We were unfortunately unhappy with our stay at Joanna’s place. 50 Edmonds Road Berea Durban While the accommodation is affordable and the bachelor unit is furnished with modern, attractive furniture, the overall experience did not meet our expectations, and we would not choose to return. Upon arrival, several kitchen items—including dishes, pots, and the toaster—were not clean. Dishwashing soap was also not refilled. There was a persistent and unpleasant drain smell coming from both the kitchen and bathroom, and the cupboards had a strong, musty odour, suggesting they had not been cleaned or aired out recently. The bed was also not clean on arrival, and my husband and I had to thoroughly clean it ourselves before feeling comfortable enough to sleep. Photos of the uncleanliness have been attached. Given the amount paid for this accommodation, had it been a viable option at the time, we would have chosen to leave immediately. During our stay, we experienced issues with bugs entering the unit, and we noticed large ****roaches in the garage area, which was filled with personal belongings. While we understand that this is someone’s home, these factors impacted our comfort. There was also a power outage during our stay, and unfortunately, there was no generator or inverter available. During this time, the fridge defrosted, causing water to spill over our food. As the freezer is inside the fridge compartment, all our food was affected and had to be thrown away. There was no communication from the host during the outage, leaving us without lighting and unsure of what to expect. Although we understand that hosts may be busy, we had been informed that the host would check in with us upon arrival, which did not happen. Some form of communication or check-in would have gone a long way. The shower itself was clean enough to use, which we appreciated. However, there are visible signs of mould developing on the walls, which is a health concern. The unit would benefit from being properly aired out between guests, as the lack of ventilation seems to contribute to the odours. On our final day, after a five-night stay, the strong drain smell became so overwhelming that it woke us up early in the morning, and we felt compelled to leave immediately. Positives: Goodness was exceptionally friendly and helpful. She assisted us with our bags at check-in and was truly a gem. Early check-in was also accommodated, which we appreciated. The property is located in a safe area, close to the beaches, and includes a cute play and chill area. Overall, while there were a few positive aspects, this accommodation did not provide the level of comfort or cleanliness we expect. An accommodation should feel welcoming and comfortable enough for guests to truly rest, and unfortunately, this was not our experience. We were disappointed, especially as the reviews had led us to expect something very different. Future guests may wish to book with caution.
Nokuthula Mabogoane was nice patient and helped with my query
What disgusting service I received at this police station. My phone got ******, for insurance purposes I had to get a case number. I went in, in the afternoon filled in my affidavit stood in one line to be told that I cannot write in Blue pen I have to restart the line and write in a black pen of which I did. Upon completing this I was told to call after 18H00 to receive my case number. I called at around 19H00 and was told that it is not yet ready I must call in the morning. I just made a call now at 10H00 and was told my affidavit has been sitting on the desktop nobody has captured it, to my frustration I then explained how *********** they are Sgt Malesa then was extremely rude to me telling me to open my ears, she wasn't here yesterday so she doesn't know anything, instead of humbly doing her job and apologising, then saying she will capture it and I must call in later (much to my even further delay!) Is this how Douglasdale Police Station Serves and protects its' people? I am extremely appalled.
