I have been waiting on feedback from SMD since my car was sold over 3 weeks ago. I went into the branch to hand in my car documents and since then been following up on payment, there is no response to emails nor does the branch or head office ever answer the phone. What am i supposed to do at this point?

On the 15th of May 2025 I made a payment of R1522 for duplicate papers there wasn’t a change of ownership made by the previous owners so the vehicle was still owned by SMD since it was purchased by the previous owner and the papers was lost so now the car is in my possession and I’ve paid and app**** for the duplicate papers and since then there was no communication I’ve been continuously emailing them and phoning them but I do net get an answer back it’s very frustrating as this month is now the third month since I’ve made payment with no feedback from them whatsoever, they told me that the duplicate would take 3 weeks after payment but it has been well over 2 months , so how long could this take half a year or a full year or do they just not care to help even if I’m not a client of SMD I bought the car and it is in my possession and my uncle previously bought the car from SMD so he is the client and he does not have the time to dispute these matters that’s why we made an affidavit with a certified copy of his ID , what’s so difficult for them just to get in one of their cars and physically go to the licensing department to dispute the matter because surely it can’t take more then 2 months to print out a duplicate paper , I do not know what to do anymore, I stay all the way in Pretoria and it is difficult for me to travel to Boksburg for nothing as I did before .

Good day My name Portia Nkosi. I made a mistake of not pressing quickpay and not putting in the correct reference nd used my id number instead. I would love to be assisted in knowing what is gonna happen because the payment is due today. I sent the payment of amount R42 431,75 yesterday. The error i did was to go to recent history payment of that R5000 bidding payment and just pressed send. I should have pressed new payment which was going to give me options for instant payments. I thought the way i send the R5000 will be the same way since i used instant on that R5000. It is totally my fault but the money has been sent. I contacted my bank. They say the money is out. Below is my proof of payment Your help will be highly appreciated Thank you

I was disappointed to learn that the personal items I went to collect within my car (after the car was assessed and written off as part of insurance procedure) was left in disarray and with various items stolen. The staff member who walked me to the car was nonchalant and nonresponsive when I asked about the items and when I pointed out that someone stole my things, including my six year old daughter's sunglasses and a foldable car trash bin. These were not high value items, but it's nonetheless disconcerting that a "trusted" salvage yard would tolerate theft among its employees. Ironically, they check the visitors coming in and going out for stolen items, perhaps they should shift their focus to employees.

Buy a vehicle , pay for towing and that's it .... no feedback , no information and God help you if you phone. They don't answer their phones and are totally useless. I won't even go into smd logistics , same story with them , pay your money and that's it . No feedback , no interest. I have to know when my vehicle will be there so I can receive it. I will never use smd or smd logistics again, this is the third vehicle I have purchased from them and same issues every time. Never again.
