I must now warn potential future clients to be careful in choosing Hollard for insurance and Bay Union Financial as a broker. I had a storm damage in May 2025 and Hollard decided to send an Assessor who came in to do a Civil Engineering report but he himself confirmed that he is not accredited in Civil Engineering. This Assessor was a very biased person and I think ************** against certain type of clients which Hollard seems to accept. Hollard still has not given no proper explanation of how a person with no Civil Engineering certificate can do this report. To me it seems like Hollard does not do proper vetting of the suppliers or it's just that they don't care and discriminate certain color. I give a report from a proper 100% BEE company and it seems like they don't support that either. Also I must point out the quote was lower. That should be questioned and investigated why the bais Assessor friend company was preferred when his quote was about 30% more. The Suburbs Investment report was also with some many contradictions where one of the examples the"Electrican" making assumptions without even digging up and looking under Paving saying a drainage pipe is leaking when there is no proof. Then when I asked Bay Union for the Assessor report I am told that it's the property of Hollard which in itself is a joke. If there is nothing to hide show me. Then the Assessor sends his friend to to do a report. (Surburbs Investments) The person that came to do this report when I asked if he is a Civil Engineer I am told he is an electrician. I searched this company and found they operate from a small little factory block with small businesses. I asked for Accreditation from this company. I asked Bay Union to check for a company registration number and Building organization accreditation. This has been going with these requests for close to 10 weeks now.

i stay in a estate which is called Intaba eco estate ,in PMB. Bay Union have a R304 million rand group insurance , with the estate. I have been in the estate for 2 years ,and we did a claim in June 25 for a heavy storm that came in. Bay union has been asking us , for some Doc. like prof ,that the building is passed, and all the paper work. This is a estate firstly we will never be able to move in if our home if the paperwork is not up to date. Our home is 2 years old . They have rejected our claim for R72 000 for damage to house from the storm and rain . They have come up with that bull**** story ,that we must claim from our Building contractor . Everything was approved by the estate and our civil engineers. So the thing is that if something happens that's out of our hands. We must claim from our building contractor. I will made sure that Bay union will lose , the group insurance from Intaba eco state. If they don't care about people in the estate, what will happen to a man that has a stand alone house . First of all a big Thank You to Mechelle Pillay for helping me with an inquiry where I didn't even know that I was covered for a boating incident that happen a few weeks ago. I lost my Vision glasses and water damaged my camera. Mechelle sent an email to Avisha Dayaram who her self was very helpful and in that same day contacted me via email and on top of that sent me a claim form and also informed me I was covered for these 2 items.i Then I think Avisha was off work for a few days and even then she did not forget about my claim because I was contacted by Roxann Roy who again was a very helpful Lady who sorted and settled my claim in a couple of days and the amount was paid into my banking account hassle free.. I have been with this company about over 30 years and will highly recommend Bay Union Insurance Brokers. I have not had any hassles on any occasion where a claim was not settled as long as an explanation is given on how the loss occurred. So THANK YOU all 3 Ladies mentioned in this review. 1000% rating to all 3 of you.

In August 2023, I was a victim of the taxi violence and protests in Cape Town. My vehicle was damaged and several parts/accessories including my valuables were ******. I submitted a claim to my broker and about a week later he advised that the claim was submitted to the insurance company. In September, an assessor, Robin Kock visited my residence to inspect the vehicle and conduct an assessment. The assessment was quick and haphazard and most of his comments/statements were prejudice. He couldn't spot the damages on the tyres/rims and decided to exclude them from the claim. Naturally, I wasn't pleased with this so I suggested that we meet at an accredited tyre outlet to have the tyres inspected by an expert. He agreed however, when I followed up with him several times to make an appointment, he kept avoiding me. Later that month, my broker informed me that an investigator, John Mostert was appointed to investigate my claim. When I met John for the first time, I advised him that in my opinion this claim should be submitted to SASRIA rather than the insurer however, he swiftly waived it off and said that the insurer will cover the damage/loss once the investigation has been concluded. The investigation dragged on for months - countless emails, calls and visits with the investigator including high levels of prejudice. Finally, in November, they decided to offer me a settlement however, the settlement amount was approximately R150 000 short of the total cost of damages/losses. Furthermore, some of the parts on the assessment document were for a low-end spec whereas my vehicle is a high-end spec, as such there was a major discrepancy in the settlement amount. When I queried this with my broker, I was told that the claim was settled accordingly. I responded with several emails thereafter expressing my concerns and stating the facts and to date, I have received no response whatsoever from my broker. I was left with no option but to follow the complaints procedure so in January 2024, I submitted a complaint to the insurance company. A few days later they requested additional information which I supp**** immediately. They advised that the matter was being investigated and an outcome will be provided soon. A month later, I received a response from the Complaints Department stating that they have decided to withdraw the Agreement Of Loss and that my claim needs to be redirected to SASRIA. I then sent another email to my broker, claims handler and claims team leader expressing my frustrations mainly due to the fact that I initially recommended that this claim needed to be submitted to SASRIA but nobody listened to me. In addition, I requested for them to submit the claim to SASRIA on my behalf as SASRIA would not entertain a claim submitted by the claimant. The latest response I received was that management is still looking into it. Seven months have passed and Tom, **** and Harry are still "looking into it' I am currently driving a vehicle that is unroadworthy due to the damages/losses sustained from the incident and I required the claim to be settled in full to enable me to restore my vehicle to a roadworthy state (which it was prior to the incident occurring). Furthermore, with each passing day I am not only putting myself in financial risk but also putting my life together with the lives of my loved ones in danger. To say I am upset and disappointed would be an understatement. I simply cannot find the words to describe my emotions and the level of service or the lack thereof I have received. The worst part is that I was retrenched twice in the space of 9 months during the COVID pandemic and I ensured that my premiums were paid promptly and wholly. Furthermore, the insurer were swift to increase my premium after providing the Agreement Of Loss despite this claim not being settled/honored by them.

What a bubbly personality and always willing to help attitude from her. She handled my claim and constantly kept me informed with the progress and payment. Outstanding I must say. What a bubbly personality and always willing to help attitude from her. She handled my claim and constantly kept me informed with the progress and payment. Outstanding I must say. I initiated a claim with the above company in Feb, to date there have been numerous dealing with this company, and the claims are yet to be settled, the attitudes of the people handling this matter, and disgusting, and it almost seems their attitude is intentional and purposeful in delaying this matter, and they way they deal with me. Their incompetence is on another level, and again leaves me feeling it is intentional, management has never stepped in, six months later. i have escalated this matter to the Ombudsman, and would advise people against using a a service provider with such low business ethics.

Accused me of lying I was married etc. and threatened legal action against me for claiming I'm married. Threatened me with a slamder suit and told his colleagues not to tell me anything about policies etc. I sent marriage certificate and death certificate that clearly state late spouse and I were married. No apology from Bay Union.
