I did not have a positive experience adopting through this organization. While we followed every step of their adoption process, even parts we didn’t fully agree with, communication throughout was inconsistent and unclear. It took more than three weeks just to complete the home check, and details about the full process were never clearly explained. Eventually, we were approved and adopted a puppy, who quickly became part of our family — deeply loved and well cared for. Sadly, almost three weeks later, our puppy had a minor accident at home was limping slightly. We monitored him closely, and the very next day took him to our vet. He was eating, drinking, playful, and the vet confirmed there were no serious injuries. Despite this, representatives from the shelter arrived at my workplace without notice after receiving a complaint (before he had seen the vet) and insisted on taking him for a second veterinary check. Even after that second vet confirmed the puppy was physically fine, they still removed him from our care permanently. The decision felt reactive and unfair. No evidence of neglect or breach of contract was ever presented. Instead of supporting a family trying to give a rescue pup a good home, they made a judgment that felt deeply one-sided and lacked compassion. I understand shelters deal with many sad cases, but they should not allow those experiences to cloud fair judgement in homes where pets are genuinely loved and cared for. This was our first experience adopting, and it left our family heartbroken. I sincerely hope the organization reflects on the impact of their decisions — not just on people, but on the animals they are entrusted to protect.

Goodbye Peter response I write this response, as a volunteer at UDSA, with first hand experience of both management, adopting public, and rescue situations. UDSA is a non-profit organization that relies solely on donations and volunteers that offer devoting personal resources (i.e. time, money, etc.) to a very misunderstood breed. Pitbulls are a power breed! Bought and adopted for their loving, caring, protective nature, deterring guard dogs, or as status symbols. Rescue experience has shown that people seldom comprehend the magnitude of responsibility owning a pitbull, i.e., safe environment, exercise, stimulation, etc. As a rescue organization, it is paramount that the public realize that dogs are rescued from humans. Never do we rescue healthy, well nutured, and cared for pitbulls from the loving public in posh mansions. Quit the opposite, mostly from hostile people justifying their cruelty and neglect. In such situations, kindness, compassion, and understanding are not attributes that rescue pitbulls. As a volunteer, please accept my sincere apologies for late replies, untimely reponses, and perhaps emotional (assertive) communication and interaction. Please visit our updated website for more information. https://www.underdogs.co.za/

Estelle the owner is very rude and doesn’t know how to talk to her clients… here is her message to me just to give you a taste. Please grow up little girl, you are so ********e and annoying and definetly not a mature enough to communicate with anybody, sadlyflicking your fingers and demanding will bring you now where, sadly feeling offensive and acting so childish shows so much of your true character…… And this purely because I said that I was Unsatisfied with their services as I’ve been waiting three weeks to get someone out to come and have a look at my property or even just getting an email back I would definitely not recommend working with Estelle

This institution has a nice Luke but do not back up what they say they do I found a bewildered and Confused Pitbull in the northern area of Pretoria that was almost killed by a fast-moving traffic I then contacted these people to find out if they can rescue and reunite the Pitbull with their owner or even try to do so I was sent a mail that they do not do these services although I have other dogs I took the risk of taking the dog to my place and tried to locate its owners or an Institute that says there will be the voice for pitbulls it is very disappointing

Absolutely horrible experience. The staff are so rude they can't even greet a person. They think we owe them the world. They are very judgemental and have no respect for clients, they can't even speak in a nice good manner. Absolutely disgusted with the attitude with the people working there, I wouldn't adopt there. They have no respect and talk to you like your **** and not a client. I would rather support Wollies Animal Shelter anytime over this place. I've lost all respect for them and wouldn't recommend them to anyone.
