I have had the worst experience with Discovery insure when my motor vehicle was T-boned from the side by another car that sped away (Hit and Run). Upon taking my car for assessment the assessor returned to Discovery to advise that the car is a write off and that is the assessment that Discovery is sticking with, although from a safety perspective the car is still perfectly drivable, only requires a repair on the doors etc. and no damage to the structure, nor the drive train of the car. Without my consent, nor Discovery calling me to discuss the matter (I had to phone them many times to follow up and had snotty attitudes and one liner emails from their incompetent claims specialists, particularly a lady called Kayleigh Steyn), Discovery has lifted the insurance cover of my vehicle, even though I am still driving it, and they want to write it off, I had also received 3 calls from different people from an auction house that want to come and collect my car. To be perfectly clear, there has been no finalization, nor correspondence of any paperwork etc. with me agreeing to write off the car or transfer ownership. My whole experience has been extremely unpleasant and can honestly say that if this is the kind of issues to go through, then why do we have insurance at all. Very disappointed in Discovery, they need to sort themselves out.
I was in a car accident yesterday on the 7th of November 2021, Discovery's service was amazing, my car's Discovery tracker early warning system notified Discovery before I even did and was contacted moments after the accident had occurred, the service consultant Wanda Mdunyelwa was amazing and I appreciate the concern followups to check whether I was okay and the support provided in the matter. Thumbs up to you guys and thank you for the amazing assistance!
