My family and I wanted to give this place a try since it's been highly spoken about only to be PURELY APPALLED by the service that we received. The seven of us were seated down and were going through the menu waiting for our orders to be taken. In this time, (of about 10 minutes) many other customers came in and were served almost instantly and we were still waiting. My mother in law then spoke to one of the waitresses passing us and asked her to please send some one to take our orders. Another 5 minutes passed and still no one came to assist us. At this point we had enough and decided to walk out, only for this very same waitress to be standing at the coffee station and is complaining to her colleague about "the indians". I very clearly heard this. The last time I checked, we are in a RAINBOW NATION. Clearly she fails to realize this. Who even speaks in that manner and tone???? Because of one person's ill manners and PATHETIC CUSTOMER SERVICE, you lost out on a huge bill.

On 16 June we decided to visit this establishment as a number of friends raved about their experience however we were very disappointed. Upon entry the hostess was very polite and bubbly. We were taken into the garden which has the most beautiful view. We placed our drinks order which took abt 30 minutes to get to us and was cold. The food order took an additional 50 minutes to get to us and it was cold. We ordered starters which never got to us. When we asked for the bill we did bring it to the waitress' attention that the starters were forgotten but she shouldn't worry about it and just bring the bill. When she brought the bill she said that she forgot about it and it was made and can we please take it. We were flabbergasted as it was beyond cold and rubbery and we were basically forced to pay for it. She brought a take away container which we left behind. Why should we be made to pay for something we no longer want cos of the incompetence of the waitress. This was an extremely disappointing display of customer service.

Pot and Kettle [P&K], is a "Rustic Country Restaurant", nestled on the old main road, between Durban and Pietermaritzburg, roughly halfway and a few km past Bothas Hill, near Drummond. Heidi Devitt owns and runs this family-oriented eatery, offering "home-style' cuisine to her customers -who enjoy the excellent views of the Valley of 1000 Hills, looking out, over the KwaNyuswa valley, towards the "Inanda Dam", where the Umgeni river water is stored, for use by the City of Durban, in KZN province. A well-shaded viewing deck and open patio-verandah provide guests with an excellent view-point while enjoying a leisurely lunch or morning/afternoon refreshment. A speciality is their Sunday roast, with live music and access to the kiddies playground, for families with younger children. Catering for family events and special occasions is what Heidi and her team do so well. Give Pot and Kettle a try - you won't be disappointed. I took two visitors and my wife for a Sunday Lunch. The music was very loud and there was a female singer. It was not possible to have a normal conversation. The waitress got the order wrong and then argued that the mistake was ours. One of the dishes was inedible. They have good premises with good views over the Valley of a Thousand Hills. I fail to understand their target market. Suffice to say we will not return.
