Giving 1 star because there is nothing less - If I could it would be minus 10. Do Not use this company - Alistair Armstrong and his sons Luke and Liam. I bought a Full solar system (paid for it in full) I paid for delivery too and I never got it delivered. Alistair kept making excuses as to why they couldnt deliver it so I told him Id come fetch it, which he also made excuses about. Eventually I went there and fetched it myself (which was in a back room of someone elses house) and he was very upset that I did that while he was out and he was upset that his son helped me to get it in my car and out at my house as he offered to come and help me get it out. I also paid over R5000 for solar mounts which I never got. After waiting months for an installation as he was too busy he said he would help me by using a new team of guys who were busy learning and he would do it at a reduced cost. I was a bit weary but he ensured me he would be there and make sure everything was done 100%. His team of 6 guys pitched up at my house and started installing. On the same day they stood on my grandsons bed and broke it as they went right through the slats and also broke the whole side of it. Alistair never came to check on them, When I told them they broke my bed. He got all uptight with me and told me they were just learning and he is pulling them from site. I told him if they needed a ladder I would have gladly given them one if they only asked. He never came back to finish my installation and I never saw my solar mounts. I had to find somone else to finish off my installation, I was then told there were parts missing from my inverter, as well as my Battery, so I phoned Sunsynk to check the history of the inverter, to be told that it was actually second hand and was previously installed elsewhere, and I had to get it unbind as well. I also had to try find the parts that were missing from my system. I told Alistair about this and he blocked me immediatley. I havent been able to get hold of them to get my warrantys or the missing parts. I saw one of his sons at the gym and when I went to speak to him again. He walked off and ignored me, Please stay away from this company. They willl take what they can get from you and run away!! They are very unprofessional and *********

If I could go back in time, I would NOT have used Alastair, Liam, and Luke Armstrong and the AM Solar team. Sadly, they have already done 7 (yes seven) installations for me, my businesses and friends (on my initial recommendation). How I wish I could retract that advice. They started out positive, excited, keen, eager and seemingly knowledgeable. But then, the snags piled up, the calls stopped being returned and now here we are, over 2 years later and STILL they decline my calls while steadfastly NOT fixing snags. A disgrace to the profession and common civility. They only get 1 star because there's nothing lower.

Do not use this company. We installed a R300K system and have been experiencing constant problems - they do not take your phone calls and when complaining about bad service levels, they just say that they are busy. We paid R64K for an extension on the system and due to bad service and that they cannot install the system as per our agreed deadline, we cancelled the order and asked for a refund. They only refunded us R40K. We will be taking this matter further legally.

In early August ‘22, I got Alastair Armstrong from AM Solar to install an inverter and battery system at my house. After the installation was done, I subsequently decided to add panels as to be less reliable on the grid. There was a lack in communication from the contractor whereas I had to follow up when installation will be done on regular basis. When they did get back to me, there were always some form of excuse as to why they couldn't get back to me. When the installation was finally done after numerous calls, WhatsApp messages and emails, the appointed electrician had to provide for CoC and connect AC's to the system. Yet again they failed to respond with this in-scope request after numerous to and fro comm's. At the time my last correspondence to them was that I was disappointed at their lack of communication and commitment, but did praise the quality of the installation (this I retract today as per below) Subsequent to that, I had a third party provide report on the installation and they found numerous compliance issues as well as panels being installed on the wrong side of the roof. Not only was their installation sub-standard, but they also did not fulfill the scope requirements. The installation cost me the better part of R175K and one would expect that even if you represent one of the “smaller” projects to the company, you will also be treated as an important part of your customer base – I now need to spend an additional R30K to get the installation to standard and move the panels to where they should have been from the start (AM Solar provided drawing for the correct location, but installed them on another part of the roof which provides for less efficient use) In a nutshell, terrible customer experience as they couldn't fulfill customer requirements, I would not recommend them for any project be it small or large.

Great initial installation, but absolutely terrible after sales service. Has completely ignored all calls requesting help on the system. Unless its about them making alot of money on the deal, they will completely ignore any call for after sales service.

AM Solar designed and installed a hybrid system for me which has saved 80% of my electricity bill and we are largely unaffected by load shedding. I found the company to be technically very capable, professional in their approach, reliable and honest.

Beware of this company! Alastair will take your deposit and has zero plans to deliver any product. He has taken a deposit of hundreds of thousands from us for a whole house solar system in March 2020 and we are still to see one nail installed or a refund. Proceedings in court and police, but sadly we are one of many. Caveat Emptor.

Alastair Armstrong from Amsolar took our deposit of R150k for the installation of solar in our house and never installed anything. They don’t respond. Basic bunch of thieves. We lost our money and have no solar energy. Do not ever use them. We have not been able to recover our money or get them to do the job.
