T&C and staff are not aligned. If those 2 are not aligned I would cation people against using their services as these are early indicators for massive headaches with resulting tickets and payouts. Do better.
I have seen back alley casinos that are better put together than this trash bookmaker. I closed my betting account with them and I recommend you do the same. Not worth the headache just to have a bit of fun.
Customer service is trash. Over 3 interactions 2 were just trash. One instance relates to responsible gambling. I set a limit and for this month I am no close to the limit (only 3% deposited in Feb as per monthly limit), but I cannot deposit any more. I received an explanation, but it's a **** one with no material backing from T's&C's. Other instance relates to a casino game. I informed them that the game has not functioned for a week or so and also gave a explanation, but all I am being asked for is a ticket number. What ticket number??? I am not asking for a specific bet, but a game that is not functioning as intended. All I want to know is if the game will be fixed and by when, that's it. I am all for job creation, but s****ing the bottom of the barrel that was in the ba*****t for the last 10 000 years is not helping your business. WSB is an ideal platform to play with chump change as some of the stuff is entertaining, but not for larger deposits as they can't get the basics right. Do better.
I honestly fail to understand how discovery bank claims to be the bank of the future. Yes, there are a few neat functions that they do have, but they have processes that are so annoyingly slow that they would make a bank from the middle ages seem as the next best thing since white bread. I honestly dont understand why Discovery is moving backwards. With my recent experience with Discovery insure, Life, medical and now banking I have no faith in the brand as a whole. I am on the fence whether I want to switch my salary account away from discovery only, or if I want to close off my accounts after switching my salary account as I don't really see a use for discovery bank anymore. What I need, I can get from other institutions faster with better communication. Who knows, maybe I just have unrealistic expectations. But for now the rose tinted glasses have fallen off and I see discovery for what it is, a dead horse. No point in using or keeping a dead horse. For current users of Discovery bank and for new prospective clients, a word of caution. Through discovery you will discover new and unique ways to get flustered and frustrated. I am mindful that some people are into problems, but for now I have had my fair share and I am calling it a day.
In December 2023 we took a 101 unit, which is pay in advance. My account had an arrears balance, which was settled and the upfront 101 fee was also paid. New agreement has commenced for the 101, which is pay in advance. Late 2024 we started getting double debits every month, which led me to cancelling the service on May 2025. The 101 was returned and we also confirmed that no further debits will be taking place as the 101 is pay in advance. On 25/05/2025 I was debited for June, for something of which we no longer have, yet it is pay in advance. The billing team states that the bill deducted on 25/05/2025 was for April 2025. I am using a pay in advance service with my bills up to date and financials to back it up, but I am paying them 2 months in arrears because of... reasons... I have 0 trust in Rain that I won't be debited again for something that has been cancelled. Now I have to pursue my bank to do a reversal and cancel the card that was used for payment because an entity that practices dishonest conduct has the card information. Not cool. If you choose to enter into an agreement with Rain, get fami**** with the FSRA because you will end up in touch with them. Do better, Rain.
When I joined my current employer, I was told that taking up medical aid is compulsory if I didn’t have medical aid prior to joining them. I was presented with many different options, and I decided to go with Discovery Medical aid as I heard decent things about them through word of mouth. If only I knew back what I know today, I would have avoided joining Discovery… I am ok with the medical aid being deducted straight from my salary as this will eliminate any possibility of the medical aid not being paid. The issue that I have is that I signed up for Vitality Health using the website and was promised a trial period of 3 months before they start deducting money FROM MY BANK ACCOUNT that I provided, not directly from my salary that my employer pays into my bank account. I did not consent for them to take the Vitality Health the same way that they are taking the money for the medical aid, yet they took money, not from the account details that I have provided but straight from my salary that my employer is paying into my account, during my trial period where my first deduction for Vitality Health was only due to be taken at the end of February. I commenced with my Vitality Health trial somewhere in December and they took money in January directly from my salary, not at the end of February from my bank account as agreed. When I saw the deduction on my payslip for Vitality health, I queried it on the 05/02/2024. Today is the 10th business day since I initially raised the issue. All that I have received is “I have referred this to the Billing Team to assist with an investigation and to process a refund”. No other feedback if it will be returned into my bank account or if it will be paid into next month Salary or even how long the entire process is going to take. I am left in the dark on this one. The saddest part is, I should have seen the red flags from April 2023 as I started experiencing issues with their banking division and also with the delays of getting the drive sensor installed with Discovery insure in January 2024 as the discovery systems were offline at Tiger wheel and Tyre Umhlanga branch on the 3 occasions that I travelled there to get the sensor installed. I have learnt my lesson by placing all my eggs in one basket and will be moving my banking, insurance, and medical aid away from Discovery over the next couple of months after doing my own research instead of listening to word of mouth. If you try to pet the same dog and you keep getting bit, maybe you should stop petting the dog. Should someone from Discovery decide to get in touch with me regarding my experience, please don't. Don't bother calling, emailing me or responding to this review. Do better and fix this problem that should never have existed.
I signed up for the free trial of Discovery health, but still saw a deduction on my payslip for vitality health. It would of been understood if I signed up for vitality through my company, but I signed up for the free trial on my own using the Discovery website from home. I did not express interest through my employer that I want Vitality Health. I have raised a query on 05/02/2024 after seeing the deduction on my payslip. Today is the 13/02/2024 and today I received notification that they are "investigating" to process the refund. I fail yo understand what is being investigated. I signed up on my own, not through the company. I supp**** the banking credentials that is to be debited, yet the company failed to adhere to that agreement. Now I have to wait? For more than 5 working days? And still receive feedback that the issue is being investigated??? So I did everything by the book and still being incorrectly debited and I have to wait more than a week to get my money back? Adding on, I started my discovery car insurance policy on 01/01/2024 and was not able to install my drive sensor due to the systems at TW&T that are linked to Discovery were offline. I wasted 3 trips to TW&T, which is the equivalent of 3 trips to work in terms of petrol. Not once was I flagged by Discovery to notify my that the systems linked to TW&T were down. I did not receive a rebate for the days the systems to install the drive sensor was down. I cannot support a company that does not deliver on its promises. If you are supplying a service/product, I would understand if there is the odd defect, but not across vitality health, drive and also the banking system. The concept of all Discovery products are beautiful on paper, but what I experienced so far is nothing short of drinking bin juice for breakfast. At this rate I will be moving my car insurance, banking and medical aid as soon as my discovery credit card has been paid up, which will be in the next 2 months. Approach Discovery with extreme caution. I would give 0 stars, but HelloPeter does not allow for 0 stars to be given, so enjoy the free star, unlike the "free trial" for discovery health that my money was taken for. All I want is for this issue to be resolved, not for a semi silver tongue individual to explain to me what is currently happening. I have had enough.
