How I wish I had checked Hellopeter about CELEBRITY CRUISES before making my booking! I would have been forewarned about this cruise liner. Instead, I learnt a very expensive lesson. To cut a loooong story short, I booked a cruise with CELEBRITY CRUISES but was forced to cancel at the very last minute because of Covid19. After running around (in an unfami**** city) to find a doctor to confirm my condition ... and NUMEROUS phone calls and emails, I was told that CELEBRITY CRUISES no longer refunded monies in the case of cancellations due to Covid19. But NOWHERE was I informed about this! So besides going on a wild goose chase, I lost all my hard earned money. CELEBRITY CRUISES has absolutely NOTHING to celebrate.

In February 2023 we booked a cruise on Celebrity Cruises to do an Alaskan Glacier Cruise in August 2023 to celebrate my cousins 60th birthday. We got our USA visa's quickly and when we tried to get a Canadian Visa we discovered that Canada was refusing Visa's to South African based on the perceived support for Russia during the Ukrainian war. We tried everything to get a visa but to no avail. We called Celebrity Cruises and hung on for over an hour only to be referred to the Canadian Government. There we had even less success. On both websites it was indicated that if it was a closed loop cruise (starting and ending in the USA we would be allowed to board but we could not get off in Canada. No communication from Celebrity was sent to us stating that the situation had changed this season and that Canada would not let us board without visas. This was only told to us when we were on the pier and our baggage had already been sent onto the ship. We had to wait 3 hours for our luggage on the pier and then we were escorted off like ********s. This happened to several people and Celebrity have refused to refund us anything for the cruise or even to give us a voucher for another cruise. We spent a fortune getting to Seattle from South Africa and then had to find very expensive accommodation and rent a car while my cousin and her husband were on the cruise. It spoiled her 60th birthday completely. The treatment we received from Celebrity Cruises was so appalling we believe that they don't care for their guests at all. and are only interested in taking the guests money. I would not recommend them to my worst enemy!

A MESSAGE TO MSC CRUISES It is with great disappointment that we received an email this morning 6 days before our departure to Namibia that our cruise is amended without the guests' input or recognition of decisions.... Conventionally, MFC decided to change our cruise route from Cape Town to Namibia (now to Port Elizabeth)..... How INCOMPETENT is that???? We are a team of 10 people who were excited to experience an awesome cruise. You expect us to change the route and still pay for the full amount? Shows are canceled, and all you offer is vouchers???? Its been the 3rd time that you changed the shows and we had to make new ones!!!According to your email this is due to Namibia's covid regulations, however the option is there to still enter, why not let the guests decide for themselves whether they are willing to go through with the 3 covid test in order to have the experience they paid for? The call centre is extremely useless with information regarding this ordeal, management is permanently in meetings!!! This is one huge disappointment from MSC.

Well, I am writing this review, even though I have not done a Celebrity Cruise yet. My friend and I planned to do a wonderful Caribbean cruise May 2020, and after consideratiNG various cruise lines and cruise options, decided to go with Celebrity, as we liked the route. So we paid the deposit, and as that was fixed (or so we thought!), we started planning the rest of our holiday. We've booked international flights, local flights in the USA, booked hotels (and many of these were non-refundable), Then this week, 7 months before our cruise departure date, our travel agent advises that Celebrity had cancelled our cruise, as it was taken over by a charter group!!! We was fuming! We were offered 3 useless alternatives, all three with dates totally unacceptable due to all our other reservations, and oh yes, a grand amount of $200pp, BUT ONLY if Celebrity is booked again! How pathetic! We have been running around like crazy this week, trying to find an alternative cruise to fit the same dates, had to book extra flights, hotel, etc., all at our own cost. This experience has been a lesson to us - we will NEVER EVER book Celebrity again!!! It is all about money. They got a charter group, and then just kicked a number of other booked people off the ship! Charter groups bring lots of money in I guess!! Goodbye Celebrity! (And to just let you know, I think we actually now got a much better deal and cruise coming - with another cruise liner!). If I could, I would give Celebrity 0 out of 5!

Whilst I have been on many Celebrity Cruises in previous years, and have always enjoyed them, sadly I cannot say the same about their standard of service in respect of those manning their website or divisional office. Several years ago, I changed my e-mail address and I have been attempting to change it online ever since then. For some inexplicable reason my Captains Club Account is linked to the old e-mail address, and I am unable to update it, despite my greatest endeavours. I continually receive a ‘no go’ sign whenever I attempt to do so. As a result of this I have written numerous e-mails, and provided feedback online to this effect, but to no avail. All efforts to change it are in vain! I don’t wish to make an online booking for another cruise until this has been rectified. I fear I shall just have to shift loyalties to another cruise company, unless this simple issue is resolved speedily!

Whilst I have been on many Celebrity Cruises in previous years, and have always enjoyed them, sadly I cannot say the same about their standard of service in respect of those manning their website or divisional office. Had a cruise of a line time setting off From Turkey Istanbul, to Greece in Mykonos then Valleta in the Islands of Malta & made our way to Sicily then ended off on Rome, Italy. Now that was a trip of a life time I must say. The stuff from securities to barmen/ladies, waiters were just on point. <br> <br> I enjoyed my stay in the Celebrity cruise as well as all the cities. Every day I was looking forward to eat & drink while having conversation about hometowns which are worlds apart. I was also very pleased to learn there were several staff members that were from South Africa and had the leisure to meet them. <br> <br> Celebrity cruises until we meet.
