Great location in Petervale , just off Witkoppen over the highway. Great food! Sunday Roast is a must have! Can’t finish the Ladies portion! Weekly/daily specials on food-traditional fish & chips, steak, egg & chips. Happy hour 4-6, cheapest Black Label pint in JHB. Great for sport, can watch 3 different sports at once. Lots of regulars. Get there!

Discovery Health Clowns!
Shocking *********** *******! I moved from an employer scheme to paying privately twice last year, moved to a lower scheme in the interim and have had a nightmare ever since, They've told my ophthalmic surgeon I wasn't covered for a laser repair two weeks after paying for a cataract procedure on the check up! Vitality told Virgin that I wasn't covered for months and I was charged full price for months instead of the discounted rate. Try getting a refund! Virgin to Vitality to Discovery and back a finger pointing extravaganza! When they checked their phone records for the proof that I was on the phone with their consultant updating their "App" to go private they grudgingly admitted it was their stuff up with the "App didn't update their backend systems. I was like: your app, your backend system your product, your problem!! And then there was the sms - you owe Discovery R2800 for dropping to a lower scheme in between jobs as we paid you MSA benefits on the higher scheme. When I called to ask why, the said individual didn't tell me, I got, "they should have told you". I said I would've stayed where I was if this was explained, it would've been cheaper! To date there's no resolution so I've stopped paying Discovery and Virgin. They are incapable of sorting their own admin systems. But super quick to sms, email and call to say you haven't paid and very efficient at re-running the debit order!!?? I have high blood pressure which was getting worse by yelling at these clowns every week. The only thing that works well are their billing systems!! I'm not going back. Even on a new Corporate scheme. Let me not start on their 10 year history with my ex wife who argued non stop on medical device non-approvals. They are *******. It's a mystery how they've managed to garner 50% of the market with this shocking service..

La Trinita run by Lala and her Mum is the real deal. Authentic Italian by Italians, lovingly cooked & freshly prepared. The Springbok Carpaccio and bacon calamari is a must, as well as the Regina Calzone with chilies. The Oxtail is a delightful indulgence. Forget the menu - Lala will tell you what's been prepared for the day & never fails to tempt with a special flourish, a born hostess and entertainer!

What a ridiculous advert for coffee! The chick says "can I come up for some coffee?" He says "What coffee is it?" It's his place, surely he would know? They could fix this quite easily - the dude should ask her up for coffee. Idiots...

Dotsure.Rip Off!
So we put in our second claim for my 7 year old black lab, Duke and get disappointed again! He went in for an annual check up and his rabies booster shot and they come back with a request for clinical notes? They saw that he was previously treated for elbow dysplasia, although this was incidental and the vet marked that this visit had nothing to do with that on the claim form - just a check up and his booster shot. Still, an arduous telephone call pressing various IVR buttons eventually gets you thru to a living, breathing person, not the claims administrator who put the wrong telephone number on her e-mail. Person A cant help, puts you thru to Person B who covers pets, can't help, puts you thru to Person C who explains that: A: Annual check ups and vax not covered on the "Basic" Plan. B: They only paid 50% of the previous elbow claim on the "Basic" Plan. C: No point in upgrading his plan for future elbow treatment as it was reported under the original "Basic" Plan. I told them this sucks and said that it was akin to putting in a motor vehicle claim to be told they only pay 50%. And if you would like to upgrade to be told , no they will still only pay 50% of future repairs as the original problem was reported under the previous plan? She confirmed this and I said we will cancel and write in to Hello Peter - thus this post. A classic case of short term insurance happily taking your premiums for a couple of years ad then whoops! A claim! Well, err that's not covered, and we only pay 50% of that and tough ****, you shoulda read the fine print! We've cancelled and I advise everyone on dotsure.rip off to upgrade from the "Basic" plan. They seemed quite pleased with the middle finger treatment too!

I write to complain of the double standards of the Daily Maverick. I was a fan and Maverick Insider until I found their disclaimer under a recent Covid article, Everything you need to know about vaccines.. I enclose my letter of 27 June - no reply: *** is this bull****? Will this bloated, monopolistic corporate ever stop bludgeoning it’s viewers with endless DSTV ads? You often get 3 ads in a row for DSTV Premium, Supersport, Babize Bonke, Super Diski etc. While you’re watching the channel! Why are they fire hiding their loyal customers with their own ads? Oh and they’re also using subliminal advertising which is illegal? If u pause in any mini series you get Chicken Lickin & various ads on the screen instead of the image of what you paused. This needs an urgent investigation. I thought subliminal advertising was banned in the 70s?!

The best authentic Italian food in JHB! A perfect Italian & SA culinary fusion. Springbok Carpaccio is a must. Or the melenzane starter, always a toss up. No need for menus, the fabulous Lala will suggest something amazing. The bacon calamari is a must. We often go & share a starter & main, they are happy to combine meals on a shared main too. Lala & her staff are a treat - her two (yes only 2) waiters are magicians, you never have to wait for a drink. Brilliant vibe, excellent food & friendly, efficient staff, try lunch time pizzas too!
