I found myself in an unfortunate situation where my dog killed one of my three feral cats, and shortly after, Dim went missing. I waited and hoped, but eventually, I felt so hopeless that I went online to search for a K-9 unit that might be able to help. That’s when I came across Healthy Hounds Missing Animal Search and Rescue and, thankfully, got in contact with Diane. I messaged late at night and, to be honest, didn’t even expect a response — let alone one so soon after my message. Not only did I get a reply, but I was met with kindness, care, and authentic concern - something incredibly rare these days. Diane could have easily responded with a date and time, taken my money, and moved on, but instead, she was sincerely apologetic and compassionate. This was her message: “Thank you. I want you to try something before you spend any money…. I want you to walk your area and talk to your cat. No calling. Just normal conversation. At home, put the litter box in its usual spot and not outside and put some food out. This seems so simple but has helped so many families! The key is to not call. Just talk as if you were talking to me. My name is Diane.” Diane wanted nothing from me other than for me to find my cat. She called me while in the middle of fixing a fence, spoke to me, reassured me, and offered practical advice. “If you can’t afford the search, we are still here as your personal guides.” How many people today truly care more about helping than about money? So often, people are quick to complain and “blast” negativity all over social media but Diane was the calm in the middle of my storm. She made me a poster to place around my area, and in the middle of such heartache, she wholeheartedly listened. She sincerely cared and just wanted to help me find Dim. Knowing that a complete stranger could show such compassion was deeply comforting. Diane, you are a rare soul. All I can say is thank you - and I truly hope others see you in the same light I do.

I lost my cat Bella on the 23rd of May. I posted everywhere for assistance and the community all said Healthy Hound. I was going crazy as she is my baby, my service cat, I was just not doing ok. I contacted Healthy Hound at 4am in the morning, which I didn't expect a response but couldn't sleep. Diane phoned me first thing in the morning and said WE WILL HELP. We arranged a time, they came, Cairo was AMAZING. Picking up Bella's scent in seconds and showing us exactly where she had gone. We would never have known and she was also not able to return home from the position she was at. Diane guided me through all this, what to do and what not to. With all of this we found Bella. Extremely thankful. Amazing people, amazing K9's, communication done very well. And the best of all Bella IS BACK WITH ME.

Even if they were not able to find my dog. They did their absolute best to help and support me even after the initial search they were there for me guiding me with tips and possible hiding places I could check out. Always keep in mind that we dont know how doggie got out or circumstances. But I'm grateful for all their help so far.

I agreed with Diane (the owner of HH) that a search to find our missing cat would take place at 14:30 on the 8th of May. The contract, banking details, and a form (information about the case to be filled in) were sent to me. The contract was reviewed, multiple clauses that did not add up to what was stated on WhatsApp by Diane. The contract is outdated. This is misleading to clients as it is unclear what the terms of the service are. For example, it states that a further cost is incurred if the search took place over multiple days but this was not true according to a message on WhatsApp. The contract also stated that students enrolled in a tertiary institution qualify for a discount, upon enquiry Diane stated that they do not give discounts. Nevertheless, it was agreed that R2200 would be paid in cash upon the search team's arrival. The form was filled in. At 14:37 I was informed of “gearbox issues” and that the search team was delayed. They never showed up on the 8th of May. I was informed that “James” would call me regarding a search and then that “Nicci/Natasha” would contact me. No one contacted me, to which I explained to Diane that I worry her employees do not have an interest in finding our cat. To which she responded by saying that they are “awesome” and that she is “a message away”. She lowered the price to R1800 “for the inconvenience” The following day the 9th of May, I followed up to find out if a search would be possible that day. To which Diane informed me that “Ben” would contact me. No one out of the many names provided has contacted me thus far. Diane proceeded to insist that I had been contacted to which I was very clear stating I had not. Eventually, Natasha contacted me. She was extremely unprofessional saying “ I have been messaging someone else the whole time.” She proceeded to send me a list of questions to answer which I had already answered the previous day… Did she not speak to her boss who should brief her on the situation? It then took her from 08:12 to 09:24 to give me a time for the search after I had been asking since they hadn’t pitched up the day before. The search was eventually scheduled for 18:30. At 18:42, I sent Diane a message as no one had pitched up again, to which she responded “Hi… I am coming tomorrow with or without a dog. I only have the motorbike but I am coming to see what I can do. I am ashamed of everyone and frustrated at having no car. What time are you home? I can be there anytime from 9 am” to which I asked if Natasha would be coming and she responded: “ Told her an hour ago to message you so I guess she has not. 😤 she sent me a message saying her gran is sick. I tried getting a ride so I could step in but stuck without.” “So I will come tomorrow on the bike. I know cat behaviour and can search where I can. I can get a car on Saturday so can then follow up with a dog search” To which I informed her I did not want the service with no message from her to follow. First of all, we are devastated by the disappearance of our cat, doing all we can to find her. It is a pointless recommendation that Diane made to assist without the dogs. It is the service we had requested at the end of the day. What Diane would do without a dog is what we had been doing since our cat disappeared. Secondly, this is an unprofessional business! The contracts are unclear and misleading, they are outdated and the information is incorrect. Appointments are made and never honoured by the owner or her employees. I feel extremely messed around and like a healthy hound, Diane and the employees do not give a continental whether our cat is found or not. Which is the purpose of the business!!! It is disgusting that businesses like this exist to waste people's time and money! Upon reading reviews about this business, the negatives outweigh the positives. To add to this, THEY HAVE REMOVED THE REVIEW FUNCTION FROM THEIR FACEBOOK, I wonder why? Don't trust this business! I am yet to receive a genuine apology for this.

Excellent service. Traced our cat this morning to a nabouring Estate. Were unable to get entrence to the premises where he jumped the boundary wall. Went back this evening to the same street, called him, went back again and found him. Thank you.

STAY AWAY - DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!! I recently had the horrific experience where my dogs went missing. I was desperate to find them and decided to Google a service where I can be assisted. I contacted Healthy Hound asap so that they could track my dogs down with sniffer dogs. I did this, but it was a big mistake. They made what was an awful experience even worse. We paid an upfront amount of R2750, before they could even consider coming out. Immediate payment required. All communication was via WhatsApp including banking details, contract and forms sent. No phone calls whatsoever. It was very difficult to communicate with them (only reply if you insist many times), but anyway they came out on Saturday (29.07.23), after first contact the Wednesday prior to hunt for our missing dogs. The dogs apparently took a scent, and we were off on the road and after a while they said the dog is tired, “let’s try another dog”. After a while they gave up and said they would revert with a plan the next day. They left and did not want to commit on when they will come back. The next day there was no communication and after many messages, it felt like we were begging them for a service we had already paid them to do. They responded that they could come on a Wednesday (02.08.23) at 12 noon, but I need to arrange security yet before I made any payment, I had informed them of the possibility of my dogs going into an informal settlement. if they were uncomfortable why agree to do the job. We tried to contact them further and arrange a sooner time, but we got told " tomorrow" for atleast 4 days. Their business ethic is pathetic and sucks and if this is the way they are conducting business it is not on! They make money from your heartache and desperation. It left a horrible feeling that lacks integrity. I am greatly disappointed! And very disgusted to have trusted them. I would not recommend them at all! Ever!!! I WOULD STAY AWAY!!! This is not how to conduct ETHICAL business.

Diane from Healthy Hound has been a great support during our search for our missing dog l, Max. We have gone out to search numerous times and Diane has been helping with poster design and networking and general emotional support. Diane truly cares about finding your pet. She understands the emotions behind a pet going missing and she cares about reuniting families. We have not found Max yet, but we are confident that we will!
