I asked for people to quote in a local Facebook group to have my late father's wooden floors sanded and resealed. I ended up going with Hello Love Steelworks and Interiors. And what a mistake that was. My floors are completely ruined. The finish was patchy, shiny in some spots, dull in others, after a week the floor was still tacky and I stuck to the floor. I contacted Degan who owns the company and did the work and he told me he had used top quality product that actually takes 14-16 days to cure as opposed to the 24 hours he'd originally told me. After this time there was no improvement, I contacted him again and he said he'd come round and look, he didn't, a week later I again asked when he would come look, he ignored my message for a time. I had to get someone else to come in and try fix it at an additional cost, which I couldn't really afford, but it had to be done. I informed degan that since he hadn't responded I now had to pay someone to come fix his botched job and that he must pay for it. He agreed to pay in 2 installments. The floor was fixed to the best of the new guys ability, but now the even colour showed up what the patchiness had been hiding, deep sander marks and ripples throughout the whole house due to him not knowing how to use the sander correctly, the edges showed where he had stopped with the sander and showed different colours and dips all around the edges where he hadn't sanded down enough. I am now left with a floor full of marks and cannot afford to get it all sanded down again to the raw wood to try even out the marks, as it would involve serious sanding as well as removing all skirting boards to get to the edges properly. And the wood would then also maybe too thin, which would mean replacing the whole floor. He has been giving me the run around for 2 weeks now when I ask when I can expect my refund, and based on information I have recently found out about other jobs he has done and messed up, I'm not likely to get my money back. But I will be taking him to small claims court so at least its on record. I am horrified by the standard of his work, I could probably have done it better myself, and there is no remorse. So please, avoid this company at all costs or you will regret it. I just wish I could post photos here to show the floors, my heart sinks every time I look too closely. This man has done so much damage, not just physically to the floors, but to me financially and personally, as I lost my father in July and it is his house I am fixing up to sell to pay for estate costs, and looking at the floors just makes me feel I've let my dad down.
I tried to see if they were interested in buying my late father's furniture, they said they weren't able to offer me anything but I was welcome to donate the items to help the community. I had just lost my father and didn't feel like dealing with a load of people coming and haggling, and my father was a good man so I thought to save the hassle I would donate it to them to help people out. As they are listed as a charity. I stupidly assumed the furniture would be donated to people who needed it within the community. I then see it all advertised, a complete total of R8880. I asked where this money would go, would it go to charity, I was told no, they tried to explain that helping the community was by offering cheaper furniture. And acted like I should be grateful they came and took it for free, as I explained I could've advertised it anywhere for free and people would've taken it for free. If I'd known it would be just to line their pockets and add to their profit margin I would never have donated it to them, I would've rather given it to a real charity. Or i wouldve just tried selling it myself as my dad left behind lots of debt. Very misleading and will never deal with them again. I have brought from them as well, and found one couch leg had just been hammered in with numerous nails which was never disclosed. So if you think your donation to them is going to help anyone, please rethink and find a real charity. I just wish I had double checked where the furniture was going before giving it to them. Suppose it's my fault I didn't do more research.
Reviewing on behalf of my father who went into debt review with EZ debt in 2019. Paid every month, yet still receiving letters from fnb, Edgars saying they are not receiving payments. Saying that still after paying out all these years he still owes what his original debt was. He has requested a statement, which he should have been receiving every month, but has received nothing from them. He is almost 70 and doesn't understand the whole process or what is going on. He is now at the point of taking it to the NCR to try help him.
A marketing company I have never heard of have been taking money from MY account, I have contacted the company and told them to stop, they still take. ABSA tell me they cannot stop this, ridiculous. I have not signed into an agreement with these people yet they can take money from my account, and my bank who I trust with my money will do nothing about it, I have to take it up with the company. I am fuming, people can access your account with your money, take it and your bank will not stop it. Really??? Absa you have failed miserably and now I will be closing my account, if you cannot protect your customers and allow their money to be stolen then you can keep your account.
Last month I received an sms saying a debit order for R99 was being taken from my account, no idea who it was so went to my absa branch, put a stop order on it, they still took the money, had it reversed (another trip into the bank) I phoned sage pay who deals with setting up these debits, they couldn't help me, and put me through to Pragasen as the number I had for them was not in service. I told the lady in no uncertain terms I had not authorised this and to ensure they stopped stealing my money, she said she would put a stop on it and an investigation would be done, I heard nothing back. This month I received a reminder to credit my account for the debit order! New reference number but same company, same amount. I went again into my bank this morning, put another stop on it. The lady informed me there is no way I can permanently stop them taking money, they can just carry on using different reference numbers, they only way is for me to get a lawyer, get legal wise or take out their legal cover for R80 a month. How can people go into my account and just take my money without permission. I'm a single mom and every rand I have precious, will just close my account
