STAY AWAY...I repeat...STAY FAR, FAR AWAY!!!!!!!! This dealership has contravened the Customer Protection Act (CPA). They sold a defective vehicle that manifested defects within 3 months of the sale. They took no accountability for repairing the vehicle, ignored numerous calls and follow ups- causing the consumer to go to Motor Industry Ombudsman SA (MIOSA) as an escalation point. After investigation by MIOSA, a ruling was made in the consumer's favour and they were instructed to repair and collect the vehicle within 15 business days. This was contested and then ignored, prompting a further escalation to the National Consumer Commission where another investigation was conducted. The investigation found them in contravention of the CPA. They THEN contacted the consumer to want to repair the car (3 years after they were made aware of issues with the vehicle)...OUTRAGEOUS This entire process took 3 years- while the consumer had to continue to pay the car instalment and not having access to a vehicle!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They showed no concern for the consumers rights under the CPA and less so for what the consumer had to endure with the investigations were underway!!! THEY WILL outright ignore any attempts to do the right thing. Just look at previous reviews on Google where they engaged in similar behaviour. AVOID MAKING A PURCHASE FROM THEM AT ANY COST- NO MATTER HOW GOOD THE DEAL!!!!!!! ONCE THEY HAVE YOUR MONEY- YOU ARE AS GOOD AS DEAD TO THEM!!!!!

Buyer beware - These guys are **** artists, they hide defects on the vehicles and once you realise they just ignore you. Bought a R500k car, arrived with the safety systems not operational, no reverse camera or sensors working. Paint variations and bumpers not aligned showing clear evidence of a crash. Vehicle has been standing at merc since day of pick up, costs quoted to repair now running close to R100k. They just ignore and dont repond to anything, the dealer principal Jaseen just seems to turn a blind eye. Shocking to say the least, now an uphill battle to follow the legal route to just get my money back. But i will throw my full force at this..... ****mers!!

Consumer Complaint – Emerald Auto In my experience, Emerald Auto delivered terrible service, showed no accountability, and provided zero after‑sales support. The vehicle was confirmed by TOYOTA SA to have been a salvage vehicle have possssed written off status by TSA , and when I raised concerns, the dealership was dismissive and unhelpful. Based on my experience, they behave unprofessionally and fail to meet basic consumer‑service standards, which is why I am reported them to the CPA.

Very disappointed with service, Trish is the sales person who helped over whats app, all paperwork was submitted to him for a purchase of a Ford mustang priced at R589 000. All has been approved so I told him I'm bringing a trade in as well, because of a busy life I was going to do the deal with 1 go once tested. He should of mentioned what needed to be brought to conclude with the deal, unfortunately nothing was said. I asked him to get the car ready because I had to travel from Mt Edgecombe to PmB, got there car is still in lot not washed. Waited for that to get done in order to inspect and take for test drive. I did a short run and was happy to conclude the deal. Suhale helped with rounding of paperwork to Westbank, my ID was required which unfortunately I did not have on hand, 3weeks later Trish asks when can I bring ID through. My temporary disk is expired which Suhale says if I get stopped to just mention I'm on my way to pick it. My biggest problem is this, while I was in Cape Town I got a message from tracker vehicle battery low, I messaged Trish to have this seen to 14/04/2024 with no plans forward, I contacted Suhale the manager and explained these issues, he guided me how to open the door and access the bonnet. I arrived back 22/04/2024 and mentioned to suhale the battery is stone dead. The advice I was given is to jump start the vehicle, bring it to pmb so that they can take it to a battery specialist for a report. I am not a mechanic to be doing these things and running around especially to purchase a vehicle at that price, no spare key, manual, service book, wiper blade needs replacement. Not happy with the service, owner should look into these small flaws with staff to make sure the customer is getting a proper service or else it could just ruin a good business.

Emerald Auto in Petermaritzburg are the worst car dealers I've even come across, the car I bought was a second hand car. It had no service plan and it was not serviced for 2 years, and it had lots of faults... when you call them they get very arrogant and angry... worst service ever

I have never in my life encounter such a deceitful business. The director and his crooked subjects will do & say anything to get your money and then turn their back on you. They will tell lies or not even take your calls. Your only recourse will be costly lawyers and timely criminal proceedings. Not even the MIOSA (Motor Industry Ombudsman of South Africa) will be able to assist you because EMERALD AUTO ignores this entity which means you will then have to approach the NCC (National Consumer Commission) and that process could take years. When I recently bought a car from them I had to deal with Three different salesmen because 2 left after each other. EMERALD AUTO assured me the car had no electric defects but after I paid for the car I found out that the car had a major computer system problem. I declined to take ownership of the car until it’s fixed. After many weeks of not being able to fix it I demanded a refund and they just ignored me! After months of paperwork, MIOSA informed me that EMERALD AUTO is not cooperating and that I should approach the NCC. I had my attorneys demand my refund from EMERALD AUTO or face a lawsuit & criminal action. After 5 mounts of Hell with second hand dealership I eventually got my refund, the director refused to pay the interest I lost on the R220 000,00 paid to them for the car. EMERALD AUTO drags all the reputable used car dealerships in South Africa down the drain.
