Guys if you are ever passing by Villiers going to Johannesburg and if you have a break down please do not use the towing services called (SWANIES TOWING) These guys rob a lot of people so please check they reviews on google. My experience was terrible where by the guy by the name of Henny comes with his truck after the 24hr N3 road safety service came and called these guys for us...only for Henny to come there to tow us with his flat bed truck which didn't wanna start when it came time to tow us. the Vehicles wheel bearing broke which did not allow the car to have gears. He ended up taking us to his bosses house which they have chicks growing in their garage and got 1 brown big Dane dog. They said the car will be fine there and they will check the fault out. My dad and I were stranded for us to go to Jhb. So we asked if they could help us to go to Jhb to collect funds to pay to pay for the repairs. The boss offered to transport us "privately" with the wife's White Toyota Fortuner which costed us R2500 and we still had to take care of the toll fees. On the way to Jhb the boss calles Henny saying he sent a quote to fix the car. The boss quoted us R6300 to just fix a wheel bearing saying the control arm is bent and needs to be repaired. With the situation we were in my dad agreed to the quote. Awaiting in Jhb for the funds to pay Swanies towing only to find out that for every 30mins these guys are charging us R500. At the end we managed to rake up the funds of R8800 to pay so the vehicle could get released. Got back to the bosses house. Nobody was there except for Henny and the one white guy that fixed the car. As we waiting for them to finish verbally insult us in Africans the guy that fixed the car calculates the total amount that these guy came to of a total of R11600. We did not have a single cent either then the R8800. no money for food, toll fees,or petrol. These guys had no remous to tell us. the amount that needs to be paid so that the vehicle could get released. My dad had to plead and beg these guys offering my cellphone value of R6000 in place for the remaining of the bill just so we could leave and return home. Henney says he's going to his boss to find out. Until his return he says his boss has twenty phones in his closet. Then says his boss dropped the price to R10k. We had to take loans to pay this heartless people. Went to the atm took out the cash paid these guy. And about 10km out of Villiers the vehicle loses gears again and doesn't wanna even move. So we were left again stranded with No Food, No Money and No Toll Fees. Only to call another tow truck which charged us R8200 to bring us to Durban. The car currently stands at Roadstar in over port parked off and still not repaired. Please we need help to stop these people and get our money back. If you need more info please call me on 0659521051

TLDR: Swannies Towing scammed us out of R7000 and never actually fixed anything. They forced us to stay in their dodgy room for the night. They are Liers and thieves. "They arrive and are like guardian angels, but the moment you are hooked onto their tow truck the nightmare begins and you have no way out." We broke down on the N3 25km from Villiers, a tow truck driver from towing 24/ swannies towing (they change their company name to avoid bad reviews) stopped to assist. I asked if they were affiliated to Momentum insurance and was told no but if we do repairs at their workshop the towing is for free. We were told that the job would be about 2 hours to change the belt that had snapped and machine out a part. He informed me that Momentum would send a tow truck from Germiston and would take 2 to 3 hours to get to us. The tow truck driver also informed us that the repair service was a 24 hours service. It is not safe for us to sit on the highway for that period of time. Since we had to have the vehicle repaired and we would sit on the highway for the time it would take to repair the vehicle it seemed a plausible offer, so I never phoned insurance. A flatbed tow truck was sent and loaded us and took us to the workshop which was at a residence. As there was a passenger in the tow truck we were asked to sit in our vehicle, which I thought was strange as in my uninformed knowledge I thought that was illegal. Once we got to the workshop we repeatedly asked for a quote for the repairs and indicated that we did not have a flush cash flow. Each time we asked there was a different excuse why we could not get the quote, waiting for the cost to machine the part, waiting for our boss, have to strip first etc. 4 hours later we were told that the place that was going to machine the part was not available and they could only take it to another workshop the following morning. They "kindly" offered us a bed for the night at an unknown cost. When shown the room, it was filthy, did not even have a kettle or towels, but we agreed beggars can’t be choosers as we did not know where we were, cell phone coverage was poor and we had no transport. The next morning the “boss” arrived and came to speak to us with a quote. The quote was a piece of paper with some figures on it. To our shock there was a towing fee, call out fee and R550 for the room. We negotiated the price and it came down from R7000 to R6000. Our 2 hour job turned into a 26 hour job, with the motor mechanic trying 4 different belts. Watching them put on take off and struggle, not knowing anything about cars, I started getting nervous about the workmanship as it seemed trial and error. Eventually the job was finished and we asked for the invoice, to our surprise we were told they would come and fetch us and take us to the “pub” to pay and the cost was R7000. Once we had paid they would give us the invoice. I tried to dispute this as ethical practice and was told that they would not release our vehicle till we had paid. After 26 hours with nothing to eat or drink we were loosing our drive, we just wanted to get on the road. We were told that if we did not have the R7000 we could stay in the room at a cost till we could raise the money. On paying the money we got a slip of paper that said “order” from “cash” to Land drover defender with services that did not even match what was originally decided on the quote piece of paper, which by the way they don’t give you. Instead of towing they put travel R1200, there was a call out fee just so they could get the full R7000 they thought i would be worth to them. Just happy to be on the road again and away from the night mare of being kept hostage all we wanted was water and something to eat. We were not even 100km away and the belt that they had replaced came off and we had to be towed, but this time through our insurance. We are still waiting the full report but the preliminary report is that they part that had to be machined was never machined, the incorrect belt was fitted. We will get a full report from the mechanic according to the quote. I sent a message and tried to phone Towing 24 (Swannie Towing) but no response. I have read the reviews now, and this is their business plan. Ride up and down the N3, pay the N3 toll assistance, petrol stations etc a referral fee if they see someone broken down. They arrive and are like guardian angels, but the moment you are hooked onto their tow truck the nightmare begins and you have no way out.

