I've been contributing to this medical scheme for several years now, and for the first time I get food poisoning and have go to the hospital. First off, the Hospital can't authorize TopMed online, so ok I pay for the doctor, thinking I'll submit a form later.<br> 1 Month later I get a bill from the pathologist saying the Medical Scheme won't pay.<br> 3 Months later I get a bill from the hospital saying that the medical aid won't pay. So I ended up paying the doctor, pathologist and hospital out of my own pocket, WHAT DO I PAY MEDICAL AID FOR???<br> I understand that there are restrictions on all insurance schemes to prevent people from taking advantage of the system, but there's a fairly broad line between people taking advantage of the system, and the system taking advantage of people, and this system has crossed that line and set up a shop there. I shouldn't need to read the small print on page one hundred and whatever of the policy encyclopedia, if I get a \HOSPITAL"plan"
Unable to apply for contract, was declined for no good reason, was unable to get through to the correct department to resolve. Was re-directed to 4 different numbers: 08217844,0821905,0821946, 0821941 none of which were able to assist me, some of the number asked me to put in codes which I don't have, so I couldn't get through. Eventually I was manually put through to the legal department, who began to assist me, and then was cut off before they could finish. But it doesn't matter anyway because they were telling me that I needed to get the store agent to file a review of denial or something like that, which is way too much effort, considering I just wanted a simple contract. The irony is that I had just received a message from Vodacom stating that I had been pre-approved for a contract which was double the amount of the one that I was applying for. Anyway, they basically made it impossible for me to buy their product. Eventually I gave up and phoned Cell-C and within 10 minutes I had exactly what I wanted. Problem Solved.
