Bosch Siemens Home Appliances
Based on recent customer reviews, Bosch Siemens Home Appliances receives sharply divided feedback dominated by frustration with after-sales service. Customers consistently mention disappointing warranty disputes, unresolved faults on relatively new appliances, and technicians who fail to arrive or follow up. A recurring theme is poor communication from the call centre and head office, with promised callbacks rarely materialising. Positive sentiment does exist, with some customers praising long-lasting dishwashers, premium product quality, and isolated instances of efficient repairs and helpful service centre staff who resolved parts queries promptly.

We purchased a Bosch Series 6 built-in oven expecting the quality and reliability associated with the Bosch brand, but unfortunately our experience has been extremely disappointing. From the beginning, the oven baked inconsistently. The “3D Hotair” function did not bake evenly despite Bosch specifically advertising the oven as being able to “bake evenly on up to 3 levels.” Conventional mode performed somewhat better, but the oven still ran significantly hotter than expected. We consistently had to bake 15–20°C lower than standard recipe temperatures, and when baking multiple batches (cupcakes, scones, tart shells etc.), each subsequent batch would overbake unless the temperature was reduced further. We also experienced: Progressive overheating between batches Uneven browning in fan mode Clock drift requiring regular correction Interior enamel/coating damage and scratching within the first month of normal household use using the supp**** accessories Multiple technician visits were arranged. Initially we were repeatedly told the oven was “within specification,” despite the inconsistent baking results and the clear contradiction between the actual fan performance and Bosch’s 3D Hotair advertising. At one stage, the installation itself was blamed, despite the same cavity previously housing multiple other 60cm built-in ovens without issue. We then reviewed Bosch’s own installation requirements and compared them to the actual installation. After extensive testing and back-and-forth communication, Bosch eventually confirmed in writing that the unit is faulty and escalated the matter to Head Office. We were advised on 7 May that feedback would be provided within 2–3 business days regarding replacement or further action. It is now 17 May and we still have no update or resolution. The entire process has been incredibly time-consuming and frustrating, especially considering this is a premium appliance. At this stage, I am extremely disappointed both in the product quality and in how long it has taken to resolve the matter.

Bought a Bosch dishwasher at Makro in February and found a design flaw that makes the dishwasher not dissolve the detergent tablet and therefore fails to was the dishes clean. I brought this under Bosch attention and they log a repair. The technician called me and said that it is the tablets that is faulty and not their machines without coming out and look at the issue. The more I tell him that this issue never happened on my Defy the more he said it is bad quality on the tablets and not the machine. I need a letter from Bosch so I can return the machine for a full money back warranty so I can purchase a defy again. Very bad service and bad machines from Bosch.

We spent around R25,000 for a new Siemens IQ700 washing machine from Hirsch's and in the beginning, was really happy with the purchase. As we have a stacking installation, we had arranged this with Siemens South Africa directly and the job was completed. About two weeks ago (and this is us having the machine for less than a month), the water alarm started sounding and I could hear it was struggling to get water into the machine. I phoned Siemens who sent out their Technician for fault finding. I was told that we should replace the water outlet from the wall as it was rusted. I took the advice and had this replaced by Burgess - the cost, R1900. We re-attached the water pipe but still the same problem. I then tested another Siemens pipe which we had, and no issues - this was attached to the new water outlet from the wall, water flowed freely. The new pipe with the machine, no flow. I have now struggled for the past week to get the Technician back here to re-install the pipe (despite having several promises of this happening) - calls to the call centre who had to get hold of the Technician - to no avail. We're unable to move the two machines as we were warned that we must not pull on the machines - even Burgess staff said that they are not willing to re-install the new pipe. R25,000 for a machine and I can't use it! How many calls must I log with empty promises? Surely there are better machines out there in the world where you get actual support.

The Bosch website claims Personal assistance for all Bosch Home appliances, large and small! That may be true for Bosch in Germany, or perhaps in other countries, but my personal experience with the company in South Africa says: Not true. I must admit, the assistance at the showroom in Johannesburg has been positive, with friendly and professional staff. Even with the Bosch client services department, the service is not too bad. However, follow-up is lacking in the absence of the client following up. And once a matter is referred to the head office, the head is dead or non-existent. I have experienced problems with a hand-held vacuum cleaner. I bought one that caused problems, but due to logistical reasons, I only reported the matter late and was advised that the product could not be repaired. I recently bought another one for my daughter, only to experience the same problem: a high-pitched sound when you switch the device on, which, according to the Bosch website, indicates a problem with the motor. After returning the product and requesting a replacement, the replacement arrived with the same problem. When I wanted to request a refund from the supplier (Takealot.com), I was advised that I must engage directly with the supplier. I have done that, but do not expect a response, due to my previous communicating about the problem still not having been resolved four months later.

Service is excellent, dishwashing machine gave an error, 5 years old. Bosh service desk answered immediately and arranged a technician to repair. The repair was done on the agreed time. No waiting time, no answering a list of questions and checks, no holding and transfers. Just good old service.
