I had an absolutely unacceptable experience at Alpha Pharm Synergy Megapharm Pharmacy(Synergy Pharmacy). My fiancé and I visited to collect medication that was prescribed to her after a doctor’s appointment. The pharmacist asked us three separate times if we intended to pay cash or submit the cost to our medical aid, and each time we clearly stated that we would be paying cash. Despite this, after paying cash and leaving the pharmacy, I received an email from my medical aid indicating that a claim for the exact same medication had been submitted by the pharmacy. In other words, they attempted to charge us twice for the same medication. I contacted my medical aid, who confirmed the claim and advised me to return to the pharmacy to have it withdrawn. When we went back, the service we received was nothing short of appalling. I spoke with three different staff members, including pharmacists and pharmacist assistants, all of whom displayed dismissive and unprofessional attitudes. No one offered an apology or took accountability for the error. Instead, their demeanour made me feel as though I was the problem or, worse, as though I was trying to **** them, when, in reality, it was their actions that could easily be interpreted as *****ulent. This behaviour is deeply concerning. Many people do not scrutinize their medical aid statements and might not notice such double billing. Whether this was a result of negligence, incompetence, or something more deliberate, I cannot say. However, the complete lack of professionalism, accountability, and empathy during my interaction has solidified my decision to never return to this pharmacy. I have reported this matter to my medical aid and intend to escalate it to the relevant governing bodies to ensure that others are not subjected to the same experience. I strongly urge anyone using this pharmacy to double-check their medical aid statements and ensure they are not being overcharged. This experience has left me disgusted and outraged, and I cannot recommend this pharmacy to anyone.

On 12. October 2023 around noon entered the Alpha Pharm Pharmacy, Megapharm pharmacy in Tokai Junction, Main Road, Kirstenhof, Cape town. On exit while paying for my goods, the cashier sneezed without a mask on, spraying over the counter. There were no glass shield to protect me, in spite of COVID 19 still trife. They had to still observe COVID protocol. When I left the pharmacy, I felt uneasy, went back in, and spoke to the supervisor. She assured me that they still observe COVID protocol. But also told me that when I leave, she is going to ask the staff to place up the panel again, too prevent similar incidents from happening again. I contacted the pharmacy again, the day complaining that I had a full blown flu. I lodged a formal complaint, against the pharmacy, telling them that I lost some business over the weekend, as I had preplanned clients that I could not see. I regularly corresponded with them, with no results. I went to the south African pharmacy council, with worse results. They have no idea as to how to deal with such matters. They failed us investigating this serious matter, as I could have got covid with that sneeze. We still await a report promised to us since April 2023. No responses from them. So, the above pharmacy breaches COVID 19 protocols, I lodge a complaint, they fail to remedy, I lodge another complaint with the only pharmaceutical authority,sapc, and they fail too. Both these institutions has failed me. I will never recommend anybody buying goods at the Alpha Pharm Pharmacy, Megapharm pharmacy in Tokai Junction, Main Road, Kirstenhof, Cape town. They are not interested in the health and safety of their customers. They are protected by the SAPC.
