On the 6th of Feb '17 I enquired about Fondant from an online supplier in Pretoria. I was specific about needing the delivery by no later than midday on Friday the 10th. I was told 3 working days, so I placed the order. On Friday morning I checked the courier site for an update, only to discover they had attempted 2 prior deliveries 'unable to locate address' and had left a note to follow up with sender. As I live in a complex and has zero rings atthe gate, I suspected something odd. So I followed up with supplier, who cheekily told me to phone the courier company. So I did and explained that I needed the delivery by lunchtime. Courier informed me the address supplied ons system did not match my address given and agreed to deliver before 12. So I got to baking the four cakes needed for a birthday party. By the time I had completed the baking part of the cakes, I realized it was nearly 2pm. I phoned courier again and was told it would be Monday before I got the parcel. In a panic I tried to call the supplier, who was conveniently not taking calls. Again I phoned the courier (annoyed that the supplier would not even communicate with their service supplier themselves - they are the customer, not me, which makes the situation with courier a little more complicated) after a 28 minute wait on a call to the regional manager, and getting disconnected, I still had no success, I mailed supplier and told them I would not be accepting the delivery and I expected a full refund. I made a plan to get someone to come watch the house as I went hunting for fondant and icing, to salvage the four cakes I had already baked. While out getting the last minute fix, the owner of Sweet Celebrations phoned and assured me the delivery would happen, but as he could not guarantee the delivery and understood my predicament, he offered to refund me the extra purchase I was making in lieue of the delivery. While unneccesary, I appreciated the fact that I was spending a further R229 over and above the R600 already spent with his company. It is now 24 March and no refund has happened. No refund, no response to emails, no answering of phonecalls, no nothing. I did not expect to be offered the refund, but by doing so, he assured himself the fact that I would sign for the goods ordered. I am annoyed that I ended up with the R600's worth of fondant delivered too late for me to utilize it. BAD business practice and just unethical in my opinion. Be careful using this service, if the owner cannot be trusted to honour his word, then its not a brand one should be supporting.
