Goodness, I don’t even know where to start. I wish I could give a million star rating! A huge, massive thank you to Everyone at Genesis!! From the first moment my husband and I stepped foot into genesis we were greeted by bubbly knowledgeable receptionists who helped us make our appointments, thanks to Cecilia who made sure of our appointments, with Sr Denise! we were well taken care of by Sr Denise from the first appointment all the way to our 6 week post check up, thank you so so very much for being so amazing and accommodating no matter how many questions and concerns we had, but especially for all the advice and tips I Still use them and baby is thriving. A huge huge huge thank you to Daisy, seriously I cannot thank you enough, who walked my husband and I through every step of labour and delivery, very supportive and so so kind and informative, I know there was another lady in the room for delivery unfortunately I didn’t get her name but thank you to. Thank you to the gorgeous ladies who tip toed around us to clean the room as to not disturb us, you are a star! Thank you to those who cooked and brought us those delicious meals. Thank you so much very to the pediatrician Dr B, you are so kind and real gem! Thank you to all the in-house staff at Genesis, it truly was an amazing experience from antenatal to birth and postnatal, we feel so loved so welcomed every time we’re there, so well prepared and most importantly we were supported and well informed every step of the way. I thank all you hard working wonderful ladies for the best birthing experience. Should we have another baby I will definitely be back and I honestly will not stop recommending Genesis. Thank you all so very much!!!!

My wife was in for delivery at the time of facility for natural birth. Then in the evening same day, they demanded an extra 30000-50000 cash upfront to do C-section on the grounds of slow contractions. They then referred us to another institution. We had already paid over R31000 before hand. We had to rush in the middle of the night looking for another hospital.

If this is Gensis Maternity Clinic at 5 Northwold Dr, Johannesburg, 2132... then OMG! I can't believe the poor reviews this place is getting. My wife and I would go back 100 times, if we could make 100 babies! The service was superb! The nurses were just an emergency press away. My wife had issues with breastfeeding and they supported every step of the way. They provide thorough training on caring for your newborn which was especially helpful for us first time parents. Our midwife Nombulelo Ndlovu was out of this world! We had her on speed dial and she responded to our whatsapp messages and came through as promised for us at 1 am in the morning on a Sunday. The pediatrician Dr Bopabe is such a nice person that there are few words to describe. This place genuinely felt like giving birth at lodge rather than a clinic/hospital. Whether you agree or not, that was our personal experience and I would advise them any day. The only schlep is that there's no free wifi and the network signal (especially for Telkom) is poor to put it mildly.

Both of my children have been birthed at Genesis 2 years apart. Initially the feedback I received from family was positive, but from my 2 experiences it is clear that the quality of service at the clinic is declining. On top of that I continuously receive communication about an outstanding payment where I have sent numerous email with proof of payment attached and get no response.

Truly terrible service all round, from reception to midwife who defended the clinic's nonsense. Doctor was actually nice, but gave me a scan which was unnecessary (and extremely expensive - although did refund me when asked). Conflicting information on maternity plan received from every person I spoke to.

My wife and I used the Genesis Clinic on the 21st August 2020 for the birth of our second child. We went through all procedures and forms on time and according to the indicated processes. We had booked and payed for a private room downstairs. When we got to the clinic at 1am on the 21-08-2020, we were told that non of the downstairs rooms were available and we had to use the upstairs rooms. This was due to the clinic being very full at the time. We did not confirm it by checking ourselves as we had no reason to doubt the staff. The upstairs section facilitiies have a lot to be sorted out. Firstly, we were ushered to the birthing room. We were left in the room and told the midwife would come shortly. We were not told anything further. The room was freezing cold. We had to switch the aircon on ourselves. The pillows on the bed for my wife was horrendous. they provdided no support or comfort. There was no headboard or anything besides cold walls at the head of the bed. The midwife came in and assisted us trying her best to make my wife comfortable. The midwife has to request a blanket as the room was so cold. She also requested additional pillows which only one thin one was provided. My wife requested to use the birthing bath, when the midwife checked it, she discovered the drain plug was missing. She went to look for another one which ended up being too small. The resulting effect was that we could not use the birthing bath as it would not fill. During my wife's labour, she knocked her head on the wall as there was no headboard. Later that morning after our second child was born, we were told we had to move as another patient needed the room. We were then moved to a semi-private room that was small, noisy and had a shared bathroom. The midwife actually told us to rather take a discharge the same day as my wife would get better rest at home. That was the level of noise and discomfort at the clinic. The semi-private room has no headboard at the head of the bed, the pillows were thin and pointless again. There was no kettle for us to even make a cup of tea and coffee. When we requested that the baby's vaccinations be done, were told that only the BCG vaccine can be done and Polio vaccine is out of stock. Both vaccines are to be administired at birth by government law. We were told to come back three days later. We were also told that the Baby bag that we paid for was out of stock and that it would come in the following week. As we did not use the downstairs section, we were handed a form and told to fill it in and email through to the lady in charge of accounts. She would effect a refund of our private room booking fee. Today we called the clinic to enquire what was happening as we had received no communication from the clinic with regards to the vaccine and the baby bag. We were informed that the bag is still not in stock, over a week later and they cannot promise us that we will get the bag even though we paid for it from our hospital plan. We were also told that the polio vaccine is out of stock and they do not know when they will get it. We must go to our own paediatrician or dischem and get it. This level of service is totally unacceptable. How can a maternity clinic not have stock of a mandatory vaccine required by government? How can they charge for items they do not have and not provide them when it is stated that patients will receive it. The facilities were poorly managed and not in a good condition. Our first child was supposed to be born at Genesis but due to him being born before 37 weeks, we had to go to Linkswood clinic. In hind sight I am grateful that we could not use Genesis as our experience was horrible. Linkswood Clinic was ten times better. Furthermore, the Genesis clinic webste does not work. There is no email address and the landline number listed for the clinic does not work as well.

Initially when i booked for delivery the receptionist at Genesis Zanele Masango indicated that i DID NOT have to pay for the R4200 for the midwife fee for delivery (which i had with at that point to pay it over in cash) because the hospital was going to claim it from the medical aid directly. I called my medical aid to ask if the R4200 will be paid and it was confirmed. 3 months later (while on unpaid maternity leave) i received a statement stating that i owe Genesis R4200 for delivery fee. I then called them and explained my story as mentioned above and they said they would communicate with the medical aid. I had explained that it was too late for me to claim back from the medical aid and also stating the fact that i did not have R4200 lying around as i was on unpaid maternity leave. I then sent the claim to the medical aid and asked that they directly pay to the hospital. An amount of R1200 was paid which i notified the hospital about by sending an email to Natalie Nelson. She did not respond or acknowledge my email for that matter. Three months after payment was made(now 6 and half months after giving birth) i received communication that my medical aid has rejected the claim. I asked for proof of communication between them and discovery to substantiate what they are saying. None was provided. I called the Life Health Care head office and i was advised to speak to Natalie Nelson AGAIN. I called her and explained my story all over again. She had not read my initial email about the payment made or had any recollection of memory about it. Assured me she was going to look for the R1200 payment made. A week later still no communication, meanwhile i'm still getting statements sent to my house demanding that i pay the R4200. I called her again today and she's giving me excuses about having meetings. I mean REALLY? That's all she had to say for herself. The level of incompetence with the administration staff is really over my level of comprehension. Those people are just so incompetent, and they don't care. I'm a first time mom and instead of focusing on raising my son i have to keep chasing Genesis staff to do their work. See me give birth at that hospital again, **** me and i will never advise any of my friends and family to go there. They are horrible and frustrating.
