Breakfast at Tribeca in Lynwood Bridge.
As usual the food is good. As usual the service is questionable, not bad, but nothing to brag about. Then a service fee of 10% is added to the bill. This is not standard in South Africa.
Whilst paying I tell the waiter that I do not like this and that I would most probably have rounded the total resulting in more than 10% so the addition cost him a few rand. He asked me to inform the manager as this is a general complaint he receives.
I told the manager about my concern but she was not interested. Just kept on repeating a well rehe****d story about the money being added to the personnels' pay slips so that they can claim more unemployment if there is another lockdown (which also results in them paying tax on their tips). She would also not answer my question if VAT was now also added to the service fee. All this while her face mask was slipping to her chin all the time as she was speaking and she was touching my arm all the time to emphasise her story.
Not impressed.
Luckily there are many other good restaurants just a few steps away.
