Since 2022 I am using this company. I did choose them because first they are insurance approved and 'apparently' professional. Why apparently? For me, professionalism also means being honest and taking ‘responsibilities', accept mistake. NO ONE IS PERFECT IN THIS WORLD. 1. I notified them without blaming about a dent that I have noticed after they had serviced my car. Riaan talked a lot about it, taking me for a ****. 2. I complained about the brakes. They fixed the brakes and just few months later, the brakes were not right. (Comparing to the previous time my brakes were fixed (lasted +/- 2 years before Riaans auto worked on them). This time, in my presence Riaans only cleaned dust and the brakes were fine again. However, they should think I was taking chances. In addition, there was no problem at all with brakes when I took the car for service on 4 March 2024, just after service there were lot of noises while driving, not while braking. I took the car back the next day, asking why after service I am having this problem. They charged me +R1900 for brakes, without any fight, I paid. 3. Same day, because they mentioned 'misfire', I asked them to check what is causing it; they charged me +R1300 for this, I peacefully paid. So, in total +R3200. 4. After they have given me the car, I spent over R1500 in in petrol few days without driving a lot; I didn't know why I was losing petrol so fast. Until I opened the bonnet and noticed lot of petrol leaking by the injectors. I don't want to say other stuff here, but REALLY Riaans says to me that they think I tried to fix the injectors myself and then taking the car to them so that they can do it for free! Big lie and really unprofessional saying this to me. Accusing me for always complaining and taking chances so that they can fix my car for free. Things that I have never even thought and can't do. Pretending that they have never touched the injectors where petrol was leaking. I am the one who did it, is a big professional lie. Riaans Auto Repair doesn’t remember the first thing I told them, I don't take my cars to cheap places and/or to the back yard mechanics. That is why I peacefully paid them for WHATEVER they charged me. 5. Riaans Auto Repairs can also understand that they are IMPERFECT; they can MAKE MISTAKES, ADMIT errors and SINSERILY apologies. So, finally, bad service and unprofessional.

I had a severe steering shudder on my Suzuki Jimny 2016 model. After taking my vehicle to supaquik in Strand for wheel alignment and balancing, it shuddered even worse. Finally, after trying many other things, I was referred to Riaans Auto Services in Church Street Somerset West. After listening to my problem, and test driving the car, the man immediately diagnosed it as "death wobble". I drove away that same afternoon with what felt like a brand new car ! The man is a genius!!

Contrary to the good reviews they've received. These are not mechanics who go out of their way to assist you. Not worth their salt. Having the car with them almost an entire 7-day week, for a 2-3 hour job. They couldn't even keep me updated. As client, I always had to ask for an update. Bad workmanship, in that they never kept all parts they removed from vehicle. AFTER I expressly informed them to keep all parts they take out. For me as the client to validate the work done. and see what was removed/repaired. No handshaking when receiving your vehicle, I even had to call them out to the vehicle to insert a bolt they lost unmounting the Air filter. Utterly disgusted, thinking people like this doing negligent work on motors, and not returning everything in the motor they've unmounted. Makes one question their work ethics. Those reading bad reviews also, don't waste your time and money with these people. And they are pricy compared to others. For good work, I don't mind paying, but should leave someone with peace of mind. Cost me 4.5K just to replace a water reservoir and thermostat housing, small hose and clamp and caps. Just the labor alone was half of the bill. Exorbitant! After I tested the vehicle, now the radiator doesn't even come on. Something I'll have to remedy now, as they claim, but it wasn't part of what they worked on. And only cover the parts they worked with. One red flag already for me should have been, how do you quote on a thermostat to be replaced? Only to alter the quote and find later that the entire thermostat housing needs to be replaced. Hint! The thermostat is situated INSIDE the thermostat housing, yet you wanted to originally replace the thermostat only, but couldn't see you needed to replace the housing also? I'm lost for words on *********** mechanics who just want to make quick bucks.

I have used Riaan's Auto Repairs several times in the past, and was always impressed with their service. The fact that they have someone in the office that understands cars makes it easier to book a service, and that they do a full check on your car, alerts you to issues you may not be ware of. They do work on your car just to make extra money, if they do not need to do anything they will tell you. Last week they went out of their way to assist my mother with some serious issues with her car, going beyond what was expected of them.
