I bought a recliner chair from Ted’s in July last year (2025) on my brother and sister-in-law’s recommendation. Over the last 10 days the motorised function started giving problems- working, freezing, not working. I contacted the store and received great service. I live in Scottburgh and am unable to drive. So, they sent their guys down about a week after my contact and they confirmed the control was the problem. They replaced it and checked the chair. And all at No Cost! Brilliant! Thank you Ted’s Home Store

I purchased a leather lounge suite from Ted’s Home Store in October 2023 . Less than two years later, the leather is already cracking and perishing, which is completely unacceptable for a product at this price point. When I contacted the store for assistance, the in-store support was unhelpful and rude. I was referred to a WhatsApp number for after-sales support, which is extremely inefficient. Responses take days (sometimes longer), making proper communication very difficult—especially for someone who works full time and cannot constantly monitor WhatsApp. I initially reported the issue in July 2025, they kept asking me for pictures the insinuated that i caused the damage , they offered to fix one tear but said i must pay R1200. I asked them if its normal for the leather to be perishing and recieved no response at all. Due to work commitments and family issues, I could not continuously chase them. Now I am being told that my guarantee expired in November 2025, and they refuse to assist—despite the delays clearly being on their side. This feels like a deliberate tactic to run down the warranty period rather than provide genuine after-sales support. For a so-called quality leather lounge suite costing R52k, the durability and service are extremely disappointing. The entire suite is peeling and perishing and it cannot be repaired as the same thing will keep happening, this set is **** leather being sold as genuine leather. I would not recommend Ted’s Home Store based on poor product quality and even worse customer service.

Their So called *Genuine Leather is the cheapest and peels-off after two years. Their customer service is non-existent. Stay away from them. They have bad reviews all over social media from several customers across the country.

Around 2016/17 we'd purchased what we were told was supposed to be a very high quality and expensive genuine leather recliner lounge suite from the Teds home store. This however turned out to be anything but true. Barely 2 years later, the leather on the 3 seater middle seat began fraying and peeling. This was quite surprising as this was the least used portion of the suite. Shortly thereafter, and in quite rapid succession, other portions of the lounge suite began showing serious signs of fraying and peeling. Certain areas of the top layers also began coming off, leaving a rough dull look, rather than the original finish. These areas shortly began cracking and tearing apart. With the 1st signs of wear showing, we became quite concerned and contacted Ted's. We were told to contact a lady by the name of Natasha, which we did, and were quite surprised, as right off the bat she was quite dismissave, and attempted to chalk it down to incorrect usage and/poor maintenance etc. She eventually and reluctantly asked us to send her an email and photos etc, which we did. After some follow ups, we were told the matter was still being attended to. At this point, the lock down was instituted as we hadn't heard anything further, we assumed the matter was put on hold due to the lock down. Fast-forward to latter 2021, we again contacted Natasha to resume the matter, but more importantly to notify her of the numerous frays, tears and cracks that the lounge suite now had, and of its rapid deterioration. The so called leather had now also become rough and had numerous blotches etc, and no longer had the original finish or shine. To our surprise however, She told us that she didn't recall our matter at all and that all of "those lounge suites" had already been replaced etc. After much in depth reminding, she eventually recalled the matter and asked us to resend photos etc, but that the matter would take quite a while to look into, as been a long time. We once again sent through all of the above and waiting for feedback. After 2 or 3 months, we followed up with her, at which point she told us that she hadn't received anything and that we must resend everything. One wonders why she didn't contact us if she didn't receive anything, rather than just ignoring the matter aside. This raises a serious concern regarding Ted's professionalism and customer service. We however resent everything yet again. This was around mid 2022 and we once again awaited feed back. Needless to say we've received no feedback, and it became quite apparent that these were delay tactics and that clearly Ted's did not want to assist. We've since purchased another lounge suite and attempted to have the flawed Ted's suite repaired, however the leather continued to deteriorate in other areas and more tears appeared. We therefore put it aside, as it had become too unsightly. We've decided to discard of the suite but it's quite a sore point, as it was quite an expensive suite, added to that, we thought that we'd attempt to reach out once more, and allow Ted's an opportunity to attend to the matter, before we go ahead and post our story on the social media platforms. It would actually be quite a nice gesture if Ted's did indeed attend to, and resolve the issue, as we'd then atleast be able to mention this as an accolade to their customer service.

Do not trust this store, their genuine leather products are definitely the cheapest leather that starts fraying in less than a year. Inferior leather couches that cost an arm and a leg. They will give you the run around and never help.

I bought the Sealy queen mattress for R5000 on the 17th of May 2023 at Ted's Umhlanga and now I'm having sleepless nights because it's making a disturbing noise from the springs. It makes noise even when my 11 year old daughter is turning. I sent the emails and WhatsApp to Natasha from the complaints department and she asked me to attach videos of myself sleeping on that mattress while it's on the floor. I sent the videos including the ones of my baby so she can see the seriousness of the noise. I even took another video putting the mattress back on the video and she's been ignoring since the day I sent those videos and that was on the 17th of March 2025. I went to the store several times to report to the sales man Moses who assisting me when I went to purchase the mattress and he told me he called the sales department and asked them to contact me but noone has made contact with me. I have been taken for a ride by both Natasha and Moses. There's no way a R5000 mattress can make squeaky noise within a period of 10 months.
