Having eaten there this past Sunday i wanted my boss to try one of your dishes so we ordered on Uber Eats. Under the name ****gy. We phoned the store upfront and also added a note on Uber that the Vegetable Korma should not contain cream, milk or dairy for religious reasons. His Veg Korma arrived with chunks of white stuff so we thought it was cheese or paneer which he cannot eat so we gave his meal away and had to share mine. We only get 1 hours lunch to go eat. So later in the day i phoned to complain. THEN only was i told no its not cheese its TOFU. Cant be, i said. Cant be. Nowhere in the ingredients does it state TOFU and had it so done we would have told you no TOFU - i personally cannot stand the stuff, don't even put it on a plate next to my food, eeew. Sure you don't state salt, pepper and other ingrefients, but TOFU is not a staple like salt. Where in the ingredients does it state TOFU in the Vegetable Karma please? Your staff disagree with me saying yes you do add TOFU - again, why is it not listed as an ingredient then? What if you are allergic to it? I just feel hard pressed by this. Money we have, food is what we need. Debate it with me please, look on Uber and tell me if it is a listed ingredient.

The most delicious south indian food i ever tasted. The owner shares recipes with you and is always friendly like all the staff are. The food is so much and well priced that hubby and i have leftovers after filling up on the most tasty indian food.

Worst service ever!! Waiter removed our food whilst eating! Never checked up on us once to ask if food was ok! R500 waisted on the worst experience restaurant ever! We reported to several managers, them an them email too. All of them just said sorry it won't happen again! Not even interested! Pathetic!

Thava Restaurant at Monte Casino is a disgrace to the Indian Cuisine. I visited during Xmas 2021 and i found this restaurant to be the worst in Monte Casino (maybe even all of JHB). They do not serve authentic Indian Curries. Instead what I found was that they make this rather bland "general" curry sauce and then use it for ALL their curries, by simply throwing in whatever meat you choose eg lamb, chicken, fish etc. Of specific reference however was their deceitful dishonest behavior regarding a "fish" curry (takeaway) which i ordered on 26/12/2021. i had asked them what fish was used and they told me it was Kingklip, i then ordered the meal. Only to find that it was a bland "brown" looking curry which was tasteless and stale. And then to find it was not Kingklip they used but small tasteless chunks of Hake. This food was not fresh the Hake was chewy and the curry tasted horrible. When i phoned the Manager to ask why they charged me R200 for a Fish Curry and used HAKE, he insisted that it was Kingklip. Firstly they deceived me by serving Hake instead of Kingklip, but more importantly he persisted in lying about it, which begs the question... If the Manager of Thava can lie about what fish they using in their curry, then what else are they lying about to their Customers????? I gave a 1 star rating of this restaurant only because i didnt have the option of giving them a minus rating. Most horrible restaurant i visited.

If I could give no stars I would. 2 days ago my husband and I went to Thava at Monte Casino, he ordered a Lamb Kadhai Curry and I a Chicken and Prawn Curry - as this was recommended the best dish by our waiter. As an indian resturant I am highly disappointed by the quality of the food. It was TASTELESS!!!!. The Lamb curry was absolutely tastless and the chicken and prawn curry was so sour. It was horrible!!. My husband and I also selected hot as a spicy flavour , and it was not hot at all. The only thing I really enjoyed was the Bombay crush that we ordered. It is really sad to be such in a classy place and have so much of hype about your resturant when you clearly have difficulty in delivering the same. Our bill came to R600 , for good quality and good food, I don't mind paying , but for food that was unappealing , and tasteless it was a waste of money! I would of been happier with a pie. My husband and I would definitely not be going back there again !

I went to Thava for the first time last night and wow! One of the best indian dishes! Both my partner and I were in awe of how good the food was! Absolutely yummy! I felt like I had been in India - eating proper Indian Cuisine and to top it off, the guy running it, Bivin, was so welcoming and even made time to have a conversation with us, tell us about some of the food and at one point asked if we can taste the love in the food, WHICH WE DID! It was such a breath of fresh air to have such service! The staff were so friendly and acknowledging yet so respectful. This is probably going to be my new favourite place to eat at. Try them out!
