I ordered a combo deal of 2 X 3d printing reels. I collected at Montague Gardens depot in December. I could see immediately that 1 reel was missing as the box was too small for both. I opened the package in front of their dispatcher. He couldn't help me. I have since written numerous emails, made numerous phone calls. I was told repeatedly that a manager would contact me. This has never happened. I am still waiting for some kind of refund or response.
<div>Isaac appears to be very professional at the outset. His quote was fair and he was able to start the work quite soon. That is when the good service ended. They tarred the large front pavement area of our business in the week of the 25th September 2021. While the job was ongoing, we wanted to increase the cost of his quote by R10 000.00. The reason he gave is that the underestimated the amount of rubble and sand that had to be removed from site. I reluctantly agreed to this. While he was preparing the surface, I asked him if he was putting enough premix down. This is the liquid that bonds the tar to the sub-base. His quote listed this as an item, "spraying of hot premix". He did not even have anything with which to spray it. He came with a drum of the stuff that was not even a quarter full. (I had other opinions from alternate companies later, who said that for the area he was tarring, he should have had a full drum). He then asked if we had any buckets so that he could use them to spread the premix. We ended up giving him plastic containers. The problem was that they were throwing the stuff around and there were areas where there was not premix at all. Anyway we were not experts in this so I did not make too much of an issue about it, other than to ask if he was using enough, which he assured me he was. He also left a large amount of rubble in front of the neighbour's house. I started following up about the rubble collection and about 3 days later, a team (sub-contractor) rocked up and started to clear it. I then got a call from the sub-contractor clearing demanding payment for the rubble removal. I told him that we had already paid Isaac for it. In fact we paid him an additional R10 000.00 for rubble removal. He said that Isaac told him that we had not paid and that if we did not pay him, he was going to bring all the rubble back and dump it again. After a heated discussion with Isaac and a shouting match between him and the sub-contractor, he then paid the sub-contractor and most of the rubble was cleared. The sub-contractor did not come back to clear the remaining rubble and I had to get my staff to do it. It filled a skip. I then found out that the sub-contractor was only paid R4000.00 for the whole rubble removal. The removal of the rubble was included in our original quote and for which we then paid an additional R10 000.00. The work looked good on the day he finished but on the second day, little pieces of tar started to come loose. This continued to deteriorate and within a month it looked terrible. He has promised to come back at do a resurface many times, but when the day comes, he does not answer his phone. He even said that the our staff were driving irresponsibly, and that is what was damaging the surface. It is a parking area for Pete's sake. I am writing this email frustration today, because on the 28th January 2022 he promised that this time he would not let me down he scheduled to do the re-surface today (4th February). He said that he had been avoiding me because he needed to build up the cash reserves to buy the tar, but that he had that in place now. Well since Monday he has not answered a single call and I expect that I won’t hear from him again. I am attaching images to show the mess they left behind and the quality of his work. The camera does not do it justice. It actually looks much worse in person. My suggestion to anyone working with him is to withhold at least 30 percent of his cost until a week or two has passed. This will allow you to assess whether the tar will start to break up and you will have some leverage to get him back. Also resist his insistence to receive instant payments. He also did some work for our opposite neighbour. He got paid a deposit, did half a day’s work and has not been back since. He goes on about how he is a God-fearing man and a pastor in his church but it seems he is just a *** . If he ever does come to honor his 5-year guarantee (which is a joke because the problems started after 5 days), I will update this review with the details.</div>
We have had a terrible experience with Isaac of SA Tar Services. His quote (R80 000.00) and communication were reasonable and efficient. He started the job fairly quickly and shortly thereafter the problems started. On the day the work started, he started asking us to use our buckets to spread the liquid bitumen. We provided this for him. He was onsite personally and operated the roller as they were applying an compacting the tar. When complete, apart from one or 2 edges to be touched up, the job looked good. There was a huge pile of rubble and sand that they piled on the neighbours verge outside the property. He said that he underestimated the amount of rubble and asked for an additional 10K for this, which I agreed to and made an instant payment. A team (sub contracted) arrived and worked very hard to remove the rubble, but they left some behind and I had to follow up repeatedly. Then the sub contractor came and rang our bell to say that we must pay him. I explained that we had paid Isaac and our contract was with Isaac, not with him. He then got threatening and was going to dump other peoples rubble on our site if we did not pay. This ended up a big fight and Isaac eventually paid him. We had to dispose of the remaining rubble ourselves. Isaac has never been back to the property since. A couple of days later I noticed the tar was coming loose all over the place. I could push through the tar in places with my finger. There was so little tar laid that in some places it was only one layer of stone thick. He has made promises to come back this morning, but has made excuses and postponed to Monday next. He started a job for our neighbour (not the one where they dumped the rubble) and after 1 day disappeared and did not come back. I'll update this thread with positive feedback if we hear from him again and if he sorts out the problems he has left us with. I expect him to do so as he keeps telling me that he is a minister in his church and will not cheat anyone. I just hope that this is true, otherwise we have thrown 90K down the tubes.
We purchased a Plumbing stop **** from this supplier. The product literally burst apart in the roof of a client a few days after installation and flooded their home. They have agreed that it was a faulty product. They arranged to send out someone to assess the damage on the 6th August. Wilfred of their offices came to do the assessment. 5 days later we followed up with them and they asked that we get a contractor to do a quote to repair the damage. This was frustrating because what was the purpose of sending Wilfred if not to arrange for the repairs to be effected. We had to arrange another onsite meeting with a contractor who quoted for the damages (about 13K). This quote was sent on 11 August. After numerous follow-ups we are still waiting for an answer. They tell us they are waiting for their insurance to approve. I believe they should appease the client, irrespective of the insurance claim. If the insurance pays out, good for them. If not, what happens to the client? To complicate matters, this property was sold and the new owners are now moving in and are having to deal with these issues that could have been repaired while it was vacant.
We purchased a Caravan cover from BBOATSSA.COM in mid October 2020. We dealt with Cammy. The cover we purchased was only used for about 2 and a half months as we were away for the whole of December. It tore yesterday. We contacted them and got this reply: "our covers are not covered against storms or heavy winds as it is a uv protective cover and waterproof cover. That was also mentioned in the photo that was sent to her with the price, waterproof cover. All that can be done now is to have you send the cover back to us on your account, I book it into our warehouse system so that they can check it. They will then give me feedback on it, there will also be a 15% handling fee charged on the cover." Just as a comparison, our previous cover (not supplied by BOATSSA.COM) lasted for 6 years, and was still usable when we replaced it and the caravan was parked in the same position as this one that tore so quickly. We expressed concern the day we got the cover that it was too large for our PENTA caravan, but was assured it was the right size. It came with no instructions and was loose fitting, so we sent photo's to show Cammy. She then sent photo's showing how it should be tied, which we then did the same day. To my surprise, after we complained today, she sent those same photos (the ones we sent her to ask for advice on how to tie it down) back to us today and said that the cover tore because we had not tied it down properly. Incredulous! We are very disappointed and still feel that this cover which was advertised to fit our caravan was too big. They try to make a "one size fits all", but then it is loose fitting and if it gets damaged by the wind, they say it is not under their guarantee. The only reason the wind catches the cover, is because it is too big and does not hug the caravan properly even when tied down correctly. I do hope they take our complaint seriously and will give feed back in a couple of days. P.s. I have now just received another message from Cammy referring to their terms and conditions which states, "Courier cost of returns is for the customers account and subject to a 15 per % handling fee". It is ridiculous that she is applying this to a return of a faulty product. I can understand if we changed our mind about a purchase and returned it, but this is a different situation. Not impressed.
