Serious neglect of patient at Bheki Mlangeni District Hospital Our family is deeply concerned about the treatment of a relative currently admitted at Bheki Mlangeni District Hospital. The patient arrived at the hospital on Monday, 30 March 2026 between 10 :30 and 11 :00, after collapsing at home. Upon arrival, we were informed that she had suffered a stroke. During the fall, she also dislocated her left shoulder. Despite the seriousness of her condition, it took two full days for her to be admitted to a ward. During this time, we repeatedly requested assistance and updates, as the patient was clearly unwell. Due to mounting frustration and lack of response, we recorded a video to document the situation. Instead of addressing our concerns, security was called on us, and we were removed from the area. Only later that same night were we contacted and informed that she had finally been admitted and given a ward number. Since admission, the standard of care has been extremely concerning. The patient’s dislocated shoulder has still not been properly assessed or treated by a doctor, and there appears to be little to no medical monitoring, despite her being a stroke patient. When we visited on 1 April 2026, we found her left unattended, lying in her own waste, with no staff assisting her. This is deeply distressing and undignified. Her only child, a young adult son, has been placed in the heartbreaking position of having to clean and care for his mother himself, as the family cannot be present daily due to work commitments. We believe this situation reflects serious neglect, a lack of dignity, and a failure to provide basic medical and nursing care. We are asking for accountability, urgent intervention, and assurance that patients at this facility are treated with the care, respect, and dignity they deserve.

The service stinks. What kind of gynecologists do not know that a complete thyroid panel should consist of a TSH, T4 and T3. On top of everything, they did not order FSH, LH, Progesterone and Estrodiol tests when I had an abnormal uterine bleeding, like what the f**k? It's not rocket science you know? You gonna pay dearly for what you did to me!!!!!!!

This hospital kills people first it was my cousin who died in that hospital in 2021,fast forward to 2026. My sister is currently admitted there. She got admitted yesterday, she is 8 months pregnant and they told her the baby is dead. Till now the baby is still inside her body, I don't know when will they assist her because even yesterday they didn't want to admit her because they say they don't have enough beds. My mother faught with the nurse until they admitted my sister. I don't know what is going to happen to my sister in that hospital.

I am deeply disappointed by the treatment my sister received at the maternity labour ward at Bheki Mlangeni District Hospital. Childbirth is one of the most vulnerable moments in a woman’s life, and instead of being met with care and compassion, she experienced nurses with very poor attitudes and a lack of empathy. No woman in labour should feel dismissed or unsupported. What makes it worse is that patients’ phones are taken when they go into theatre, yet calls from worried family and friends go unanswered. We were left anxious and stressed with no updates, not knowing what was happening. This is not just about one person — it’s about basic human decency and proper communication. Maternity wards should prioritise kindness, professionalism, and reassurance. I truly hope management takes these concerns seriously so other families don’t have to go through the same experience. If you want, I can also help you write a more direct complaint addressed to hospital management or the Gauteng Department of Health.

First time mothers please be careful. There are nurses that love their job and love their patients. But there are those rotten few that destroy the name of the hardworking nurses. Labor ward nurses are sweet hearts, ANC ward staff are sweethearts but you see the nightshift gang with that 1 male nurse called Dube that tells mom's in Labor pains "stop being dramatic, yeka idrama" that guy is arrogant and one day if he hasn't alelready will get sued. If your ever admitted there make sure to be vocal. It's your right to complain of you feel that you are not given the proper treatment. Complain until they attend to you cos if you sit and wait that's where the damage begins and it's too late to go back. Know your rights. If I didn't complain probably the worse would have happen to me on the 24th September 2025. But God was on my side, this big mouth of mine worked in my favour.
