Scores reflect the Overall AI Score for each category
Based on recent customer reviews, Sportscene shows a deeply mixed customer experience with frequent complaints about staff conduct, product durability, and account management. Pockets of excellence emerge through named consultants who deliver standout service, but these are overshadowed by recurring issues around returns disputes, sneaker quality concerns, unauthorised account charges, and inconsistent in-store treatment across multiple branches nationwide.

Based on recent customer reviews, Sportscene shows a deeply polarised experience. A small group of customers celebrate named in-store assistants who go the extra mile, but the dominant pattern is frustration with rude staff, account billing surprises, refund refusals, and questions over product quality on premium sneakers. Issues with TFG account add-ons, store-level inconsistency, and CCTV or theft incidents recur across multiple branches nationwide.
The most common complaint about Sportscene, based on Hellopeter's AI analysis of recent customer reviews, is Customer Service & Support. Customers repeatedly describe rude cashiers, dismissive managers, and humiliating treatment across branches including Pavilion, Waterfront, Cresta, and Goldfields. Bright spots exist with named staff like Lamar, Phumla, Sello, and Mbuso, but these are exceptions in an otherwise adversarial service culture (1.5).

I am extremely disappointed with the service received from Sportscene and TFG customer service. On 8 May 2026, I sent a formal complaint to cscomplaints@tfg.co.za regarding a pair of Jordan sneakers I purchased from the Sportscene store at Pavilion Shopping Centre for approximately R3400. The sneakers are only about two months old and have been worn fewer than five times, yet they are already showing signs of poor quality and durability. I explained in my email that I take good care of my shoes and that this level of deterioration is unacceptable for a premium-priced sneaker and a reputable brand such as Jordan. I also requested assistance regarding an assessment, replacement, or possible resolution. To date, I have not received any acknowledgement, feedback, or response from TFG customer service. It is very frustrating to spend a significant amount of money on a product that does not meet reasonable quality expectations, only to then be ignored when attempting to resolve the matter professionally. I expected much better customer service and product quality from Sportscene and TFG. I would appreciate urgent assistance and communication regarding this matter.

Hi. I'm very disappointed with a Sportscene staff member ( Sthembiso) as per till slip. I went there today to pay my account. There was no one of the tills but he was not far from it because he saw me coming in. I stood there by the tills clearly indicating that I needed help. He continued packing , then I asked if he could help me make a payment. He responded by saying I can go pay at other stores like jet because I'm disturbing him while he's packing. His service was disappointing but I insisted to pay then he finally came to assist with an attitude. I believe customers should be given priority first.
