Refusing to pay refund after 30 days
I have booked for my wedding in 2025 which was meant to be held 28 March 2026 and paid deposit of R20 000 as requested , due to unforeseen circumstances I cancelled wedding on the 31st of December 2025 which was within the notice period. Was requested by Nosipho Ngqulunga to fill in the refund form on that day and advised that payment will be made in 30 days. 30 days have passed and have been doing follow up but nobody want to take responsibility. I have been in contact GM Kerry Reed and the level of disrespect I have been receiving is another level. I have tried everything and I see they have no intention of paying. What worse I can’t even get hold of them telephonically to speak to them.

Missing Jacket !!
We had a beautiful stay at the private suite and I forgot my expensive jacket and called as asked if they can keep it for me , I was told that I can collect it at reception. Due to being pregnant I couldn't go back sooner and when I went to reception, ladies told me that they know nothing about the jacket , the manager who was previously there had resigned and that the office was re-arranged and no jacket was found. I sent an email after enquiring about my missing jacket, almost a year later , NO Feedback from Tala. I am so disappointed of the way they handled this , not sure of one of their staff members stole the jacket . !! I am not happy .

Missing Jacket !!

We were there for my cousins wedding from the 26/09/2025 to 28/09/2025. It's a lovely venue and not much to complain about other than the fact that they need better management. we saw wildlife and my first time seeing a rhino, we went fishing at their ponds and went for a drive in the park. regards to the management - they didn't have the restaurant open on the day of the wedding for the family that was staying near the entrance, the excuse was due to set up of the wedding. there could have been one-person managing in the kitchen and only offering something simple at the very least. other family members had trouble with electricity and hot water, and it took them multiple times to restore. The venue is not wheelchair friendly - although they did land up putting a door as a ramp going to our room... better than nothing! #BlackFriday

Refund disaster, pillar to post no accountability. Dear Tala... You are the custodian of wild and beautiful animals. I know this message is supposed to go to the Tala Collection, but the brand is Tala, and you guys gotta work it out between yourselves after the run around we have been given. We booked a place at Fisherman's. We then emailed to check if children can use this place. No response. Tried various different emails. Still no response. So we cancelled. Finally, we cancelled, because we didn't want to take a chance. Then eventually a response came saying that kids are allowed. We re-booked, paying another full amount. The refund hung somewhere in between perpetuity and heaven. At the Tala reception, they told us to contact Marriott Hotels for our refund. Marriot told us it's not them. Then they told us dream resorts (lower case intended). dream resorts told us that they are not associated with Tala anymore. We still await our refund. We remain hopeful.

I wish i could give it -5 stars. Worst experience i have ever had. The place is so over grown that you cannot see the animals. There are no proper markings to seperate the 4x4 track with the 2x4 track, i damaged my vehicle due to falling in a huge rutt/hole which was coverd by over grown foliage/grass there are so many holes in the fence line which animals are using to escape and run wild in the roads. The staff are absolutely rude in reception area, i saw more staff sitting in the reception area, then outside on the reserve, you have to pay R120 per person & R80 for your vehicle which doesn't make any sense as you damage your vehicle driving on the reserve. Glorified petting zoo

Unsatisfied customer!!!
What was supposed to be exciting turned out to be disappointing. My family and I booked here to celebrate my birthday, we were so excited as we read alot of good reviews. However when we got here it was a total disappointment!!! Our rooms had an awful smell, shower was not working, aircon wasnt working, bathrooms were dirty which is extremely unhygienic, no towels in bathrooms as well. We had such a horrible encounter with a game ranger who had such terrible attitude. Request for help to sort out the stuff that were not working was turned into a deaf ear! I was really looking forward to having a good time here being it was birthday but I was extremely dissatisfied as we have paid for this but received extremely poor service!!!!

However when we got here it was a total disappointment!!! Our rooms had an awful smell, shower was not working, aircon wasnt working, bathrooms were dirty which is extremely unhygienic, no towels in bathrooms as well. Great family holiday at the figtree lodge. Clean and serene! Our game driver was hilarious and we learned so much about wildlife
