Manager (Mr Andrews) and his second in charge (I dealt with both), clearly don’t care about YOU; and don’t care about attempting to make it run more smoothly as a service offering. It’s a perfect reflection of the state of this country… poor leadership; broken administration; non-qualified and incompetent staff members; all round ****show. If you need to renew your passport or ID and deal with Home Affairs, here’s some TIPS: 1. The best way to make an application is using the Online system: https://ehome.dha.gov.za/eHomeAffairsV3/ and PAY online. 2. The system is extremely temperamental and cannot handle traffic, so access it early mornings or late at night. 3. After logging in, you get always must enter an OTP. Most of the time you will experience a loading spinner that seems to spin indefinitely… simply leave it to spin, and the page does eventually load (even sometimes as long as 15mins later). Often you will get the OTP SMS first and the spinner is still showing, just wait for it to finish. 4. When entering the OTP, do not press the enter key to continue. On most websites pressing enter on a form will complete the task, BUT their incredible developers have linked the enter key to the “Resend OTP button” and you will start the process all over again. 5. If you manage to get past the OTP and access the system, and you click the “Create Application” button, note that you may have to refresh the next page to get the form to load, as 99% of the time the embedded form does not show first time, and you’re left scratching your head. 6. Be sure to SAVE as you go. Amazingly the Save button works. 7. When you get to the PAYMENT screen, recommendation is to pay online if you can, otherwise your branch visit will take even longer and with load shedding you can’t risk that (Oh did I mention they go completely offline with load shedding, hence you need to get in and out as quickly as possible…) 8. Try to avoid going to a Home Affairs branch at all costs. Try secure a BANK appointment, otherwise you will lose 15 years of your life and become old quickly! IMPORTANT, the option online to book a BANK appointment only works about 20% of the time – who knows what their developers do to it, but here’s some TIPS to try get it to show available timeslots: (1) Only book for 1 week windows (2) enter the dates manually in the format yyyy-mm-dd (i.e. 2023-02-16) (3) Try and book a month or more from the current date (4) Although their calendar widget only shows you can book a month and half in advance, you can manually enter dates well beyond the calendar options and it returns results (5) Try from different browsers including EDGE, and also different PC’s (6) Try look for slots on different days of the week, because sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t 9. If you have to go into a Home Affairs branch, try to book an appointment using their BABS platform: https://services.dha.gov.za/ - granted it didn’t ever work for me and I kept getting errors, but I know it has worked for others. The queues are shorter and a different queue to the MAIN walk-in queue 10. If you must go into a Home Affairs branch as a WALK-IN, note you must get there at around 05h00-06h00. I got there 06h30 and was very lucky to get a ticket number, in fact I was the very last one. 11. If you find yourself waiting in the underground parking lot, make sure you regularly go and check on the upstairs queue progress and make sure the staff know you’re down there. We all waited until 14h30, until we realised they had completely forgotten about us downstairs, as no-one had come to check on us since 12h00. It was at this point we all walked upstairs and noticed that the queue had gone. Mr Andrews came round and said don’t worry everyone with a ticket will be seen, so we all continued to wait until 15h30, at which point they kicked us out with only 10 more people to see…. No acceptance they F’d up; no accountability; just a go home and come back tomorrow. FFS! 12. Be mindful of load shedding schedules. They simply shutdown and put their feet up playing games on their phones during load shedding. You’d think Mr Andrews and the management would purchase some UPS’s or inverters and ensure a few PC’s; WIFI and Biometrics could continue working, but no that is too much to ask and why when you’re getting paid by the government and get to talk **** to each other for 2-4hrs during load shedding. In any other business you’d be fired as a management team, for not having a backup solution to run your operation… Disgraceful, but not shocking. This is NEW South Africa, we have all allowed it to become by not using the power of our votes and voices.
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY We used Complex Care 1 (part of Hero Construction), to complete a small renovation at our home, consisting of a Domestic Quarters with a new bathroom and a room extension (which required new foundations; a new roof/ceiling with Kliplock roofing sheets and Isoboard ceiling inside); and then a new Master ensuite bathroom to be built inside the main house to replace the older smaller bathroom. We supplied approved building plans, which stipulated all foundation sizes; roofing sizes; lintels required etc etc. A quote was given, and we accepted it based on the approved plans (so we thought). At the end of the project, we received an updated quote which had increased by 20%. The renovation was scheduled to take 6-8 weeks maximum. It ended up taking 24 weeks (yes you read right… 6 months for 3 small rooms!) and unfortunately no penalties had been established upfront, so we had no recourse and were at the mercy of this unprofessional company. Long snag lists took 3 months to address. At one point the roof started leaking in multiple places and they took an entire week simply come out and look at it. 2 months after the renovation was completed the domestic quarter Isoboard ceiling fell down, and we had to pay out of our own pockets to redo it entirely from scratch, as this company refused to take accountability for it. We also discovered they had used a generic (much cheaper) Isoboard product, and when we sourced our own quote from the official Isoboard company, turns out they’d marked up the materials by 50%. I don't mind people making margins but not on materials. They used our tools (wheelbarrows, ladders, even our grinder and drill at one point) and ruined the wheelbarrow, and ladder is not far off... when we requested they replace or take accountability they push back and refuse. This company epitomises everything wrong with South Africa’s construction industry. They take your business, start well, and then take on more jobs and work slows down on your job delaying your project. Builders seem to not understand or care that we are the ones living with the dust and mess daily. Our daughter developed such bad asthma because of the dust and mess, she had to go onto chronic medication. These builders just lie and do things in an unprofessional manner, and we as the customer are left to foot the bill and pick up the pieces. If you come across this company, I urge you to steer clear. When a heavy candle recently fell from a ledge onto our brand new built in bathtub, and cracked the fiberglass membrane creating a hole, we thought we were going to have to rip out the bath and retile everything after just 4 months. A quick Google, and we came across Beta Baths. I contacted them and Stephen (the owner) was quick to reply on Whatsapp and provide a quote. The process was simple and much more painless than replacing the bath. Day 1, they repaired the fibreglass hole/membrane with a fibreglass epoxy resin, which when sanded down was the same smooth finish as the bath. The bath was then sprayed white, and left to dry. Day 2, the team returned and buffed the sprayed bath down to a smooth matt finish. Excellent results and would definitely use this service again.
Amazing experience selling our Q5 through Mit Mak Motors and specifically Jacques Boshoff. I've previously always sold my cars myself, has I've been skeptical of these dealers and the trade in value you can get and felt you always get more selling yourself. Well this was not the case, I was contacted by Jacques within 2hrs of listing the vehicle with the dealer network on www.cars.co.za and he arranged to come view the vehicle the very next morning. He arrived on time; was very professional and after some initial negotiations we settled on a price that was pretty much my asking price had I tried to sell it myself. Wonderful and I'd recommend Mit Mak to anyone and already have told many friends about this experience.
