n March 2023, we invested in a solar system from Grid Freedom, including 2 Sunsynk batteries. At first, everything worked well—but after just 4 months, one battery started shutting down unexpectedly. Despite multiple reports, the issue kept coming back. We were told it was a “software problem,” which was “fixed” several times. But the same problem happened again and again, and each time it became harder to get help. 💬 October 2024 – We asked for help again when the battery kept switching off. No one came. 📞 January 2025 – Followed up. No response. Calls ignored. 📱 Only one phone number on their website—impossible to reach a manager. ⚡️ Eventually the battery completely died, and I had to chase for weeks just to get someone to collect it. 💸 Even though it’s still under warranty, I was forced to pay a pickup fee. I’ve had ongoing issues with this battery since early on, and instead of real support, I’ve been given the runaround. I asked to speak to a manager, only to be told he’s in England and can’t help. We chose Grid Freedom because they promote themselves as “green-certified” professionals—but the after-sales support has been beyond disappointing. If you’re considering going solar, please be aware: the installation is only half the journey—after-sales service is just as important. All I want now is for the faulty battery to be replaced and for someone to take accountability. 🌞🔋 #SolarEnergy #CustomerServiceFail #GridFreedom #Sunsynk #SolarPower #BatteryIssues #WarrantyWoes #GreenEnergy #SouthAfricaSolar #SolarSupportMatters

We have had our solar system installed for less the a year and one of our battery lights are not working properly so the battery was taken away to get “fixed” which took more then a month. Then the battery was delivered back yesterday it has four big dents on the front of the battery and the light that was “fixed” is still not working. R30000 for a battery that is less then a year old for Hubble and already has a problem and is now dented all over!!! They are refusing to replace the battery or even give us a solution. We had to call constantly for weeks to get our battery back and this is the condition it returns with no apology. costumer service is shocking and they keep saying they are a “middle man” group between the product providers and the installers so they can never give us an answer to what is going on.

3-years ago Grid Freedom Group (GFG) were asked to replace a ****** SMA inverter and solar panels. Once the task was completed they were paid. However, shortly thereafter the system started failing. GFG dispatched their representative, Mr Ross Muller, to attend to the problem. He came 6 times and sometimes would get the system to work for a maximum of 1 month. On other occasions he would need to refer to the manufacturers, SMA, for assistance. Currently the 35kW system is producing 5kW. Over the 3-year period that this has gone on it has resulted in a large loss of revenue to my company. Of late Mr Muller is not even returning my calls as I mentioned a month ago that it may be necessary to revert to social media to resolve this problem.

Extremely terrible service! I wouldn’t recommend this company even to my worst enemy. Had a solar backup system installed by these guys. Cost an arm and a leg. The guy who did the installation did such aterrible job that our house almost caught fire! Then we had a problem with the Sunsynk inverter that crashed and was taken for repairs. For a while we were on Eskom supply until a loan inverter was organized. After that 2 batteries seized, one after the other. They were gone for over 5 months each. No loan batteries, no communication or updates from GridFreedom. When they were brought back they still have a problem! No one at GridFreedom is addressing the issue. Even the CEO and manager don’t answer their phones. Essentially we have been running on 2 batteries for the whole year. As a result, we have had no respite from loadshedding, our electricity bill has not dropped and we are left with a system that has had no appreciable return on investment. From speaking to other solar companies, we gather that the batteries GridFreedom has used (Shoto) are problematic and are not being used by a lot of the companies. So, why is GridFreedom using inferior products? And why are they not assisting their client?
