Horrible horrible services for a pensioner. Firstly we get to the emergency doors and are told by a very casual illiterate security guy who doesn't even call porters to help me and my mother. Then we get to the so called emergency room and are told that only the patient is allowed in. After fighting, my mother remained behind with my dad. Then they tell me I need to park outside the hospital and of something happens to the car it's not their responsibility. This is by far the most *********** hospital in the east rand. Safe to say that all the people working here are very illiterate and very much uncaring

I came to Far East Rand last week Sunday to casualty, first encounter to meet Charmaine at reception. I was then assisted as quick as possible to open a file and come see the Urologist Monday Morning early. Monday morning Charmaine was there with a smile ready to assist me and my hubby , even remembering our names. After 2 hours I got to see the Urologist Dr Kula and his colleagues, what amazing doctor. The previous week I was at a private Urologist and he was so rude and obnoxious he will never see us again. Dr Kula Dr Exhamien and Team explained my emergency surgery so well and made me feel so safe. Thank you. I was then admitted on Tuesday Morning for monitoring and so on. Wednesday morning i had surgery. To all the beautiful ladies at the urology ward who I got to know and trust. All of you ladies were amazing. You were delightful and I just want to say thank you. I saw first hand how difficult things are for you all. Hundreds of patients in and out constantly, people being rude and disrespectful, if only they saw how difficult your job really is . To all the ladies thank you . Nancy , Tandeka, Olga, Masha, Ncobike , Petunia, and anyone I missed. You were great and a breath of fresh all. You made me feel safe and cared for. Thank you ... all my love Sherrine Collins

Last night, I took my father to the casualties after a very bad fall. His shoulder was fractured and both his knees had deep cuts. He also sported a swelling on his forehead and he was off balance. This was just after 6pm. At 83, he could hardly walk and was in much pain. But we waited (it will not help to say something about the long wait), when we finally did get through the glass (broken) door we had to sit in another line. The person at the table "in charge" of that area was more on his phone than concerned about the patients. I was asked to leave since only patients were allowed, and I left. Just after midnight, my dad was released after they have determined that nothing was broken. Outside the casualties, he fell again, and he went back in until 3am. My complaint is: why was he not given a wheelchair to assist him in the first place? Then the second fall would not have happened. The overall experience of this hospital leaves me dumbfounded and the medical staff could really do with training in bedside manners and some basic compassion. Not only was my father (white) not properly cared for, but I saw another woman (black) struggling to walk with a big hole in her leg, and a wheelchair was not offered to her either. When I commended on that, it was then that I was asked to leave. It was not as if there were not wheelchairs available. Just in the few hours of waiting, four were not in use, two were standing in the rain. I am appalled at the kind of service one receives at a state hospital.

Absolutely worst hospital ever, it's an absolute disgrace !!!!!! The unprofessional and discourteous treatment I and other patients has received. from certain staff members at the Far east Rand Hospital. I am deeply dissatisfied with their diagnosis, communication, and professionalism. Also the bathroom facilities are in a very disgusting and unpleasant state. Firstly I gave birth at this hospital and to me it was a very traumatic experience due to incompetend Dr and nurses. When I gave birth (normal birth) the nurse almost let my daughter fell of the bed that my husband had to catch her as she almost fell on the floor. Secondly I noticed my daughter had jaundice and I told the doctors immediately and nothing was done about it immediately they only came back a few hours later to test her fot jaundice and the results of her jaundice results only came back by the time they discharged me late afternoon the following day. Her results of jaundice level was very high due to the doctors that took to long to take action quicker. My husband and I had to take action and arrange to get her transferred to a private hospital immediately because we couldn't trust to leave our daughter in the hands of the doctors and nurses of far East rand hospital. Thirdly, when we arrived at the private hospital the doctors noticed that our daughter was extremely dehydrated and the doctors and nurse at far East rand hospital couldn't even pick it up that she was hydrated. How poor far East rand, you are an absolute disgrace. Lastly and the service I have received as an mother was absolutely poor!!! The treatment I have received from the nurses are extremely unhelpful. They treat you as a patient very poorly with no respect or whatsoever. I only started getting treated with medication after my husband had to complain and before I gave birth I was rushed to the postnatal ward due to contractions where I had to wait for 5hours to get helped !! I don't want to know how many patients have died in the hand of your nurses and doctors due to lack of communication and service. Please deal with your *********** doctors and nurses before more use get traumatised due to your poor service. It such a shame that you don't care about your patients needs and concerns...
