I bought lamb chops at Spar Sunningdale for like R150 today and they were literally rotten to the core. I felt sick sick just tasting them. They were covered in excessive babarque sauce and this is the 3rd time now this issue occuring and this time around I just couldnt take it anymore. I dont understand why they sell rotten meat/off meat which has health implications and this is a trend over and over! This is utterly unacceptable and a **** esp for an expensively weighted lamb chops!

Hi people just want to update you about the Spar in Sunningdale parklands . Bought R400 Chicken from them on Sunday 16/02/2025 only to realise that 2 packs of the chicken was off that we wanted to make the evening . We then decide to freeze all the chicken for return because we don't want to risk anything and would only get a chance on Tuesday to return it . The lady at the front desk understood my point and was willing to do the refund but she had to check with the manager. He comes with very lame excuses he cannot take the chicken back because the chicken was frozen and the chicken comes from different suppliers so he would only refund the pack that was open and smelling and oh yes, he's doing us a favour because we didn't have the receipt even though, it clearly showed on the labels that it was bought at Spar Sunningdale. Not just that but his cold handling process is perfect so it must be the suppliers fault and not his stores problem. Another lame excuse for not doing the refund. It's sad because if this was handled correctly, I would have gladly continued to shop there but now I am just left with a sour taste in my mouth due to poor management from the Store manager.

Overview: A concerning incident was reported at Sunningdale Spar, where expired pork shoulder bacon was discovered on a shelf. This lapse in food safety practices raises significant questions about the store's quality control and overall food handling protocols. Details of the Incident: During a routine shopping trip on September 28, 2024, an individual stumbled upon a shelf stocked with pork shoulder bacon that had expired just five days earlier, on September 23, 2024. This discovery is particularly alarming given the store's recent accolade of "Spar of the Year," which suggests a standard of excellence that seems to have faltered in this instance. Confrontation with Store Management: Upon reporting the expired product to management, the individual experienced an unsatisfactory interaction with the store manager, who reportedly snatched the expired bacon from my hands. This response not only raises concerns about the handling of customer feedback but also suggests a potential attempt to avoid accountability for the expired goods on the shelf. Implications for Food Safety: The presence of expired food products poses serious health risks to consumers. As someone with expertise in safety and food quality, it is alarming to note that such a fundamental oversight occurred in a store that has been recognized for excellence. It begs the question: what other expired or unsafe products might be lurking on the shelves?
