Bree St.: the experience went from too-good-to-be true to being non-existent. I was looking to buy cabinet pulls to match some that I previously purchased at this store. I visited in person, and they said they didn't carry that type any longer. However, they phoned the Sommerset West branch and confirmed that the item was in stock there -- they even said they would arrange with someone from that branch to bring the item home, so that I could collect it much closer to where I live. I was amazed at the excellent service. Of course, I never heard from them again. A few days later, I phoned and was told they would phone back. No further contact since then. Why pretend to do customer service when you don't care?
Based on good online reviews, I took a chance on Woodford (whom I had never heard of previously) for a recent car rental at the Jo'berg airport. I wish I hadn't. The booking was fine, but upon arrival there was a huge line. None of the other, many car rental places had a line, just this one. Eventually, the actual car and rental were process were ok. The return is what got me -- we opted to not refill the car since there is a R75 surcharge to top off regardless. The attendant confirmed that the fuel cost would match that at the pump. So, we opted to return the car with a 1/4 full tank. This is a KWID, specified to have a 28-L tank and get 4.7 L/100km. We were charged R703 (30.5 L) of fuel. To query the amount filled and the disconnect wrt tank size, I wrote to the reservations WhatsApp (which it said to do if you have issues). That turned out to be an auto-numbered-only reply which directed me to a second WhatsApp. I wrote to the second number, and was told to send email. I sent email and within a day or two, I got a response from a person. The response? "Fuel is expensive" and the cost was commensurate with the distance driven. Doing the calculation, a total of 39.2L were filled and we drove 487 km. That means that they filled > 30 L (on a quarter-full 28-L tank) and thought 7.7L/100km was reasonable consumption. They don't talk facts, just wave their hands. I won't use them again -- and if you do, fill up before returning!
I would never use Bosman plumbing (Constantia) again. They arrived, heard exactly what I told the woman when I called, said they couldn't help and recommended getting a leak detector. Then we got a bill for R780. When I queried what we were paying for, I was told multiple things that were flat out wrong (like that I had been informed of the call out fee -- nope -- that they had rectified the problem -- nope -- and that I told them the issue was a faulty valve -- nope, because we had just replaced it!). From there, they brought up threats. Zero value and abysmal customer service. I mistakenly called this company rather than Clyde Bosman (Lakeside), who have been great. I won't make that mistake again!
I was shopping online at https://matoc.co.za/ and placed a few items in my cart. The next day, when I went to complete the purchase, the order would not go through because the price increased. I sent an email to the contact given on the website. I received a reply within a few hours and I was given a contact phone number. When I made contact with Yunus, he immediately informed me that he was aware of the issue and would sort it out. WIthin minutes, he sent photos of the items I wanted, boxed them up,, and provided an invoice at the original price. Two days later, received the package.
