Absolutely Disgusted.
I have never been more appalled by the ethics - or complete lack thereof - of a veterinarian in my life. One of our dogs suddenly began foaming at the mouth. We had already lost another dog to the same terrifying symptoms a few months earlier, so panic doesn’t even begin to describe the state we were in. Our own vet wasn’t answering. Desperate, we managed to get the number for Three Rivers Veterinary Clinic and called Dr Johan Swanepoel as a last hope. My mother, hysterical, sobbing, and shaking with fear, begged him for help. He flatly refused. He said he would not help anyone after hours unless they were an existing client. When we explained that he had treated our dog before, he shouted back at her: “Yes, but only as an outpatient!” My mother then asked - through tears - “So what must I do? Am I going to lose my dog?” His response? “Not my problem.” Those were his words. Delivered while angrily shouting at a terrified woman who believed her dog was dying in front of her. I am still in disbelief. This wasn’t a misunderstanding. This wasn’t a policy explained calmly. This was cruelty. A complete absence of empathy. A total disregard for animal life and basic human decency. If you are ever considering going to this vet, don’t. Do yourself - and your animals - a favour and stay far away. When it mattered most, when fear and urgency were real, he showed exactly who he is.

Dog owners are allowed to ask questions which is important to make informed decisions regarding their fur children.
I was treated with such disrespect and arrogance when I asked questions about my dog's treatment as one vet in the morning advised clips and only to be told by another vet this evening that sutures were used. Are dog owners not allowed to ask questions about their fur children? I wouldn't like to support this clinic EVER again.

I was treated with such disrespect and arrogance when I asked questions about my dog's treatment as one vet in the morning advised clips and only to be told by another vet this evening that sutures were used. Worst experience ever
People I am telling the truth ! If you love your fur babies listen up !! The first time we stepped into this place - My 100 pound lap baby he was as strong as he was sweet !! These " Drs" did not let Rebel die They MADE Rebel die !! My boy died in agony ! I wish we had never heard of this place !! we bring our fur babies to these "Drs" because we want them to live !! We got a Great report ! Not 3 weeks later he died in agony ! They did not follow protocol - Michel's Flat out Refuse Rebel emergency care Even though the toxicity affects - from the triple whammy effect combination they sent us home with !! These were boxed warnings - literally a schedule 4 POISON ! EVERYBODY NO MATTER WHERE YOU TAKE UR BABY CHECK ALL " MEDS " YOU ARE SENT HOME WITH FIR YOURSELF !! Check THE RISKS , DEATH RATES , DRUG INTERACTIONS OR ADVERSE SIDE EFFECTS FOR YOURSELF , because accepting her saying she was giving something to help him costed me dearly !! Imagine on top of your devastating loss imagine finding out you were feeding your companion poison !! Hard to live with! Always check the stuff you sent home with fir yourself so you dont lose them like this ,!! Worst experience EVER

This is the worst place are these people are not doctors they are just straight evil heartless cruel they're not *********** they knowingly willingly sent us home with us with black box morning meant drugs after my companion got a great report he is strong he loved me we had plans they did not let rebel die they made him die she sent us home with what is referred to as the triple whammy effect without one word of the risks they're dangerous but in her notes she sure put that I was so attached to my companion she sure put that I couldn't afford somebody else was helping me with my with the vet bill because I couldn't afford to do so myself she sure put that in there what a cruel heartless place they they he said he was aware of what she put him on after Rebel got sick right so toxicity now is getting to he's fine one day a hundred pound lab baby he's fine and then all the sudden he's not fine he's sick you know so when we show up without an appointment now we met Michaels all right this sob said that he was aware of what Robert said put him on so then why didn't he start to talk says the the procedure protocol why didn't he follow protocol for the toxicity instead he gives us a shot for nausea and sends us home with even another dangerous drug that you're supposed to wear gloves with okay and it says they told us to crush it up no matter how we got it into him that my boy had to have it okay so they said to crush it up but no you're not supposed to crush it up because it goes airborne now why in the hell would have INever feed this to my boy !! Today is 613 days that I have been stuck every day I relive this hell and it just plays from where when he's fine and then he looks up at me and I can see in his eyes that he doesn't feel good they had two chances to save him and they did not after he gives us a shot for nausea and sends us home when I have to call that after hours number whenever he collapsed my companion collapsed and Michael's finally return my call he refused Rebel emergency care he said that we had to wait until 8:00 a.m. I told him I don't think it Rebel has until 8:00 a.m. he said that if I wanted him to be seen at their clinic that we would wait until 8:00 a.m. that I had been given instructions for the evening shortly before 8:00 a.m. my real life hero died in agony their words they use words like I elected for them to give them that shot no he was drowning while he was having a heart attack from the toxins that they gave me sent me home with to feed to my boy how cruel is that how could anybody be so cruel and I see with all you other people that have had that are not happy customers that have been through the same thing that I'm going through the same things that I'm going through please please reach out to me please cuz this is more than I can bear they have run the rest of my life they did not just ***** yours from us they stole everything we had plans we take our fur babies to these places because we want them to live we need them to live and is so cruel for people like this to pick and choose who's companions are going to live and who's companions are going to die !! I had the worst experience with the vet last night around 8.30pm from Three Rivers Veterinary Clinic. My little Daxie was frothing at the mouth and his heart was racing - assuming he had eaten a frog (as we live at the river), I called our vet's emergency number and she never answered right away. In desperation and fear, I called Three Rivers Vet and spoke to Mr Johan Swanepoel. I told him I couldn't reach our vet and asked whether he could please help our Jasper. Before I could explain what was wrong with him, he started shouting at me and said he is "sick and tired of handling after hours emergencies for other vets as they are too lazy to come out after hours". I asked him what I should do, as the welfare of my pet was my first priority and did not care much for the politics. He refused to assist me. Luckily my vet returned my call within minutes and got my Jazzie on a drip, ran blood tests and gave him an injection and tablets to neutralise the toxins she found in his blood. I quiver to think what would have happened to Jazzie, had my vet not responded when she did. I'm horrified with Mr. Swanepoel - he should have a hard look at his bedside manner and his dedication to his chosen vocation!

One of our sausages started foaming at the mouth (and we lost one to this same thing a few months ago), so we call our vet, they weren’t answering so we managed to get the number for Three Rivers Veterinary Clinic for DR. JOHAN SWANEPOEL. My mom, panicked and crying asked for his help and he completely refused. He said that he won’t help anyone after-hours that isn’t an existing client. He has treated our dog before and when we mentioned that he screamed back at her “yes, but as an outpatient!” “So what must I do? Am I going to lose my dog?” my mom asked, literally sobbing and shaking from fear. “Not my problem!!” Was his reply. He was SHOUTING at her angrily. I cannot believe how this was handled. You definitely do not give one damn about animals’ lives. If you’re ever thinking of going to this vet - do yourself a favour and don’t. They clearly do not value all animal life.

I wonder if this facility is JUST about MONEY or caring for your pets? So far 4 dogs was put down, and it always seems to be cancer. We took our Yorkie in because she was lethargic and was told she needs to go on a drip, that was on a Thursday morning, and the she'll have to stay there until Monday at a cost of 5K+. Friday morning her whole body was swollen, even her ears and she had to put down. Two weeks later we received an sms to pay R5266-25 and a few days after that received an email of condolences. Today low and behold we receive an sms to pay the R5266-25 at 08h09 and another sms at 08h25. Our first and last standing 18 year old dog is still around, but we are petrified should we have to take her to the Vet, because we know exactly what's going to happen as per the previous 4 dogs. Oh and she still chases the feral cats out the yard.
