On 18 July 2025, I purchased a new pair of size 2 Mary Jane school shoes for my 11-year-old daughter to replace her existing pair. The only issue with the previous shoes was the Velcro strap, which I had raised with the store before. Unfortunately, as I had misplaced the receipts, the store manager consistently maintained that they were unable to assist. In November 2025, the newly purchased size 2 shoes developed the exact same problem: the Velcro strap failed again, on both sides. This time, I still had the receipt. On 24 November 2025, I contacted Green Cross to report that the Velcro strap had given up barely again, despite the fact that my daughter wore the shoes only four days a week and was on school holiday for the entire month of August. A Green Cross consultant contacted me, advised that the store where the shoes were purchased had since closed, and indicated that the matter was being escalated and that I would receive urgent feedback. This was after I had provided both the receipt and photographs of the shoes. While awaiting feedback, my daughter was forced to continue attending school with shoes that had broken straps, which negatively affected her mobility. Unfortunately, during this period, on 3 December 2025, my daughter lost one of her shoes at the school playground. Due to the faulty straps, she had been forced to remove the shoes as walking had become uncomfortable. I immediately reported this to the consultant, who advised that the matter could not be addressed without the missing shoe. As an organisation that prides itself on orthopaedic care and quality footwear, I am deeply disappointed by the poor durability of the shoe straps and the slow response in resolving this matter. This delay ultimately resulted in my daughter having to remove her shoes at school for comfort, which should never have been the case for a school shoe marketed for everyday wear. This situation could and should have been avoided had the product quality and response time aligned with Green Cross’s stated commitment to orthopaedic care and customer service. With the new school year about to resume, I caution other parents to carefully consider this experience when purchasing school footwear, as reliability and timely support are crucial, especially when it comes to children’s everyday school needs.

I have been using green cross court shoes for the past 11years as they were comfortable for work as I work long shifts . In December i went to buy a pair at Green Cross in Sandton City only to find that the quality is no longer the same. i cant even wear them for half a day. The vamp panel of the shoe is so hard(hard leather) i even developed the banyans' so disappointed.

So my mom of 87 for Christmas last year received a pair of brown green Cross sandals. Well these sandals didn't last three months and they were so stretched that they now fit me and I am one to two sizes bigger in a sandal to my mom depending on the shoe. The leather is also coming off the shoes and they are the most uncomfortable sandals I have ever tried on and they hurt your feet. Anyway I contacted Greencross about these sandals and it was ridiculous the information they were asking for. These shoes weren't even worn every day and they are disgusting. I can't believe that a pair of shoes that were over R1000 would last so little time and that a company like Green Cross would think that an 87 year old was not looking after the shoes as that is what they imp****. In fact from now on we are going to buy my mom's shoes from Froggies instead of Greencross as they are cheaper, long lasting as well as their customer service is a hundred times better than Greencross

I bought a pair of Jana sandals from Pavilion KZN on 15 March and when I wanted to wear them on the 16th I realized that the right foot's shoe had a defect and made a clacking sound when walking. I immediately took it off and took it back to the shop the next day where I asked for an exchange. The lady at the counter checked and they had another size 6 but the manager refused to exchange it and told me it could be the sticker at the bottom of the shoe which caused the sound. She took the sticker off and send me home to try it again and see if the sound was still there as we couldn't hear anything in the shop because of the extreme noise in the mall. On my arrival back home I again tried the shoes and the sound was still there, depending on how I put my foot down. I also asked my husband to listen and he also could hear it. I then send an email to Greencross and they advise me to send photos of the shoes, the box and the slip which I did but it didn't end there. Thwy then again send an email and asked for my number to contact me. After our discussion they told me that they will revert back and when they did, after a few days, they told me to take the shoes back to the shop (which is not just around the corner as I don't reside in Westville where the shop is) from where it will be couriered to Jhb for assessment. They couldn't give me a turn around time and it has been more than 2 weeks since a bought the shoes already. How long do they expect me to be without shoes, which I paid R1000 for and which have a defect? Why do they think I would ask for an exchange of the veey same shoe if there was nothing wrong with it? I find this totally unacceptable. This is the worst store I ever dealt with... BAD QUALITY AND SERVICE!!!!
