Tiphaine A sums up this Cape Town micro-business well. Seems like Ken (the dad) retired and it's now run (down) by the son, Allan, who is the "CEO", "office manager" and also installer of the trampolines. What started out well enough turned into an increasing exercise in frustration, due to his poor planning and time management (estimating an installation date more granular than " I'll pass by this week" was near impossible - amazing that professional businesses manage just fine to within an hour), arrogant tone and passive aggressive messaging when you eventually get a reply (read: "just be grateful we're taking your money" attitude) and general lack of business acumen (this is evidently a side hustle) - he pretended not to be the owner of the business on site (well, I suppose it's probably still his dad, but remember, he's the "CEO") and suggested I complain about his poor behaviour on site via their finance email address, which is evidently serviced by him! Talk about an echo chamber for poor service. One generation builds, the next destroys. Needless to say... AVOID!

Tiphaine A sums this small Cape Town business well - I'd say mom and pop shop, but it lacks any of the expected charm. Seems like Ken (the dad) retired and it's now run by the son, Allan, who is the "CEO" and also installer of the trampolines. What started out well turned into an increasing exercise in frustration, due to his poor time management, passive aggressive messaging and general lack of business acumen - he pretended not to be the "CEO"/owner of the business on site (well, I suppose it's probably still his dad) and suggested I complain via their finance email address, which is evidently serviced by his fiance! Talk about an echo chamber for poor service. Summary: ordered a mat replacement in mid-Aug and paid a deposit. They went quiet for 2-3 weeks, so I chased up politely via Whatsapp and got told "I'll pass by this week". I asked for an estimated day and time (most people don't all sit around the whole week at home), which was evidently triggering - he patronisingly explained that it was simply impossible to even give a general idea of when they will arrive and most clients are so happy when he calls an hour ahead (read: just be grateful they're coming; perhaps they are, by this stage?). I eventually got him to estimate 12-2pm today. Allan the one-man-band came by a few hours ago, trying to wear multiple hats of installer, business owner and "the office" ; he let himself onto my property unannounced (went around the back of the house even) and called me to say that the site wasn't ready for him (we had painted the metal frame, which was almost dry, and would have been so if he'd come at noon). Let's say, Allan should never be allowed near a customer - he looked irritated and was passive aggressive from the get go, **** about "the office" communicating with me poorly via Whatsapp (it was him - I have the voice messages), and then openly patronising and dismissive of any expectation that I shouldn't just be grateful for his presence on site (people normally wait 4 weeks for installation, he reminded me). He installed the trampoline in 10min (managed to overcome the paint debacle it seems), and then just left (no goodbye or asking for me to check the job); 100% passive aggressive behaviour and why this business probably won't be here in a few years (months?). One generation builds, the next destroys. Needless to say... AVOID!

I recently made the mistake of hiring Trampolines Nationwide to install a trampoline for my children. Every aspect of my dealings with this company – and the odious manager, Ken, in particular – has been extremely unpleasant. When the poor workmanship and basic incompetence of the installation (resulting in substantial yet easily avoidable damage to my property) was queried, Ken’s response was to deflect blame through aggressive and threatening behaviour. This was completely unwarranted and frankly unethical, and it’s ironic that a company selling a product for children to play on is so lacking in values and respect for its customers and their property. I have never encountered behaviour or service as poor as this, and the costs to rectify their shoddy workmanship and negligence have been substantial. Do yourself a favour and avoid Trampolines Nationwide at all costs!
