My list of complaints for Smart Guy are endless. The staff are extremely rude and are very unwilling to help. Our initial appointment was really good. They were very nice and professional and ready to help us. We decided on a suit for my fiancé and suit hire for our groomsmen. While we were there we tried on a dress for my brides****s and we loved it. We decided to get them made by them. They were very confident they could make that dress in the colour that we wanted. After that first appointment, everything went down hill. It was weeks before they contacted us again to come and see the material. The colour was perfect but we weren't sure about the material as it was very different to the material of the dresses we tried on. They said we shouldn't worry because they know what they're doing and it will look the same. Again, it was weeks before they contacted us again to come and take measurements. Another couple of weeks went by and we went back to try on the dresses and suits. We were told that the dresses were basically done. The last step was to put the zip in to ensure it fits properly. When we got there, the dresses were all completely wrong sizes. It seemed like they didn't even look at the measurements that they took previously. When I tried to mention my concerns I was always met with "We know what we're doing. When *this part* gets done all the rest will be fine" They never took the time to explain the process to help ease our minds. They refused to listen to my concerns, such as the length being wrong or the sleeves being too loose. Another concern was with my flower girl dresses. They made lacy sleeves way to small so the girls could not even lift their arms above their heads. When I complained I was told "That's how the material is. You don't get stetchy lace." Which I know for a fact is not true as I had a lot of lace on my own dress. Every single concern was just brushed off. When we came for what was supposed to be our final appointment, they brought out the big boss, I think her name is Annemarie. This seemed to be a tactic to scare us into keeping quiet and just accepting what was done. I was again vocal about my concerns and was met with extreme rudeness by Annemarie and the rest of the team. None of the dresses were right. They were either too big or too small or the sleeves were wrong or the dresses were too short or too long. Again I complained about the flower girls sleeves. Eventually I told them to just take off the sleeves and we'll have the girls dresses without sleeves. They got so angry that they picked up scissors and basically ripped the sleeves off while it was still on the girls. My brides**** dresses had a flap that was meant to run right down the middle of the 2 legs, my **** of honours flap was very skew which made it flap open everytime she took a step. We complained, so they pinned it up and said they would sew it fixed. My wedding was on Saturday the 29th of April. On Wednesday the 26th of April, all the dresses and suits were collected. When we tried on the dresses, my **** of honours dress was again wrong. It was previously too small so they had to extend the middle a little bit. The dress was extended on one side and not the other which made the entire dress skew. The one side of the dress was perfect, and the other side was too big. It looked absolutely ridiculous. The flap seemed to have been fixed but when the dress was taken off we found the pin still attached. They did not even touch that part of the dress. We had to scramble to find someone to help us on such short notice. Luckily we found someone to help but the dress could not actually be fixed to how it was supposed to look. All that could be done was to make it fit enough that the dress didn't fall off. I am extremely disgusted at the service we received from Smart Guy. The people are rude and do not seem to care about their clients. A wedding is such a beautiful day and we expected to have been met with happiness and excitement which was not at all what we got. When my mom went to return the hired suits, they wanted to keep our R600 deposit because she didn't have the 3 hangers (which were generic hangers that could be bought for about R10). She asked how much the hangers cost, thley initially said they were R50 each, but that they would still keep the entire deposit. Then she was told she could just quickly pop into checkers and buy some cheap hangers. They wanted to keep our R600 deposit for 3 hangers that were worth about R10. Luckily my mom found some hangers in her car and they gave her the deposit back. Overall our experience was absolutely terrible. I will never recommend Smart Guy to anyone. I will, in fact, be telling everyone I know to never use them.

