I had to renew my Critical Skills visa and assumed it would be just copy and paste from my original submission. SAMI quickly corrected that misconception. Consultant Megan explained DHA had tightened standards and that supporting proofs needed to reflect recent employment history and current professional registration. Without that insight I would have submitted an outdated application and probably ended up rejected. My stressful moment was when one of the supporting letters from my employer was formatted incorrectly. Instead of rejecting the submission outright, Megan contacted my HR department directly and helped them rewrite the document to DHA standards. This added a three day setback and I was anxious, but SAMI handled the correction professionally and kept me from panicking. The renewal was approved with no follow-up questions, something I honestly didn’t expect given how strict DHA has become. The service wasn’t cheap, but it was worth every rand.
