I feel like I wrote Bevan’s review of Solara as this is exactly what happened me as the Project Manager for my client in Newlands. New fabric for existing awnings were replaced by Solara who had installed the original awnings historically. Absolutely shocking service, communication and post installation disaster. One of the awnings installed skew and getting the team back required a lot of following up. Had an independent professional awning company come and assess their work after the brackets started coming out of the wall, and the ENTIRE awning fell out of the wall and onto my clients housekeepers head when she opened the awning! This could’ve been fatal. An assessment and findings revealed that the bolts and *****s were too short for the weight and length of the awnings. A minor item, but still a finding- the fabric was measured shorter than the arms to name a few. We eventually got a competent awning company to replace the entire broken brackets, arms and to reinstall correctly and safely. I would NEVER recommend this company or their staff.

We paid a 70per cent deposit on 23 May 2019 for 4 outdoor weather blinds and were told manufacture time would be 4 weeks. It's now 28 August 2019 and we have still not received our blinds. Michael Van Schaik doesn't return your calls or emails once he has received your money. The last 2 months have been endless empty promises from Maggie, the receptionist. We have asked them to return our deposit, but our emails get ignored. To date there is no outcome as to when or if we will ever see the blinds or be able to get our money back. AVOID SOLARA AWNINGS.

On 3 June I paid SolarA a deposit of R26000 for awnings... they are the preferred suppliers in my complex and I had no other choice than to use them ..promised delivery time 4-6 weeks . It is now 25 August ... still no awnings , they don’t return calls , eventually the owner Mike ‘s PA is trying to assist ... he does not return emails , phone calls , she is always telling me in two weeks time , in two weeks time , in two weeks time . I asked for my money back - no response . STAY AWAY from this business - their service and communication is non existent!!! I want my money back !!!

We had our retractable awnings refurbished by Solara Awnings in February 2019. The original awning was also from Solara. The service has been terrible. They were late with the delivery of the awning and recently, during the high winds we experienced in Cape Town, the protective cover blew off the frame as it was never secured when it was reinstalled. I have contacted Suzette, the owner's assistant, on 0219513104 on three separate occasions and sent an email which she acknowleges as having received, and nothing has happened. Suzetter assures me she has passed on the message to the owner, Michael, but he is yet to contact me.
