One of the guards asked us to pay him a tip for a parking that was open like several others saying he reserved it when it wasn't. We saw this as inappropriate and ignored him. In the morning our spare wheel was gone and one of the wind guards around the window. The car was visible to the guards at the gate as the car was on the first parking under the green carports on the right as you enter the casino. We realised we were being asked for protection fee disguised as a tip by the security guard. He went as far as to tell hubby to leave the money in the bin close by. When he realised he didn't, he lifted both hands in a questioning manner. Now when we inform the casino about the ****** spare wheel, they inform us there is no coverage of security cameras where the cars are parked and that the camera only shows the car arriving and leaving. We are booked here for two days and our fairly new Bakkie is parked out there. It is not guarded since we won't pay protection fee and there is no coverage by cameras in the parking area. But the booking site for Tsogo sun members was very quick to inform us we will forfeit the money if we cancel. It was suggested that we should contact our insurance and that maybe the wheel was lost outside which too raised flags. Our cars can be vandalised because they have insurance? The spare wheel had an extra chain and lock around it and we know it was there when came to the casino. I'm worried as I reserved a booking at Hotel Perte for December and realising the level of security here on one of Tsogo sun's branches is non existent. Tsogo sun and The Ridge Casino, hotel and Entertainment, Witbank I need answers and a full investigation.
