I paid the law firm on the 27th August 2025 for them to assist me with the disconnection of electricity in our complex. I emailed the documents to the lawyer, when I arrived at their offices in Bedfordview, the lawyer looked at the document and told me they are representing the Managing Agent, they won't be able to assist. They will refund me my R5000. I sent emails after emails requesting my refund, I was told my refund will be transferred shortly. Even now, I'm still waiting for my refund. On the 27th of September, it will be one month 😡I wouldn't recommend them to anyone. Its so disappointing to see law firms acting this way, I was expecting a professional organisation where clients are valued but I got a lot of frustrations from them. I'm unable to buy my uncle his medication because I don't have money. The director from BBM Law doesn't think I need my money. I hope other people won't make the same mistake of using lawyers without doing due diligence. Never again

I received an email from BBM Law on 03 October 2023 that the transfer of my property was registered on 03 October 2023. Instead of been paid the same or next day, I had to wait for 10 days before the money will reflect into my account. This is totally unacceptable, and even though the interest that I lost is small, it is a matter of principle. Imagine they do the same thing with each and every client of theirs.

Worts company to handle your transfer of a property, Transfer took place a week ago. Proceeds that are suppose to be paid to me after transfer hasn’t been paid to date. I’ve sent an email and phoned no one is responding regarding this matter. I guess they not paying, they are now playing hide and seek. Worst service I’ve ever received. I’ve asked for a statement of account in the invested account and they not saying anything.

BBM LAW,FNB and Nedbank. BBM Law paid a refund into my account on the 31st of October, unfortunately the account was inactive , however the following morning the account was active. When i tried to follow up Fnb adviced that the funds should bounce back to Nedbank it should take 48hours. on the 4th of November logged a request to recall the funds. I have been communicating with all three parties and they all say the funds are neither with them. meaning BBM Law never received the funds back. Nedbank has adviced that they have checked with the Eft department and they said the funds went out and never returned to their clients account. Fnb also said the funds never reached their side. Currently the funds are missing and none of them are willing to give advice of the following steps to take. . What a disappointment.

I own property within sectional title. Owners in our scheme have total disregard for sectional title law. I took our trustees to CSOS (Ombud - see HelloPeter CSOS), was not allowed to present a case resulting in an atrocious order. Asked BBM law to appeal the case with the High Courts within the 30 day time-frame given after having paid them a retainer. BBM Law took it upon themselves to not appeal the order and when questioned, are blatantly dishonest. To proceed, now more than 5 months later, will be at a higher cost and more wasted time - I no longer trust them. I have requested a tax invoice to question what they have actually done and for the money to be returned - that is not forthcoming. For R50,000-00, BBM Law have written our managing agent a 4-page letter (simply summarizing the CSOS order) and forced us to sell our sectional title unit out of sheer desperation. The corruption around sectional title is absolutely shocking, throughout the entire industry and all involved. I would never consider buying into sectional title again and would advise anyone against this form of investment. The appointed advocate stated - 'When you purchase a Sectional Title property, you give up all property rights' !!!!!!!!!! The legal fraternity are allowing this statement to be true, for obvious reasons.

Took this company a year to facilitate a trust account transfer to me from my moms estate. They went months without responding and then when they did it was with promises that were never met. Would never recommend them to anyone.

I Would highly recommend that no one uses BBM attorneys unless they don’t mind wasting their hard earned money and their time, trying to get a response from the Directors (one in particular) of the firm. The level of service that BBM offered me for the amount of money charged was atrocious. And on top of this, and despite the fact that they were well aware of my objections raised in respect of the last two fees charged, I received a Letter of Demand, for the small amount of outstanding fees charged by them. Incorrect dates and demands were sent to the other side’s attorneys and, the incorrect parenting plan was presented at a round table meeting with the opposing attorneys. Did I complain NO, did I pay my bill YES. I was charged by a senior attorney, as well as by a junior attorney, which, in my opinion was unreasonable and unfair as I only requested an attorney not two. The cherry on top was when I made them aware 2 weeks prior to my court date that my case would more than likely be postponed as the opposing attorney had passed away and the other party required a postponement in order to appoint a new attorney. In addition to the aforesaid, I advised BBM that the Parties would most likely settle the matter prior to the court date. BBM decided to go ahead and do the work. R3420 for research regarding the rights of unmarried fathers. My case was straight forward but they needed to charge for research. Research that, in my opinion, was not necessary due to that fact that the matter was likely to be settled before the court date. I am also of the view point that attorneys should not need to charge for research of a topic that should be known by professionals in the legal fraternity. In my view, if the attorneys are unsure of a certain legal point, they should research it free of charge and for their own knowledge and growth as an attorney. In addition to the above charge, I was charged an additional fee of R3420 for attending to prepare argument for the matter. The parties settled prior to the court date (as I thought we would and as my attorneys were informed – timeously). So, the attorneys did not need to go to court as the parties (on their own) requested the court to make the signed parenting plan an order of court. A total of R6840 was charged for the research and preparation. This, in addition to all of the fees charged prior, which fee were paid by me, without any complaints. At the very least, I would have expected the firm to give me some sort of discount (bearing in mind the circumstances). During a meeting with one of the directors of the firm, the Director stated that he was of the view that I had received a good service for the money that I had paid. I, on the other hand, voiced my opinion that the last bill of R6840 was unfair due to the fact that I had timeously informed the attorneys of the possible postponement and of the very strong possibility that the matter will be settled prior to the next court date. I further informed the Director that I feel that the attorneys were unreasonable in charging for work done 2 days before my court date and still find it viable to invoice me this (even though the attorneys were well aware that the matter would either be postponed and/or settled). The said Director said that he would look at the fees charged and that he would get back to me. Four emails later and still no response from the Director. I also requested that the Director please send me the Bill of Cost so that I may approach the law society in order to request them to investigate the matter. Still, the Director continues to ignore my emails. I truly hope that other BBM Clients have had a better experience. Unfortunately, mine was not a good experience.