Two Elderly woman, one being my Mom, nearing their Eighties, travelling for a weeks break to the Drakensburg, needing to check vehicle oil ,experienced a problem with a BONNET not opening and therefor could not check the oil. They where directed to SWANNIES TOWING, in order to get the bonnet open. The mechanics started stripping the whole car, it took them 5 hours at a cost of R5000. After the initial shock of the cost, my mother suggested payment as a bank transfer. They absolutely refused. They positioned themselves in the said vehicle and threatened her that they would stay in the vehicle until such time that the cash payment was made. They escorted her to a bank to withdraw the cash. They wickedly ripped her off - among other ridiculously stupid costs, they charged R450-00 for engine oil.. I have tried contacting them on numerous occasions, requesting a proper scope of work done, spares and consumables used, and a guarantee, but every time receive a response that the owner is on a CALL OUT, and never responds to my requests. I believe they are running a non legitimate business, exploiting and preying on peoples unfortunate circumstances. I wish there was a way to get these LOWDOWN DIRTY THUGS investigated. These people are proper absolute AMATEURS, LAIRS THIEVES THUGS. PLEASE DO NOT EVEN THINK OF USING THESE PEOPLE!!!!

I advise everyone who ever phones this place to never use them, they are all rude and their customer service is sh*t. I recently had to tow my car to them because I had no other choice. But they make empty promises and they try to skip vat by asking for cash instead of an EFT if you don't bring cash they add a callout fee and something else to make up for the money they would've lost. Over prized, rude and I'm so disgusted in them

Swanies Towing is a rip off!! We were directed to them by another towing company as the former dud not have the alternator for our vehicle. First they wanted us to sign a quotation form without giving a quotation that I endorsed by writing on it that I only after proper quotation is received. I paid for the alternator and labour. Got an invoice and their card only to find a hundred kilometres down car lost power. I had to be towed back to my house. The next day I had my old alternator tested and theirs , only to find that mine could be repaired and theirs was faulty. When I phoned the owner Rolfe, he was extremely rude and basically told me too bad it was working when I left. On Saturday he phoned back to say he will give me only R800 back. I told him I want a full refund of the faulty alternator. I will be taking this up further.

On Sunday 13/12/2015 at about 15 00 hrs the bearings on the air conditioner compressor motor seized rendering my Volvo V50 immobile.
Swannies Towing towed my vehicle to their premises in Villiers.
At the outset prior to any repairs being started I requested a quotation this was not given. I am in a position that I am at the mercy of Swannies and have no other option other than to put my trust in Swannies for a fair deal, this did not happen. DON'T USE SWANIES TOWING OR N3 TOLL VEHICLE.On 14/04/ 2015 we had a breakdown about 30 km before Villiers. 1.30pm. We dialled 112 the emergency number. We called Budget Assist and gave them details of where we were. 1 and half hours later they had not arrived. The N3 patrol vehicle arrived. They gave us the telephone number of Swanies towing. It had been assessed the head gasket had blown. At that time budget assist called and asked us for our location. It was 3pm and as we had our 16 year old daughter with us we called them.Swanies quoted us R2500 to fix the car and said it would take about 3 hours. We asked are they sure it includes the towing , yes they said. The tow truck arrived within 30 minutes and by 4pm we were at their\workshop"in Villiers. They started stripping the car"