On recomendation from a friend we approached this business to supply us with clothing for my daughters wedding that was a month away. The owner sent us a quotation and never supplied a invoice for the materials or the service. We were happy with the quotation and gave the go ahead for her to proceed with this order. My mother and I drove to the Pretoria branch to have our measurments taken and view the suit that was available for rental for me.A picture of the dress my mother wanted was give to the staff after measurments was taken and we discussed that soft material should be used and that she would be able to use the outfit for other occations. We where assured that this is possible. A few days later my wife and mother visited the Potchefstroom branch and the measurments was taken again and everything regarding the dress was discussed with the owner we even supplied a picture of what we wanted the dress to look like to the owner of the company. The owner of the company supplied us a sample of the material and this was accepted as the material was soft. They could not supply us with the material and assured us that they had a suitable replacement that was very similar to what was suggested. A photo was sent to us via whatsapp of the material they intended to use for my mothers outfit. We had some objections as the image had a greenish reflection and did not look like what was suggested. She assured us that this was a good option. My mother and I went for fitting about 2 weeks later. My mothers outfit was way to big and the material was very heavy and caused irretation on the skin as they did not put any lining in to protect her skin against the abrasive texture of the material that was used. They assured us that they would fix the issue. A few days later we visited the Potchefstroom branch again to fit the suit i would be renting. They had to yet again take measurments as the suit was not properly tailored as per previouse measurments taken at the Pretoria branch. My mothers outfit was again discussed and the owner assured us our concerns would be adressed and the end product would be what we asked for. The owner assured us the outfits would be ready for collection the monday before the wedding in the event that a final adjustment on the outfits would be needed. They did not keep to the promise the owner made and we only received the outfits on the Thursday afternoon. We immediatly started to fit the outfits and saw that the alterations that was made to my mothers dress was totally unacceptable and photos was sent to the owner. My rented suit was also not as per the measurments that was taken by them twice in two different locations. This was also communicated to the owner via whatsapp with pictures. We had no time to go back to them as wedding proceedings already started the following day. I had to make a plan and purchase pants for the suit and the undercoat was unacceptable to wear for a function like this. The owner assured me that she would make this up to us as this is not on standard. She admitted on whatsapp that they had made a mistake and they would compensate me for the bad quality of the outfits. Till now we could not come to agreement and the owner is not willing to come up with a solution to my issue. I have raised this with her on whatsapp and via email. We also made the mistake of paying this company up front for the outfits.

I hired my suit by them and organized to bring the suit back after my honeymoon to which they agreed, after bringing my suit back they wanted to charge me an extra R95 for each day the suit is late. They also did not want to refund me the fee after I paid 2500 for the suit, after the fact that we called and they confirmed the price to hire a suit was R950 Worst service ever, stay away from this place as the people working there is very rude

Not recommended at all!! I had my wedding dress and bridemaids dresses design and maide by them, they have made changes without my permission, the night before my wedding they were still busy making my dress, my one bridesmaid ask for an infinity dress and it was R1400 and it looked like and R300 dress, besides that it was not even an infinity dress, I'm not sure if this people know what they are doing. The other bridesmaid dress was ruined with a big knot thing and they just told her toe wear a belt to not make it visible!!! If you phone the lady to find out about your dress half of the time she ignores you. Not recommended at ALL!!

Not recommended at all!! I had my wedding dress and bridemaids dresses design and maide by them, they have made changes without my permission, the night before my wedding they were still busy making my dress, my one bridesmaid ask for an infinity dress and it was R1400 and it looked like and R300 dress, besides that it was not even an infinity dress, I'm not sure if this people know what they are doing. The other bridesmaid dress was ruined with a big knot thing and they just told her toe wear a belt to not make it visible!!! Smart Guy & Smart Bride did not deliver bridesmaids' dresses as contracted. The dresses were oversised after fittings, detail was stitched skew, and fit poorly on five bridesmaids. Dresses were unwashed with marker smudges on them.

Hired 2 suits, tie’s and pocket hankies. Service was acceptable but in the end far more expensive than anticipated. Shop around and compare their pricing before contracting them. If you do decide to use their services, make sure you agree in writing up front the all inclusive cost before signing anything, and get a copy.
