We contacted TK's company to assist with the kitchen refurbishment in September'21 and to have it done by end on November '21 and he never delivered (even after conforming that he can work with the timelines). So, this is is modus operandi, when we 1st engaged with him, he sends one of his people to gather requirements and measurements (probably because a lot of people whom he had defrauded are after him)...then, he will send the quotation, which required 70% upfront deposit, we then queried it, he explained that it's for the purchase of all the material and settled for 50% and agreed that once the first batch of material is delivered, we'll then pay the additional 20% for the outstanding material (at this stage, he had come to the house as we needed to see the face behind the company and who'll be executing). However, before the first material was even delivered, he asked for the remaining 20%, claiming that in order to meet the timelines, he needs to have purchased all the needed material and do the entire job at once. Fine, the money was paid, mind you it was the beginning of Nov and nothing had been delivered. We kept following up with him as we where then approaching end of Nov and each day he made a promise to have his team starting the following day. This was when we started getting worried, as by end of Nov not a single piece of material was delivered and 70% of the money paid. On 05 Dec'21 he delivered board sheets (uncut, in their original state), this was queried, he said the same sheets will be collected on Monday (07 Dec) and cutting is the same day job and cut pieces will be brought back the next day. The piece were then delivered on Friday, instead of Tuesday and it was just a fraction and didn't correspond to the sheets that were initially delivered. The back & forth games of the delivery of the pending material and work commencement went on for most of Dec'21. Around mid Dec he sent a guy called Prince to start work with the "little material" that was available and kept promising to deliver the rest. Two days before the 16th Dec'21, he called requesting for more money (bring the total to 90%)...he claimed his suppliers are to close for Dec holidays and there were couple of things he needed to still purchase (at that time, he had only delivered 20% of the needed material). We new his was a fraudster just after he missed the Nov timelines (saw reviews on social media), but them optimism had to prevail as we thought a lot of money had been paid and we might be the few ones to get our project done, so we paid that additional money. Price had done a fraction of the job, as there was no material and toward the Christmas weekend he delivered some few material once again, even though he had promised to have everything delivered. He promised to have Prince coming through the next day in the morning to recommence, we kept following up and we heard lies after lies that he (Prince) was on his way. It was around 14:00 in the afternoon that some 4 strange men came through (think he picked them on Facebook) and they were not even briefed on what they were going to do. And this was the last straw, we communicated the dissatisfaction of having different people coming by (SA has high crime rates) and the fact that even the work these 4 men did, was left incomplete as there was no material. TK was rude and condescending when responding and it was never his fault, it was either his suppliers or workers. By Jan '22, I had decided that I no longer want to work with him and will finish my project with someone else and we therefore requested refund. This is even when he became extra rude to the point that he was disputing the invoices that we paid for the work to complete (keep in mind, all of what was re-purchased is what we had paid him for) and we asked for reimbur*****t on those but he blatantly refused and even refused to give us his invoices for the material delivered, further went on to say, he doesn't owe us receipts as that's what he wasn't contracted for and he will only refund 30% of the 90% amount paid. Dude didn't deliver 50% of the material by wanted to keep 70% of monies paid to himself. the 30% didn't even cover the price of boards we bought from our own supplier. However, since we were singing to his tune, we agreed on that 30% (half a loaf is better than nothing)...this agreement was reached in Feb and to date no refund has been made. NB: he keeps changing his company name and he's not a carpenter, will pick random people from the streets to do the job (if anything gets done). Check any of his reviews on social media...I'm in the process of opening a fraud case against him as he continues to scam people without any ramifications. I might not get my money back but someone needs to stop him from continuing with his scams.

I met the owner of The Construction Guys GARY PETERS at Ebotse Golf Estate when I saw his marketing trailer outside the Estate premises. He managed to do a quote to renovate my home at a cost of R180 000 in Nov 2019 and insisted I pay him deposit of which I did of R95 000 and later requested an additional amount which I gave him R55 000, came and took off the entire tiles of my complex which was in a duration on November and redo the ceiling, Then after problems started escalating when I learnt that he was not paying he’s workers and they refused to come to work. January 24th 2020 the job is still outstanding I ended up having to buy my own material to be in a process of finishing the job because he’s excuse is that he’s waiting for money from he’s other clients. I learnt that this is how he scams people because I’m not the only victim and I know I’m not the last either, because he scams people while promising them to to renovate their homes, Imagine you took a loan to redo your house then you meet people like Gary Peters that will come and demolish your house and leave it like that and avoids your calls and the contractors calls. This guy deserved to be jailed because there are lots of victims that he has scammed with he’s smooth operation, Gary Peters +27 81 815 2765 of The Construction Guys is a SCAMMER !!!!!!!!! BE WARNED

Our renovation project was completed in May 2018 by The Construction Guys and we were covered for latent and patent defects in our contract. On the 3th of October I contacted the electrician that completed our installation to assist with a fan that was not working. I was informed on the 9th of October that they are refusing to attend to any defects as they have not received payment for work that was completed. We had made all outstanding payments in full in May. On the 28th of April 2019, Gary was contacted again to attend to defects. The work was partially completed until we heard nothing from Gary again. On the 13th of May 2019 our lawyer sent a letter to The Construction Guys. Subsequent to that we have been informed by our architects that there are similar accusations and cash flow issues on other projects and they will no longer engage with TCG. Our lawyer advised us that there are numerous claims against TCG and the likelihood of resolution is slim. Stay away!

TCG do not honour their contractual agreements, they bankroll other projects with your project funds and do not pay their suppliers. In the end their suppliers contact you directly for payment or refuse to attend to snags even though all accounts have been settled with TCG. Avoid at all cost.

My wife and I contacted Gary Peters (owner and operator of The Construction Guys - a renovation company based in Johannesburg) in September 2017 to get a quote to renovate the house we recently purchased. Our initial meeting was good and Gary came across as professional and trustworthy. He said that the project would take about 5 weeks, we accepted the quote, and work began in early October. Gary said that, if all went to plan, everything would be completed by the 17th of November 2017. By the end of February 2018, after many delays and problems, the renovation was still ongoing even after multiple promises that it would be done. Gary asked for multiple extensions to complete the work and missed every revised deadline we gave him.
