Roots Butchery & Restaurant â Festival Mall, Cape Town â Extremely Disappointing
I visited Roots at Festival Mall, Cape Town on 27 January 2026. Paid inside the store and bought ribs, which were unpleasant Bought food outside at the restaurant: pork (overcooked and dried out), beans, chakalaka, salad, pap, and beetroot (tasted like jam) At the restaurant, we asked twice how long the food would take to prepare, but received no feedback We sat waiting and waiting, and had to get up and ask again how far the food was, only to be told it had been done a long time ago Food was served cold and unpleasant Bad smell at the seating area where we ate Walkers/beggars were allowed in to beg and disrupt diners while eating Tried to resolve the issue with staff, but no satisfactory solution was offered Email sent to Roots head office with the inside store slip attached; the outside restaurant slip is lost, but I have proof of payment via my banking record This experience was extremely frustrating and unacceptable for a brand like Roots. I hope the head office or operations team takes this seriously to improve food quality, preparation communication, hygiene, and customer service, and to provide a proper resolution for customers. Wrong order
I went to Rootd Festival Mall on Saturday to buy braai me, vors and pap. 1st the teller captured wrong price, OK she noticed and told me that the price was wrong. We decided to re-do the price. 2nd when I am supposed to get my food I struggled until I was given my food. I left thinking the food was correct only find when I arrived at home my food was not what I ordered đŠđŠđŠđŠI was so annoyed and I couldn't go back because I am I Norkem Park. The ladies the are confused by crowd and when you want to clarify your order they get irritated hence they give you a the wrong order. How many get this kind of experience đđđ

HYGIENE MATTERS!!!!!
My husband bought five take away's of beef stew and lamb stew at festival mall roots restaurant and after eating that the whole family was sick, it got so bad that my 5 year old was rushed to the hospital and they confirmed it was food poisoning. Veryyyy disappointing!!!!! Good hygiene is critical for preventing the spread of infectious diseases.

The best date night! Amazing place!
The best restaurant we have been to, we celebrate every anniversary there, and every time it is special! It is that place that remains timeless and the menu is different every-time. Also you never leave unsatisfied and you are stuffed. Really great experience! Highly recommend it!

Truly a taste experience every time we have gone. I really love this restaurant with is amazing cuisine, attention to detail and exceptional service. Runny tummy
My name is Zanele Siyo, yesterday I bought food from Roots Restaurant/shisanyama at Diepkloof square Soweto! So I bought chicken and beef stew with rice and salads. Well it was my first time buying food from there, and I regret every minute of it, I ate the chicken stew with rice and salads, my tummy started running from early hours of the morning today and still hasn't stopped and as I write this I'm in pain and tummy is still running, I didn't even go to work, and mind you, it's the only thing I eat yesterday and drank water! I'll never advise anyone I know to buy there! Don't know whether your food had expired or the ingredients, I'm very disappointed! I'm currently in pain thanks to you, no more!!!

How to WOW a customer
Out for brunch, I ordered the basket of samosa and mini pork sausages,<br> Unfortunately the sausages were under cooked<br> I asked that they be cooked a little more<br> Waitress was very apologetic, then supervisor came and again apologized<br> When the waitress returned I received a newly made basket, not just the sausages<br> When I asked why, the waitress said with a. Huge smile 'this is how we apologize'<br> <br> Well done Roots, I will definitely recommend your food and fantastic service
