This place makes a joke of the word hospitality. I want to give it 0 stars but see that’s not an option. ***********, unfriendly, dismissive staff; a very rude manager and a lack of hygiene made the stay awful. This review could list many many things that are wrong. It’s a classic case of don’t trust a website. My advice: AVOID this venue.

This place makes a joke of the word hospitality. I want to give it 0 stars but see that’s not an option. ***********, unfriendly, dismissive staff; a very rude manager and a lack of hygiene made the stay awful. This review could list many many things that are wrong. It’s a classic case of don’t trust a website. My advice: AVOID this venue.

This is a copy of the mail sent to the management What a total disgrace of a offering 1. When we got to reception there was only proof of one payment when all had been paid - proof sent but there was no record - the first question we were asked was where are your payments ! Had to immediately prove we had paid in full 2. Get to the unit and the windows/doors that look onto the patio and grounds where covered with sand blasted vynil and there was a broken key for the door and a padlock which we unlocked and had to push the doors open to find ourselves looking at a filthy deck and a broken deck eaten by rain or ants No outside seating that we could sit on the deck and enjoy the view We smoke cigarettes- no ashtray on the patio so we used a cup as we are not rude and throw butts into the garden 2- We asked the housekeeper to please bring some additional blankets as the bedding was not adequate for a cold night - she brought the additional blankets which was fantastic I asked her why the external patio door was as it was and was told that we were not ALLOWED to use the patio ? Excuse me , we bought a totally overpriced unit at a FOUR STAR accommodation! ( BTW I will be reporting you on this all because you should not have one star to the accommodation tribunal-( I too am In this game and I understand it completely) Your housekeeper was also next level rude and kept telling me to take my views up with management which I tried to do the next morning 4. The most disgusting brown worn out decoration ***** on the table 5. A kettle on the fridge with the cord so short that in order to pour into the cup one had to almost go on one’s knees to pour the boiling water into the cup - you should also have a pot of available water that one does not have to walk to the bathroom to awkwardly fill the kettle with water 6. The Nescafé coffee in the sachet was old and hard 7. Following morning we had the pleasure of meeting the male manager - who promptly told us we have to be out by 10 - I appreciate that it was 10-30 and was under the illusion your check out time was 11 when breakfast was over - our mistake 8. I tried to engage this manager about our experience- he hurried us up and said he would speak to us about our issues over coffee in the restaurant These matters needed speaking about in the moment - not over coffee later. (we left without seeing the manager) As mentioned, I am in this same game and I bend over backwards for my guests. 9. What a poor show for a place under new management 10. Swimming Pool was green 11. Wood piles visible in the garden - what a mess 12. Remove your board that says four stars because believe me I am taking your lie further !!! Shocking experience You don’t deserve the business. HelloPeter will also be getting a review on this. You should offer us a full refund!

We stayed at En Gedi over night because we have a little one and did not want to drive back home after a wedding we were attending in the area. I asked for an early check in for 13:00 a week before the date of arrival in order to freshen up with our toddler before the wedding and was told no it’s strictly 14:00, no explanation or consideration from the reservations desk. We came to freshen up at 16:00 after the ceremony and there was absolutely no staff on the property besides the security guard who let us in. He gave us the room key and obviously was not able to explain the room or any amenities in room or on the property. The front desk agent was standing at the security office and she rudely said the front desk is closed as she was waiting for her transport to fetch her for home. Upon entering the room we had immediate smell of damp mouldy, no ventilation. There is no door that closes the bathroom area to the room. An old wobbly cupboard that holds the coffee station, shower drenched in mould, 1 ply toilet paper, window tint peeling in the bathroom area for outside to see in and the toilet was leaking water out of the back. We couldn’t contact anyone on the property because all staff or front desk had left at 16:00. We were basically abandoned and felt unsafe on the property. We emailed them asking if there would be breakfast served in the morning - with no response, as we previously were told if more than 10 guests had checked in, breakfast would be served. I was uneasy sleeping over that night with the mouldy air for my toddler so we left the fan on all night. As I was putting my toddler to bed I found an old sock from a previous guest behind the toddlers single bed and the pillowcases had stains on I’m assuming from a ****** nose. Highly disappointed in this property as well as the service. When we checked out at 08:00 the next morning, the front desk agent hadn’t even asked how our stay was, she just took the key and told me that the security guard is gone to buy himself breakfast somewhere, I should call her cell and tell her when I’m at the big gate so she could open it. I couldn’t get any names as they don’t wear name badges I will never return to this property or refer anyone to use their services.

Hello peter.... We booked at Engedi Retreat online..as we saw a beautiful place to relax and have a piece of mind.... We arrived late at nyt.. when we got there...the hygiene was very poor cigarette smoke everwhere ...no WiFi as stated...and we wer not happy with the service....all we want is for them to deduct money for 1 night and repay us the rest as we only slept for 1 nyt...

We had lunch at Engedi, the so called buffet lunch. Hair in my food, no service whatsoever from waiter even though there were 2 tables occupied. No dessert, not sure where it was taken to as when we arrived there were some available but when we left nothing at all. When we told the gentleman on duty he couldn't care less and we were advised there is no manager on duty but some Annemarie lady would call us, still waiting for a call. This is a so called up marker establishment, what a joke.

We had lunch at Engedi, the so called buffet lunch. Hair in my food, no service whatsoever from waiter even though there were 2 tables occupied. No dessert, not sure where it was taken to as when we arrived there were some available but when we left nothing at all. Made a booking for a room for two nights including dinner both nights. On arrival at Reception the second night, we found the place in darkness and the only person was the security guard. We had to then leave the premises in order to find a place to eat. On approaching Management the following morning, we were handled in a rude and unprofessional manner. Why would they close their Reception and Bistro on a Saturday night knowing we had booked for dinner. Apart from all the above, the TV was faulty, not enough towels provided etc, etc. We won't be recommending Engedi!
